New CS:GO update tweaks weapons

Valve has released a new update for CS:GO which introduced some important gameplay changes.

May 1st's update sees some tweaks being made to the weapons, like the Desert Eagle, whose inaccuracy has been reduced, and the Mag-7, whose cost and cycletime have been increased.

Players getting shot in the arm or legs no longer experience aimpunch, while the environment fog while using a scope on a weapon has been reduced. In the classic competitive mode, it is now possible to have two flashbangs and four grenades in total.

Other changes include some minor map fixes and a tweak to the weapon inventory HUD, which now displays the number of grenades held of a single type.

  • Tweaked weapons

DEAGLE: Reduced inaccuracy
Mag-7: Increased cycletime. Increased cost.
XM-1014: Increased ArmorRatio. Increased cycletime.
UMP-45: Reduced price. Reduced recoil angle variance.
Mac-10: Increased maxspeed. Reduced price.

  • Classic Competitive now allows 2 flashbangs and 4 grenades total.
  • Implemented bodygroups penetration for maximum damage, now shooting through arms at the enemies head will apply headshot damage, or shooting through arms at the stomach will apply stomach damage multiplier.
  • Removed aimpunch resulting from getting shot in the arms or legs.
  • Auto switch when dropping a weapon (or after throwing a grenade) avoids weapons with 0 bullets in the clip.
  • Reduced environment fog when scoped with a weapon.

[ MAPS ]

  • CS_Militia: Fixed collision in CT spawn, added radar names
  • CS_Assault: Added radar names
  • CS_Museum: Fixed and updated radar and overview scales.
  • DE_Library: Fixed bug where some clients would crash on bomb explosion.
  • DE_Favela: Fixed bug were a prop was causing server lag, other gameplay tweaks
  • DE_Seaside: Fixed bug were players would get stuck near Terrorist spawn.

[ MISC ]

  • Weapon inventory HUD now displays the number of grenades held of a single type.
  • Fixed a sound bug that resulted in ghost footsteps when taking over bots.
  • Fixed player money getting set to the wrong value if the player took over a bot in competitive and survived to the end of the round.
  • Added a server convar "sv_maxusrcmdprocessticks" to limit maximum number of user commands backlog, defaulting at 3; observed player speed by others will now always be within max movement speed even when user is cheating, experiencing high packet loss or exteremely low fps.
  • Vote kick will record user's SteamID in the banlist and remove user from ongoing competitive match even if the user disconnected from game server before required number of votes have been collected.
  • Spectating Operation Payback games via GOTV is now allowed without Operation Payback pass.
  • Fixed crash on exit.

I don't think it would be a good idea to increase the update cycle. I'm not a fan of having fixes after updates, and sometimes fixes after fixes. The update cycle is generally fine with CS:GO so far, except during busy periods full of tournaments, which is understandable.

It adds a bit more skill to the game and makes it harder at the same time. It gives an advantage to the person with faster reflexes, and makes it so that you don't just pull down to the left 30 degrees every single time.

The player doesn't know which weapons still have ammos, and it should stay this way. I mean we're on a battle, not in a store, it's not like in the middle of a fight the dude will go like :"well let's see, this one is fine, still got bullets in it". No, he'll be like "GIVE ME A FUCKING GUNNNNN". And if this gun has no bullets, he's fucked, that's the price to pay for taking the risk of dropping instead of reloading. What's next ? well its known that some players do use it atleast used in 1.6 since u get the weapon slightly faster in to ur hands with it.. that why the pros started dropping their weapons against ecos when the clip was empty and nowhere to back away to.

They did drop the weapon, but it wasn't for the the enemy to automatically pull out the weapon. It was so that incase they die and can't retrieve their weapon, then it will be out of ammo entirely for the enemies, whether or not it actually had extra ammo in it. However, if you die with a weapon then it will drop the extra ammo you had for it aswell. Stupid, I know.

But my point wasn't that a person in real life doesn't know which gun still has ammo or not, my point is that in a middle of a fight you don't have time to check anything on the gun on the ground when you're out, you just need to find anything that can kill your enemy in front of you, shooting at you. Even if you do realize, it would be when you already reached for it and it's in your hand. So it's possible people could in theory tell if a gun is out or not, but they would not be able to in a fight in my opinion. Anyway, it's not like CS is meant to be 100% realistic.

this is actually good and bad,good when you're on eco,kill a guy whose rifle is empty atleast it wont switch to it,you still have a chance to kill the next guy with a pistol,but also bad,this happened to me,i had 0 bullets and wanted to drop the gun and pickup one on the floor and it didnt let me,it kept switching to my pistol all the time and i got killed xD.

Guess I'm the only one who thinks theres not enough aim punch in csgo. Seems like way less than cs 1.6 especially if you HS someone. Tired of HSing an awper and them just shooting you straight back as your hsing them shit is dumb. Guess for arms and legs and what not its not really related to aim punch for what bothers me. well you had multiple options how you aproach that duel:fast peek,silent walk even jump out worked sometimes,hell when you peeked an awp you could jump out and come back if you know what i mean,and also duels in 1.6 were over in a second,emphasis was on the movement just before the duel.

As i said duels are more fast in 1.6,you cant really do ADAD cause bullets that hit you slow you down way more,so the duels are basically about who has the better aim/position,as i was saying what you do before the actual duel could help you win it(meaning you dont have to be a better aimer),and that's what csgo doesnt really have(those options based on movement),imo 1.6 was more balanced that way in csgo you need to focus more on aim and less on movement/playing smart.

The thing is there was so much tagging you couldn't just run away after you made a mistake (like not killing him instantly) least when your enemy hat some skill. To dodge bullets you had double-duck and thanks to the high air-acceleration you may had to luck to strafe away (but that required some skill most people didn't have). In CS:GO you basically just ADADADADA and if he misses you can just run away.

It's definately heading the right way but there's still so much to do to make this game a worthy sequel of both 1.6 and Source. I just tested the deagle and I am a bit disappointed. It sure feels better but it's still crap. You pay 150$ more for a deagle than you did in Source and you get a gun that isn't even half as good. You pay 800$ for a PISTOL, it is SUPPOSED to be strong. Remove the shaking and reduce the insane punishment when spamming. For the next big update - A silencer and a 200/300$ reward for an AWP-kill. Valve pls

Agreed on the AWP reward. But I don't think the Deagle needs even more buff(I haven't even tried the new update), the Deagle is the only pistol that is capable to one-shot someone on a longrange; I think that this 'eco'-weapon has its use already, pistols don't need to be even more overpowered. The only pistol that really needs changing is the Five-Seven. It really makes the CT-side too overpowered wielding five Five-Sevens; 4 bullets to the body(20 in the clip!) and even an armour-wearing person is likely to be dead. Couple that with the fact that a headshot on close-range is an instant kill and that it has an even better accuracy&firerate than the p250(which is actually also too deadly)...all that for 500$.

Well sorry but the "was like this in 1.6" argument would be ok if we were talking about CS 1.7. We're not. The money system is different in CS:GO, players can win more cash on a round, and the defuse kit is just at the right prize in my opinion. But if you have arguments concerning why the price should be changed I'm interested. Concerning the glock damage, maybe you're right, but it should still stay superior to the p2000 I think.

Wrong. Pistol-rounds were NEVER CT favored in CS 1.6 (they were quite balanced) because in pistol-rounds it's a lot harder to handle 2vs5 situations since you cant spray down multiple enemies (speaking about a classic rush where 4-5 Ts meet 2 CTs). That's why the CTs need the stronger pistol with more power on long range (the joke about CS:GO is that all pistols are very strong on longe range; in CS 1.6 the damage-rage-function was exponential whole in CS:GO it's linear and almost constant). The Ts will have to think about which player should get a better pistol dropped (so he can also buy a kevlar-west).

One that came to my mind that I havent seen people complain about is the fact that the bomb gets occasionally stuck somewhere by accident(like in 1.6) where u cannot retrieve it.. Implemented bodygroups penetration for maximum damage, now shooting through arms at the enemies head will apply headshot damage, or shooting through arms at the stomach will apply stomach damage multiplier. If I understand correctly this will mean it will be easier to spraydown a big group of enemies with a rifle? That is a pretty big change. Great update

Apparently the bug was like this : If you shot through the arm of an opponent and it went to the head of another opponent, the two hits were registered. If you shot through the arm of an opponent and it went to the head of this same opponent, the shot to the head wasn't registered. And it seems it was the same with arm>stomach. Until now.

the thing most people don't understand: It's not about increasing the accuracy or changing the spray-pattern, it's about having a longer kickback-reset-time. Let me explain that: The longer you shoot in CS 1.6 the more time the weapon needs to cool down and reset the kickback. This means that you need to wait longer after you shoot 5 bullets for the kickback to reset than when shooting only 1 bullet. In CS:GO the kickback gets almost instantly reseted, whether you burst or tap. THAT is the problem. It makes it way too easy to burst and tap (it's ridiculous easy to burst and tap in CS:GO!), and there's no reason to tap anymore since the kickback-reset-time of bursting is the same as the kickback-reset-time of tapping.

Yes we are. The first guy said that tapping became useless because bursting would be too accurate. I said the problem isn't that bursting is too accurate (okay, the 3rd bullet shouldn't be that close, it should have a bit more spread so you need some skill to in 1.6), the main problem is the time you need for your kickback to reset. This time is way too short (for both, tapping and bursting) and most of all: there is no difference between the kickback-reset-time after 1 bullet (tapping) and the kickback-reset-time after 2-5 bullet (bursting).

Played today 2hours cs:go the difference is really small between the tweaks of the weapons. I didnt tested the deagle so far. But the main difference i have seen are the 4 grenade slots in mm and people have now problems with lags -Fixed a sound bug that resulted in ghost footsteps when taking over bots. There is another bug without bots in online matches its really a small step forward

all these awesome updates that the community has wanted and yet the glock is still outrageously powerful. When we win T pistol (which is 95% of the time), i just get head armor and use the glock both D-eco rounds and if i get a couple kills you end up with ~ 9-10k on round 4.... enough to buy you an AK armor for the rest of the game as long as you plant 3 times in the half.

I just found a bug of smoke in de_train map. Everyone try it by yourself to confirm the bug. Buy smoke and through it near corner on any wall of plant side 'A', when I smoke I can clearly see it passes through walls, so is this a bug or its normal?
