GeT_RiGhT: "We practice a lot!"

Last but not least we had NiP's Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund answer our questions regarding the upcoming SLTV StarSeries V Finals event, his team, and more.

Alesund's Ninjas in Pyjamas are currently 85-0 on LAN in maps and with all three of this month's tournaments being in best-of-three format from start to finish, they may just be able to finish April undefeated as well.

Continue reading to find out what Alesund thinks it is that makes him and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg such an unstoppable duo, who he would rather not face in Kiev, and more.

With only a couple of days to make adjustments based on Copenhagen Games, what are the things you will focus on during this little time off?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: We've been trying to play as much as possible, we've added things into our tactical base that didn't work at CPH Games as well for some new things! So we are going into this tournament as everyone else we have been going to. More ideas, More training and such! Nothing "special" but just the normal things for us! We haven't been able to bootcamp though.

What did you learn about your team at Copenhagen Games? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Is there something you need to work on?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: I'm not sure exactly what our weaknesses or strengths are, but whatever we are doing right now., we're doing right. We need to however fix some rounds there and there. Even if we are for the most time, we are fixing it when we are playing against different teams!

You will face ESC Gaming in the first round of upper bracket. How much will you prepare for them specifically, knowing it a few days in advance (e.g. demos, etc.)? What do you predict will happen in the match?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: I think we will just try to prepare for ourself and try to get a own picture on how we should play against them, as everyone in the team have their own ideas on how to play against different enemies! But we've been playing a lot against them before, so I know both of the teams know each other so well that it woudln't really matter if you look at demos or so. On a personal note, I've got huge respect for the guys as I like them really much and I want the best for them! But not when we play them ;) Would be probably same for them as us!

You saw Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro play at Copenhagen Games. Who do you expect to win that match? Who would you rather face and avoid? Why?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: They have been improving alot, I've seen that Na`Vi has been practicing a lot before all of these tournaments as I think they will be all fine this tournament. On another note, I'm getting surprised by Virtus.pro every tournament they play! They have been improving a lot, even more than NaVi since they started and we've got many tight games against them so, if I MUST say someone that I don't want to play it's probablay them :p. Even though I'd like to play anyone in the finals!

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-
GeT_RiGhT's NiP are once again heavy favorites in Kiev

Do you think the relaxed schedule of SLTV StarSeries V Finals which allow you to only play one or two matches a day is better than Copenhagen Games' packed one with multiple matches? Why?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: Would be better to have more games per day, more teams as well I think. I just hope it wouldn't be that "boring" to be playing just one game per day or so. I'm really looking forward to visiting Kiev again, as I like the city as well the Arena where the games will be played!

Do you think part of why you and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg have been able to dominate CS:GO so well is how your styles complement each other? What sets you two apart from individually from other great players, who can't seem to keep up with you?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: Haha.. I've been thinking about this a lot and such, but I can not really point out something that makes you get a "right" answer on it. But I'm glad that he chose me back in 2010 and stayed with me as we left fnatic back then. As we, somehow make everything work for our teams that we've been playing for! We have been laughing pretty much lately how we often win "2vX" situations that we shouldn't and that we are a really good combo! There are a lot of other players I think that have huge skills in other teams, but I'm not sure if the in-game leader is using them well.. I'm not gonna give out names, but I think some will figure out that soon enough! :)

It almost seems like the gap between you and the rest has only increased since the beginning of CS:GO. What do you think it is that sets you apart from everyone else? Do you simply work harder, combined with your unique talent? Why isn't anyone catching up?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: I think the answer is pretty much clear, we practice a lot! We are working on small things that we need to work on every day, removing those big errors and we're having fun with it all the time! We're great people who like to be sitting on mumble/skype and enjoy small talks / jokes with each other! As many people still haven't counted in, that we're still a pretty fresh team and we enjoy pretty much every minute that we are playing with each other! I think that's the big factor why we are playing well, is that we have fun all the time!

You have probably practiced against teams we haven't seen you play much against. Who do you think matches up the best against you? Who are you the least confident facing?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: We're always ready for any team that we are playing, so I'm not really sure what to answer on this question.. :p

You now hold at 85-0 LAN map record in CS:GO. How much longer can this realistically go on? Do you feel confident you can finish these April events undefeated?

NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: We're aiming on playing well in any tournament we are going to, as I think pretty much everyone else is aiming for the 1st spot aswell! I'm not sure how long time we will hold it, but it doesn't look for the moment that we will slow down. However, I think it will come at some of the tournaments that we are attending (SLTV, EMS, ESEA and GeeX) it will be really hard to keep up, but we will try to do whatever we can to make it happen :p. Everyone in the team knows how hard it is to be on this level, and we are seeing many teams getting closer and closer!

Alesund's Ninjas in Pyjamas will begin their SLTV StarSeries V Finals campaign tomorrow at 21:00 at Kiev's CyberSports ARENA with a match against ESC Gaming.

If your talking about steam stats, then that's not true. As soon you turn on your game, it starts counting.
2013-04-04 00:03
nope it counts idling in menu screen too! i'm curious to know how many hours they have too!

It's a big surprise :) Me gusta ^^
2013-04-03 20:15
Did you understand ex6tenz??? ;)
2013-04-03 20:21
I think what sets GeT_RiGhT apart from other strong players is his mindset. He goes into all situations confidently, it's like he can almost see how he is going to take down three players next. You can really feel this in his playstyle aswell. But I think this is also where his cs-partnership with f0rest came in to play during the past years he has been playing together with him. It is much easier to go in for some confident yet risky moves when you know that you have someone on your side that is still able to save the round after you took a risk and paid the price. Other players with a potential to be as amazing as him have too much pressure to go for this style of play, since they don't want to end up costing their teams the rounds.
2013-04-03 20:35
Seems even more humble now. Opposed to when he was younger! He has grown up a lot and i guess 85-0 can make anyone humble! Haha ;) i think hes very happy and comfortable within his team. Maybe this team has an edge on other teams just througb basic chemistry. 5 FRIENDS who happen to all destroy nerds. I want to get xizt interview sometime soon, best IGL in CSGO and was top 1.6 IGL on his way to becoming best in 1.6 had it lasted longer.
2013-04-03 20:40
Making that amount of money by playing video games would make anybody happy.
2013-04-03 20:49
To be fair sc2 players make 10 times more and arent as humble as he seems. Probably because they dont have to split the prizes with four other people ;D
2013-04-03 20:51
that's just for show to keep the audience pumped up xD
2013-04-04 12:01
"here are a lot of other players I think that have huge skills in other teams, but I'm not sure if the in-game leader is using them well.. I'm not gonna give out names, but I think some will figure out that soon enough! :)" ScreaM? LOLO the point GTR doesn't know is that ScreaM doesn't have SHOXIE near to him.
2013-04-03 20:38
I'm not gonna give out names, but I think some will figure out that soon enough! :) whose name?

Ok, we understood that you are the LIFER with the friends and fresh air stuff, don't get cocky. Everybody has a way of life. For some, it's CS for others are the discos, what's your problem? That being said, people going on discos are far more idiotic than the closed people playing games doing harm to nobody.
2013-04-04 07:41
so you say one extreme type of behavior is as bad as the other extreme xD if cs is your way of life then you are probably doing something wrong. sorry.

ofc they are very good players and play awesomely as a team , but other teams are really not that far behind, its more mental case that they havent been beated yet. Once they lost couple of times, other teams will get more confident about themselves and its easier to face them. Thats my opinion :)
2013-04-03 20:50
16-2 in CPH final was not a matter of mindset. Trust me.
2013-04-03 21:03
ww want a quick game
2013-04-03 23:18
these interviews are getting really boring, it just seems like you are asked the same questions over and over
2013-04-03 20:53
that's because they did ask the same questions
2013-04-03 22:40
haha
2013-04-03 23:09
Exactly, it get's boring.

good combo's? ScreaM - nbk, stingeR - moddi, Neo - TaZ, edward - starix... much potential but much is on ingame leader.

"There are a lot of other players I think that have huge skills in other teams, but I'm not sure if the in-game leader is using them well.. I'm not gonna give out names, but I think some will figure out that soon enough! :)" ScreaM, TaZ, Moddi, karrigan, twist and i really think the list can go on and on, but the first 2 that i've been mentioning are the best examples

I personally feel that ex6 isnt using the full potential of his players.
2013-04-04 11:46
really level head, I like his responses to the 85-0 questions. A team that is 85-0 responds to questions by saying they will ride it as far as it can go while knowing eventually they will lose one. A team that doesn't go 85-0 would respond in a far more black and white manner with over bearing perfectionism/high standards. gtr and co are clearly well grounded, well balanced mentally and in a great 'in the moment' zone right now.
