NiP, VG out on EMS Cup Day one

MIRAA
May 22nd, 2013 01:09

The first day of the RaidCall EMS One Cup #2 has come to an end, with Ninjas in Pyjamas and VeryGames having already been knocked out.

NiP had already failed to impress in the first cup, in which they finished 3rd-4th following a defeat to Copenhagen Wolves in the semi-finals, and this time around they cut a frustrating figure as they were sent packing after just one game.

Even though Western Wolves have only recently recovered from internal problems, the Danish side made light work out of NiP, defeating the Swedes 16-3 to cause the first big upset of the tournament.

Meanwhile, VeryGames also crashed out of the cup in the Round of 16 following a 21-17 defeat against Natus Vincere, who were playing with Denis "seized" Kostin as a stand-in Yegor "markeloff" Markelov. The result shows that the Frenchmen still have a long way to go to hit top form after picking up Richard "shoxie" Papillon.

Happy NiP squad in the prize ceremony

NiP continue to struggle online

Fresh off a first-place finish in the first EMS One Cup, Copenhagen Wolves suffered a 16-14 defeat in the quarter-finals against fnatic, whose addition of Finn "karrigan" Andersen seems to have refreshed and reinvigorated the team.

Below you can find the semi-final matchups of the EMS One Cup:

Funny how everyone changes their mind, if NiP Would've beaten Western Wolves, and people would've said "Online" .. What would your respone be then?
2013-05-22 10:49
Nip has beaten WW several times on lan haven't they? NiP beating WW online wouldn't even be worthy of news, the only reason this is, is because nobody expected it

VG unbeatable hahaahhahahaha

Rooting for golden five, even though I think they need some roster changes. Surely there are other good players in Poland that can replace the older, less motivated members.
2013-05-22 01:17
I think that its impossible and they wouldnt change their line-up imo
2013-05-22 08:41
nip not top3 anymore. vg isnt top5. 1. vp 2. cph 3. fnatic 4. ww 5. nip 6. na'vi 7. ldlc 8. vg ... not ranked. anexis.uk

calm down, it's online and in bo1...
2013-05-22 01:23
nip not top3 because of 2 online losses? if thats how you rank teams then why's vp top1? they got crushed by absolute legends in this cup

you're not very clever.

i read a lot of stupid comments these days, but this is just enough , its not even funny anymore if this is what are u trying to do , since when a single map online decides who will be top 1 ,2,3 ? the truth is that the real top is 1.NiP 2.VP,VG 3.ex-Quantic/WW the rest is a crap really , none of the others proved anything on the last big lan tournaments , i wont even talk about cphw wtf is this a joke ? and btw i like ww too but what happened when they faced nip on lan finals :]
2013-05-22 01:49
^^^ Just another stupid comment, ha ha. 1-2: VP/NIP 3-5: CPH Wolves/WW/fnatic
2013-05-22 05:59
1. NiP 2-4. VP/VG/WW (all of them can be considered top2) others.

1. NiP (This won't change for a while) 2. VP (Pretty solid in second place) 3. VG/WW (Both have had a lot of second place finishes) 4. fnatic (A lot of 2nd places, but not consistent) 5. LDLC/CPH (A number of good results, but still a lot to prove)

don't live in the past. last 4 maps against vp they lost. there is no way they can be considered better now. most titled, most successful, yea, but not the best team atm. deal with it.

They are already qualified for DHS so the other teams bribe them and lose matches online. Simple as that. Also VG (rpk,nbk,kennys,ex6 and smithz) would have caught up by now. Idk why they changed
2013-05-22 01:26

even though it's online which of course produces a few random results, it's nice to see that there seems to be a lot of teams that are on a similar level meaning they can beat each other and produce close games. Differnet point looks like Swog(- zonix - aprrox) and /10/ (- Guardian) have merged for at least these esl qualifiers. esl.eu/eu/emsone/team/7708813/
2013-05-22 01:46
Funny u say VP is top lmao yet they lost to AL earlier today as well.... nip, vg and vp all went out, the top 3 teams in the world should i say all got defeated online but we will see the others at LAN and see how they perform.
2013-05-22 01:52
even though im a CS:S/CS:GO player (never played 1.6), it's really good to see that the legends from 1.6 can still make it...hoping for a navi vs esc in the final
2013-05-22 02:24
Still don't think NiP would come close to losing games like this on lan. Online qualifiers FTL.
2013-05-22 02:25
Delpan: "NiP lost motivation. They need me."
2013-05-22 02:32
The title should be "NiP, VP out on EMS Cup Day one"!
2013-05-22 02:35
"a win is still a win" that's bullshit because online cs vs lan cs is a completely different show, you have these allstars that somehow don't do a thing once they touch a lan. When one of these teams beats nip or another team online then goes to lan and struggles to get a round, they have no right to be considered a good team.
2013-05-22 03:06
Why is the title 'NiP and VG out' and not ' NiP and VP out' VG are barely top 5...
2013-05-22 03:32

Estonia 2026
Go look their sauce achievements and stop complaining.
2013-05-22 16:32
I know they're the most decorated team in source, this isn't source, why do people think it's a huge shock when VG get knocked out a tournament when struggle to stay top 5 anyway. VP are more deserved to be in that title, like I said 'NiP and VP out' since VP are a much more prominent team in GO.
2013-05-22 19:39
Since all the people that come from sauce like to think that they will make some sort of comeback and I doubt it highly after they added shoxie now, scream has high hs rate but he still isn't madfragger so yes. NiP is more like 1.6 team and 1 team has to be sauce in title so yes. U GET MY POINT?
2013-05-22 23:05
Yeah I get your point, I'm just saying it's wrong. 'NiP is more like 1.6 team and 1 team has to be sauce in title...' I don't think this is the case lol...
2013-05-22 23:12
well let's say it like this: we know there's more 1.6 people and don't wanna disappoint the team that was only successful in the beginning and need to include these noobs. ever since RpK left I think there is no more VG.
2013-05-23 00:26
I don't know if you're agreeing with me or not?
2013-05-23 00:33
To some extent I am. But I disagree with the fact that you put VP ahead of VG just because of their better overall rating.
2013-05-23 01:13
VP over VG any day, it's not source anymore...
2013-05-23 01:15
Noone gives a fuck about sauce yea, but VP started to play well just recently, while VG did good in the past used to be always top2.
2013-05-23 13:42
The past, being over a year ago, VP have been in the top 3 since the early months of GO, never seen as the underdog, except against NiP ofc, If teams that did well in the past should be in the title, then ALTERNATE should be in the title, 'NiP, VG and ALTERNATE out of EMS one'
2013-05-23 14:49
Don't hate on sauce that you don't want their good old team, VG, be in some titles. People still believe in VG and that they can be on top again but I doubt it, soon they'll be gone.
2013-05-23 15:08
Are you agreeing with me now? I don't get it? Do you think the title should involve VP or VG? Personally, I was more shocked that VP went out early, I've gotten used to VG leaving early, that's why I feel VP should be in the title.
2013-05-23 15:17
I am not agreeing with you that VP should be there just because they have been good @CS:GO just recently and VG has been there since the beginning like NiP pretty much.
2013-05-23 15:39
Why would a team that was prominent one year ago still be in the titles now if they're not nearly as good as other teams around now a days. VG are out, I'm not shocked, they're not great, VP are out, that was a big upset, almost as big as NiP's early exit.
2013-05-23 17:06
Nip are just coming back from a break ffs. Everyone relax, this is not news. I watched f0rest aim and he was worse than me. They obviously need a few days of practise to get back to their level. They will still win everything when the big tournaments come around! tbf tho, VP, fnatic, CPHW and WW all looking strong too so this is going to be an interesting few months! When is the next major lan??
2013-05-22 03:58
always with the excuses...
2013-05-22 04:52
Lol. I hope ur trolling!!!
2013-05-22 06:47
idk what im doing tbh, but i cant stand to read things like what u typed. They didnt lose their skill bc they had a week off...u dont lose ur aim and knowledge of strats in a week or 2...hell when a sports team has a week off, its considered an advantage. They just got outplayed and forest had an off day. thats all
2013-05-22 08:21
Have you ever heard of pre season in any sport? It's used after a break to get a team or athlete back into match practise and the correct levels of fitness. You ease into it. It's no different mentally. They didn't have 1 week off, was more like a month which is more than enough to lose an edge and affect reactions etc. if you sit at the computer everyday practising the same action over and over then you are going to be amazing. If you suddenly take a few weeks off your reaction times, focus, drive etc (especially after the year they had) will be affected. After an intense year where they won basically everything they were entitled to some time off. They were not stuck at home being no lifers, they probably went to see friends and didn't touch a computer. Of course their reactions etc would have suffered enough to lose to teams who have not taken a break but have been lanning and playing a lot. The expectation is for them to win everything so you come to these dumb conclusions if they lose but tbh they probably didn't give a shit and just had fun whilst trying to ease back into CS. We are not talking about a random or average team here. Don't know if you have been following CSGO at all but these guys don't suddenly lose 16-3 to a team they pissed on for year because 'forest had an off day." They will still win everything when they get back to up to speed and im sure they will be back to normal soon enough or for the next major lan. Then you can reply to this.
2013-05-22 17:05
u cant compare preseason to NIP having a few weeks off(it wasnt a month), and cph isnt just some shitty random pug team, they have been performing very well in the last 2 months...of course there is a chance for them to beat NIP 16-3 if they are all playing well and forest or get_right has an off day. CS is as simple as that, 1 player has an off day and ur team loses. Just like any other sport where the star player isnt performing well that game, there is a very high chance of loss. Im not saying they wont continue to win almost every tournament, but not this one lol.
2013-05-22 21:07
f0rest doesnt do off days like he had in that match, thats the reason i brought this up with you. He was mega rusty dude. Friberg said so in an interview on NIPTV after the game that they were nowhere near ready for anything and that they were just coming back from a break. f0rest been saying it in his streams recently too. These are not guys that make excuses, they would just say other teams have caught up. They wouldnt have lost 16-3 to WW otherwise. Come on, how many times did they dick WW last year, online, in lan finals, everywhere. NIP took a break so they lost some games coming back as they are out of form. Simplez
2013-05-23 00:55
ok i can see ur point
