RattlesnK returns in fm-eSports

Former mousesports captain Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn has returned to activity in fm-eSports' new team.

The British AWPer, who captained the mouz squad who placed 3rd-4th at DreamHack Winter 2012, had been out of action since the disbandment of his Anexis team in July, even though he was seen representing the UK in the European Championship.

Gawn has now linked up with fm-eSports, who had been seen playing as a mix team in ESEA Intermediate after finishing 5th-8th at the ESWC finals in Paris.

RattlesnK in new fm team

From the previous roster, only Neil "nEILZiNHo" Finlay remains as Som "s0m" Haddow, Søren "socN" Falke, Tom "vertiGo" Rockliffe and Brandon "weber" Weber have all been released.

fm-eSports have also re-signed Reece "Puls3" Marrs and Phil "Whindanski" Nicholas, two players who have represented the organisation in the past, while bringing in former n!faculty member Alexander "rdl" Redl.

"Here we are at the start of 2014 and unfortunately after our last event in December we were forced to take a bit of a break over Christmas and New Year and try and fix some issues within our lineup," Finlay told fm-eSports' website.

"We have been on the look out for a top sniper after our outing at ESWC and I myself have been looking for someone to take over the role as in-game leader to try and push us to the next level.

"We are delighted to bring in one of the best in-game leaders and AWPers from CS:S and also from CS:GO – Sam “RattlesnK” Gawn to fulfill both of these roles.

"Sam brings bags of experience to the team as well as countless tactics and most importantly, organisation – something that all UK teams have lacked since his former team Anexis disbanded.

"He was always one of the best awpers around and I am 100% certain he will be up at the top again this year with the amount of hours we shall be committing to the game both individually and as a team.

"We will also be bringing in Alex “rdl” Redl  - whom I played with in CS:S for a long time and we are all delighted to have him in the team. We also welcome back Phil “Whindanski” Nicholas and Reece “Puls3″ Marrs, who we all believe has the potential to become one of the players to watch in 2014 with his aiming ability and having the experience of rdl and RattlesnK can only push him towards that goal faster."

fm-eSports have already started practicing for Copenhagen Games, which will take place from April 16th to 20th, with €26,000 up for grabs in the CS:GO tournament.

The new fm-eSports team looks as follows:

United Kingdom Neil "nEILZiNHo" Finlay
United Kingdom Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn
United Kingdom Reece "Puls3" Marrs
Ireland Phil "Whindanski" Nicholas
Sweden Alexander "rdl" Redl

2014-02-27 22:27
Could be Top 10 world if they work at it. For all my disagreements with Sam as a person, as a counter strike player he's possibly one of the most consistent and highest potential players in the UK: Practically every team he's been on has at least done SOMETHING internationally. The issue is his attitude is always his biggest issue, accumulating in his loss of form while in Anexis, due to a mixture of saying he didn't actually like the game, and the usual UK excuse of never practicing. The fact that he seems to piss everyone he plays with off doesn't help either. We saw a glimpse of what he was capable of at Dreamhack 2012, one of the few players who'd quickly been able to use the new AWP. If he can fight his demons, then any team he leads could easily become top 10.

Predicting Rattlerage to start kicking players and predicting fmtoxic management to show no loyalty to longstanding members like neil and whindanski. I see this going like fnatic years ago. They bring in dsn as a leader, a month later he kicks everyone and the management side with him. No doubt he built a strong team but the players all got screwed.
2014-02-28 07:15
What exactly do you think I could gain from that with FM esports? I am fully aware with who I want to play with and these are the individuals I chose. Their attitude toward the game is quite freshing compared to my previous teams as everyone is willing to put the effort in to improve. I can't say that was the case before and ultimately it showed. It seems most people have this view of me as being lazy and unwilling to put the effort in because it was too cool. I'm not that type of player and I always put my full commitment into something when I agree to do it. For an example in anexis I was making all the strats, teaching players how to play as CT (because CSGO was new), making all the smokes, flashes, grenades in general, playing as the IGL, AWPer and supposedly meant to frag for our team. This made it incredibly stressful and difficult to play because I had little support from my teammates. I would be spending most of my time working out how they should all play and end up under prepared at an individual level. I hope with this team I can start enjoying the game more as other players will help out and be more dedicated. We will see :).

Honest to god & i put this on everything! I lookup to Sam"Rattlesnk" & unfortunatley me starting cs at the age of 15/16 with me being 21 now & playing in the NA era to now living in the EU always watched CPL,ESWC, & CGS and big events but i never knew the names i juss would beg my mom to stayup late or wakeup early to watch them because in California all the events were on live TV and can tune in just like watching normal tv. Sam is a player that knows everything ingame , & helps and develops players into some sick talent! Alot of pro players that teach or mentor younger upcoming stars never get the thank you & shit but honestly if i were to watch a demo or pay for a private lesson it would be him or steNo from NA ! The best ingame leaders that will form me into a decent player if i ever got to play with them. All i gotta say is Sam dont let people discourage you or let that get in your head and show the world why u deserve to IGL FM-Toxic! I would rather have a ingame leader yell at me if i do something wrong rather then that normal ingame leader say oh nice try nice try in all reality u played that angle or clutch shitty as fuck! GL and see you at CPH games!

I know there's a lot that matters(skill, experience, tension so forth and so on) but why is Puls3 there instead of weber? I haven't watched FM Toxic a lot lately and I don't know much about Puls3, but I'm curious=)
2014-02-27 22:07
weber got a team and puls3 is actually really good.
2014-02-27 22:47
Ahh so weber left and didn't get kicked? Thanks.
2014-02-28 00:32
Not sure, they have been changing alot of players in the last couple of months and I even think they folded at one point. Think that made weber look for another team - I might be totally wrong :D
2014-02-28 00:51
weber and socn fell out with each other at our last LAN - socn made a danish team and the rest of the team and weber both agree'd it would be better for both of us to part ways

does his experience in GO comes from writing articles or actually getting results . cause he doesn't have results
2014-02-27 22:07
his csgo experience comes from losing to better players and complaining that its the game's fault in poorly written articles

I have never seen anyone rage like rattlesnk does. I would have punched him several times in the face, if he spoke to me like he speaks to his teammates. That is not a leader! A leader is someone who brings out the best in his players, knowing it takes different approaches since people are different. I think you are an arrogant prick, and I hope you will fail bigtime :D
2014-02-27 22:08
Thats why i trolling him on esea ^_^
2014-02-27 22:54
See if they stick with the same Org/Roster for 2 or 3 months then I'll make my mind up. I'm really not a big fan of the guy but: RattleSNK has obviously shown in the past he has a lot to offer when he keeps his cool, if his attitude towards his own team mates has improved I honestly think he could be a respectable figure in present day UK CS.
2014-02-27 22:11
He really shouodnt rage so much, this is an improvement from not playing at all, and if he loses well then hes right back where he was a month ago. This is why leaders like carn reign supreme, keeps his players calm, and himself even calmer.
2014-02-27 22:17
I remember hearing at a LAN a while ago he fetched a book full of strats as well as stuff he was jotting down, people were laughing about it but it's clear the guy is willing to try anything to improve himself when it comes to developing strats and working on his own individual skill. For someone to have that much commitment it's always seemed rather peculiar to me that he hasn't worked on other aspects of himself as a professional player. I'm not trying to look down on the guy since I've done fuck all professionally on CS, but it really is confusing why the same stories of him raging keep occurring. Guess is shows how important social and emotional intelligence are in the grand scheme of things, especially as a strat caller.
2014-02-27 22:25
As for Strat callers like Carn, Gob B and especially Ave, I almost feel like it's unfair to compare people trying to still rise as a top player in the scene to them since they're really rare, Ave to this day is still my favourite Strat caller by far (although I do admire how well Carn enabled his teams).
2014-02-27 22:26
Ave is also my favorite, he was a tactical genius, best anti-stratter to. couldnt ask fora better IGL
2014-02-27 22:28
How do you know ave was such a good strat caller? just wondering..
2014-02-28 12:25
Cuz his teams were on par with the absolue best (2008 they even dominated) without the super talent the other teams had
2014-02-28 17:33
tActive took the words right out of my mouth, aside from that interviews and a little general CS knowledge and me being a hardcore fan at the time, in 2008 i was probably playing 10hours a day and id say 4 of those hours was spent following the pros.
2014-02-28 19:30
Yeah i can respect that commitment and everything but ive found in general people respond a lot better and perform much more for you when not under duress. Think of it like this, im your manager, and your all my employees, if i treat you well, you work hardand treat me well. If i treat you like shit, i probably wont get your full potential out of you.

2014-02-27 23:37
fm-eSports will need TOP awp player
2014-02-27 23:43
Even after ~2 years, 5 top UK players have not formed a team and stuck together. You'd think it wasn't so hard, but apparently not. None of the players in this team are bad at CS, but they have all played CS for years and years, and only RattlesnK ever showed the talent to compete internationally. Not trying to rain on parades of anything but, like, I dunno. Not even near possible to break Top 10 with this lineup imo.
2014-02-27 23:45
how else do you expect the scene to grow if you just use the same recycled players? TBA have a player from i guess the semi-elite players in sweden from 1.6? Roquey or something? i followed a bit of 1.6 and have never heard of him but now hes playing with Eksem. Same with denmark, 3dmax with raalz. thats why their scenes are so big EDIT: Puls3 has the qualities to be within the top echelon of players in europe, neil and whindanski have been there or thereabouts throughout most of CS:GO, same with rdl. Sam has done a little in CS:GO but has massive history.
2014-02-28 00:09
Everyone in this lineup is pretty much a recycled player, excepting puls3. Sure, fine, maybe he's going places - but not with this team. Yes, decent teams can come from semi-elites - look at fnatic, and lots of the other great teams that Sweden have. But these players are young, and were even younger when trying to break into top scene. Unless these peeps are hiding secret reserves of talent or have massive chemistry, I just don't see this going anywhere. UK scene either needs an all-star lineup that doesn't throw a shitfit from personal issues or losing to people they see as worse after only being together for 1-2 months, and just folding. Or, the UK needs a team of young and up and coming players to slowly climb up the hard way, maybe with 1 old-school player to be their IGL. But UK has literally no grass-roots scene compared to other countries, so that's also near-impossible.
2014-02-28 00:19
What can FMToxic do when the UK scene doesn't produce anyone half decent to recruit? Normally you recruit from clans slightly worse than yourselves but they cant do that because all the clans worse are absolutely useless!
2014-02-28 11:45
They have the potential to be big they just need to stay together as a team for more than 6 months, which we all know most UK teams fail to do without at least one roster change...
2014-02-28 01:00
Give them a chance man. It will be interesting to see what they can do under rattlesnks wing.
2014-02-28 01:06
I respect your views Jeza because honestly you are correct, But in the past teams we have had, we have never had a proper leader/caller. We had neil calling who isn't a caller from the start of csgo. Ok we haven't done that well at events, thats granted. But we have never had proper leadership or proper structure. We hope this will change now with the addition of sam. Sam understands the game better than any person in cs from the UK scene, Currently we are trying to make it work long term and do something constructive with the players we believe can do well. But yeh it might take sometime :)
2014-02-28 14:43
I think if you stick together and play and not blame the game and just practise. I dont see why any team can't be the best just gotta work harder than everyone else.
2014-02-28 15:06
Either way I wish you the best of luck. My post was pretty miserable, but UK CS kind of brings that out in people. Teamwork and sticking together is so much of success in CS. I always look at a team like Alternate, who don't have really any 'monsters' or anything like that, and think that every success they have is pretty much due to that.
2014-02-28 15:15
Just look at fnatic, 3 of the main 5 have been playing together for x years with the addition of JW who has added to them + Pronax who is the perfect fit for there style and the way they want to play the game They took like 1 year to be were they are now, Even chopping and changing there roster as well taking out moddii etc taking out berg. Took time to get the right chemistry

Taking the time is usually the problem haha

Not sure what all's going on in the comments here. I think fm! finally have a chance to cause some damage in the international scene again, something they haven't been able to do for some time now.

I mean i really like you you seem the most responsible person on here.

Neil and Whindanski have never really achieved anything in cs and are unlikely to imo, very average. Pulse has been hyped as the next great UK player for about 8 years and still hasn't stuck to one line-up for more than a few months and never really won anything. RDL failed with his own countrymen so i assume this is a last resort for him. RattlesnK was one of the absolute best css players when on form, and supposedly decent at 1.6 too. Would expect him to be pretty good at GO if he puts the hours in. He's wasted in this line-up and he's a twat anyway. Look forward to them coming 2nd at the next i-series then the team folding.

Hahahaha
2014-02-28 10:28
It wont be too hard for them to be better than the steel/hudzG mixteam though considering how unorganised they look in games.
2014-02-28 10:26
Yes. I see this roster having a very long and prosperous career. Yes.
