Last but not least we had NiP's Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund answer our questions regarding the upcoming SLTV StarSeries V Finals event, his team, and more.
Alesund's Ninjas in Pyjamas are currently 85-0 on LAN in maps and with all three of this month's tournaments being in best-of-three format from start to finish, they may just be able to finish April undefeated as well.
Continue reading to find out what Alesund thinks it is that makes him and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg such an unstoppable duo, who he would rather not face in Kiev, and more.
With only a couple of days to make adjustments based on Copenhagen Games, what are the things you will focus on during this little time off?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: We've been trying to play as much as possible, we've added things into our tactical base that didn't work at CPH Games as well for some new things! So we are going into this tournament as everyone else we have been going to. More ideas, More training and such! Nothing "special" but just the normal things for us! We haven't been able to bootcamp though.
What did you learn about your team at Copenhagen Games? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Is there something you need to work on?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: I'm not sure exactly what our weaknesses or strengths are, but whatever we are doing right now., we're doing right. We need to however fix some rounds there and there. Even if we are for the most time, we are fixing it when we are playing against different teams!
You will face ESC Gaming in the first round of upper bracket. How much will you prepare for them specifically, knowing it a few days in advance (e.g. demos, etc.)? What do you predict will happen in the match?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: I think we will just try to prepare for ourself and try to get a own picture on how we should play against them, as everyone in the team have their own ideas on how to play against different enemies! But we've been playing a lot against them before, so I know both of the teams know each other so well that it woudln't really matter if you look at demos or so. On a personal note, I've got huge respect for the guys as I like them really much and I want the best for them! But not when we play them ;) Would be probably same for them as us!
You saw Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro play at Copenhagen Games. Who do you expect to win that match? Who would you rather face and avoid? Why?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: They have been improving alot, I've seen that Na`Vi has been practicing a lot before all of these tournaments as I think they will be all fine this tournament. On another note, I'm getting surprised by Virtus.pro every tournament they play! They have been improving a lot, even more than NaVi since they started and we've got many tight games against them so, if I MUST say someone that I don't want to play it's probablay them :p. Even though I'd like to play anyone in the finals!
GeT_RiGhT's NiP are once again heavy favorites in Kiev
Do you think the relaxed schedule of SLTV StarSeries V Finals which allow you to only play one or two matches a day is better than Copenhagen Games' packed one with multiple matches? Why?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: Would be better to have more games per day, more teams as well I think. I just hope it wouldn't be that "boring" to be playing just one game per day or so. I'm really looking forward to visiting Kiev again, as I like the city as well the Arena where the games will be played!
Do you think part of why you and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg have been able to dominate CS:GO so well is how your styles complement each other? What sets you two apart from individually from other great players, who can't seem to keep up with you?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: Haha.. I've been thinking about this a lot and such, but I can not really point out something that makes you get a "right" answer on it. But I'm glad that he chose me back in 2010 and stayed with me as we left fnatic back then. As we, somehow make everything work for our teams that we've been playing for! We have been laughing pretty much lately how we often win "2vX" situations that we shouldn't and that we are a really good combo! There are a lot of other players I think that have huge skills in other teams, but I'm not sure if the in-game leader is using them well.. I'm not gonna give out names, but I think some will figure out that soon enough! :)
It almost seems like the gap between you and the rest has only increased since the beginning of CS:GO. What do you think it is that sets you apart from everyone else? Do you simply work harder, combined with your unique talent? Why isn't anyone catching up?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: I think the answer is pretty much clear, we practice a lot! We are working on small things that we need to work on every day, removing those big errors and we're having fun with it all the time! We're great people who like to be sitting on mumble/skype and enjoy small talks / jokes with each other! As many people still haven't counted in, that we're still a pretty fresh team and we enjoy pretty much every minute that we are playing with each other! I think that's the big factor why we are playing well, is that we have fun all the time!
You have probably practiced against teams we haven't seen you play much against. Who do you think matches up the best against you? Who are you the least confident facing?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: We're always ready for any team that we are playing, so I'm not really sure what to answer on this question.. :p
You now hold at 85-0 LAN map record in CS:GO. How much longer can this realistically go on? Do you feel confident you can finish these April events undefeated?
NiP-GeT_RiGhT-: We're aiming on playing well in any tournament we are going to, as I think pretty much everyone else is aiming for the 1st spot aswell! I'm not sure how long time we will hold it, but it doesn't look for the moment that we will slow down. However, I think it will come at some of the tournaments that we are attending (SLTV, EMS, ESEA and GeeX) it will be really hard to keep up, but we will try to do whatever we can to make it happen :p. Everyone in the team knows how hard it is to be on this level, and we are seeing many teams getting closer and closer!
Alesund's Ninjas in Pyjamas will begin their SLTV StarSeries V Finals campaign tomorrow at 21:00 at Kiev's CyberSports ARENA with a match against ESC Gaming.
