Finnish team Refuse have won ESEA Open Season 16 in Europe following a 2-0 (16-12 de_dust2, 16-12 de_nuke) win coming from the lower bracket against dope.
Refuse came into the playoffs of ESEA Open as favorites, having finished the regular season 15-1 with their sole loss coming against fellow Finns and second seed Menace with a 14-16 score.
Dope had finished third in the regular season, also with a 14-2 record but weaker round differential, and along with partyastronaus and Spanish gBots Club made it far in the playoffs.
The Swedes of dope ran through the upper bracket with wins over Infused, in overtime on de_cache, and Menace before beating Refuse in the upper bracket final, 16-13 on de_nuke.

Refuse had an easier ride in the playoffs up until the upper bracket final, giving up eleven rounds to gBots Club as their narrowest margin of victory. The Spaniards were knocked out by Team Platinium in the lower bracket.
The Finns beat Platinium with ease, and then faced off with dope once again, this time having to win two maps to clinch the ESEA Open championship. First was a 16-12 win on de_dust2.
It all then came down to de_nuke, where former Curse.EU member Timo "reflex" Rintala scored 29 frags, leading his team to a 16-13 win to clinch ESEA Open and win $1,000. Broken tag
