ESWC Portugal open to Spaniards

The ESWC organisers have announced that the qualifier in Portugal will also be open to Spanish teams.

Organised by Meet uP, the event will run from October 3rd-5th in Vila Nova de Gaia, with the winners of the CS:GO and the FIFA tournament securing places at the world finals later that month, in Paris.

Last week, when the qualifier was announced, there was no mention of the qualifier being open to Spanish sides, but on Wednesday the ESWC confirmed via its website that teams from both Portugal and Spain will be allowed to take part in the event.

This will give teams like OverGaming and Outbreak the chance to compete for a spot at the ESWC finals, as Spain would most likely not have its own qualifier.

Below you can find the list with the teams that have already qualified and with the qualifiers and affiliated tournaments that have so far been announced:

United States iBUYPOWER Canada Mobility Gaming
France France Other Gfinity LAN
India India China China
Japan Japan Algeria Algeria

That is because someone in Portugal paid for the place in ESWC, so it is only logical that it is to the advantage of the Portuguese teams.

It's better than no qualifier at all.

If there is a spanish organization willing to host the qualifiers there wont be a problem, that's how ESWC has been since it existed. But apparently no one wants to host the quali's in your region therefore you shouldn't cry about japan india china algeria.

Are you idiot? Denmark sweden germany etc etc not have spot is a totally joke

A spot costs money, as well as making the qualifier. The countries you mention simply do not have anyone willing to pay for it.
2014-07-31 21:56
You are the idiot, you only got the spot because someone is willing to host the qualifier. If no one in spain wants to host the qualifier how will the winners be determined?

I think csgl can only put the matches by contacting the guys that are behind the tournament and if they agreed its ok the game will go to csgl but if not, no game in csgl

"Below you can find the list with the teams that have already qualified and with the qualifiers and affiliated tournaments that have SO FAR been announced" Sweden, DK, Poland and some other countries will probably have a qualifier too... and G3 will also be a qualifier for ESWC, with that being said, i don't think iBP will win the tournamet 4sure! btw, k1ck are not strong contenders, they would only be top4 if only these teams/countries attended, but there will be a lot more teams i believe

Reference to Algeria in the news piece simply refers to the related qualifier/affiliated tournament having been announced if I am not mistaken.
