ESL One Cologne slot to India
ESL have announced that the slot belonging to former LGB squad has been redistributed to ESL India who will send one team to ESL One Cologne next month.
Ever since the unofficial disbandment of former LGB squad prior to DreamHack Summer, the slot they won by placing in the top8 at EMS One Katowice was up in the air.
ex-LGB's slot for ESL One Cologne goes to India
After Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer and Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson joined fnatic, combined with the inactivity of Dennis "dennis" Edman, it became apparent no combination of three former LGB players would be coming together for the next $250,000 tournament and that the slot will be redistributed.
Today ESL have released a statement explaining that a team from India will fill the void and get the chance to take part in the next CS:GO major, coming as a result of ESL's recent expansion to the second most populated country in the world.
"We are happy to welcome India to the ESL One and to add an additional country to our participants list. The best Indian team will represent their country next month in Cologne amongst 15 other world class teams from around the world. We are looking forward to see them in action and compete at the next major CS:GO tournament with $250,000 on the line!
ESL India will hold a LAN qualifier where the best teams in India will be invited to fight it out amongst each other. The best team will receive travel and accommodation support while also having an extended bootcamp before the event."
The organizers have also expressed desire to hire a coach who would be expected to help the winning team prepare during their bootcamp, preferably a former pro player with coaching experience. They indicated that all expenses such as travel, accommodation, as well as lodging and food allowance would be covered. Interested individuals can send their application to csgo_coach@nodwingaming.com.
This past week saw North America's iBUYPOWER and Australia's Vox Eminor clinch spots in the qualifiers for their respective regions, joining the seven teams who secured their slots through the previous major:
