fnatic to semis over Na`Vi

fnatic have defeated Natus Vincere 2-1 (16-11 de_inferno, 7-16 de_dust2, 16-14 de_nuke) to advance to the semi-finals at ESL One Cologne 2014.

fnatic won their terrorist pistol round on A on de_inferno, but a double by Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko in round two tied the game. A pair of kills by both Denis "seized" Kostin and Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács then made it 3-1.

Sergey "starix" Ischuk's four kills made it 4-1, and then seized's triple got them a four round lead. Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev's kills made it 6-1, and two doubles by seized, starix, GuardiaN and Edward clinched them two more rounds.

Up 8-1, another huge round by Edward stopped fnatic once more, before they got rolling. The black and orange slowly attacked A and cleared the site, and then did the same thing in B to make it 3-9.

They almost lost a save round, but Robin "flusha" Rönnquist's one-on-two heroics cut their deficit to 4-9. Na`Vi were forced to save, and Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer's two kills got fnatic the final round.

Up just 9-6 anymore, fnatic stacked B with four players and Na`Vi ran right in, getting crushed. One save round later Edward's triple and two from GuardiaN got Na`Vi a round.

Na`Vi getting ready for fnatic game

Broke but still alive, fnatic won a CZ75 save round with two kills at the end by Jesper "JW" Wecksell around the couch. Next rounds were traded, but a key three-on-four conversion tied it at eleven.

Aggressive middle push by fnatic thoen gave them the lead, and forced Na`Vi to save. A double by Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson made it 14-11, and even a triple by seized wasn't enough, as fnatic cruised to a 16-11 win.

Na`Vi got a much  better start on de_dust2. They won the defensive pistol round with ease, and seized's double in a three-on-three bailed them out against fnatic's force buy.

The Swedes allowed their opponents to build up a bunch of money, and abusing Na`Vi's problem are in CW match, middle, did not work as seized and Edward cleaned them up.

Down 0-5 after a save, a dual AWP setup got fnatic enough picks to get on the board, but a key two-on-two win by the B-side duo, and GuardiaN's kills forced fnatic on a save.

flusha was the hero at the very end

fnatic won the next round as starix came up short in a one-on-three attempt, but another triple by Edward broke fnatic's bank yet again, effectively making it 10-2 in their favor.

A one-on-one win by seized with a SCAR-20 forced the Swedes on another save, and doubles by olofmeister and flusha did little to help as they trailed 3-12 at half after terrorist side.

A one-shot USP-S headshot by Markus "pronax" Wallsten with two health saved fnatic on their counter-terrorist pistol round, and the Swedes got up 3-0 in the second half despite Edward's triple CZ75 kill on round three.

GuardiaN missed multiple shots on olofmeister on top of the A site on the first gun round in a one-on-one, but Na`Vi easily took out fnatic in the next, forcing the latter on a save.

Up 14-7, Na`Vi's in-game leader Zeus put in three AK-47 kills to give his team game point, and GuardiaN's ace, including a one-on-three, evened the series at 1-1 with a 16-7 score.

Edward was a one-man army in this series

The series came down to de_nuke, a map neither of the team practices. Zeus won his team the pistol round as counter-terrorists to give them an early lead at 3-0.

Two entries by pronax at ramp got them a round, and forced Na`Vi to save. They won a three-on-three next round, but fnatic simply walked out upper and forced them on another save.

Tied 4-4, JW won a crucial one-on-three with his AWP and a CZ75 with the bomb planted on the lower site, giving fnatic full money control as their opponents were forced on a third save round.

Na`Vi were picked apart next, and a pair of doubles by JW and olofmeister made it 8-4 for fnatic following Na`Vi's timeout. The ex-CIS team then adjusted with an outside setup, with seized scoring three M4A1-S kills.

Final round of the half went to fnatic again, without much resistance, but Edward and Zeus combined for five kills on their terrorist pistol round to keep their hopes alive.

fnatic talking things through

At 8-10 fnatic won two in a row, but Edward's two one-on-ones forced fnatic to take their timeout at 10-12. A triple, and a one-on-one win, by KRIMZ them got the Swedes to thirteen.

Two quick AWP kills by GuardiaN in a lower site after plant won Na`Vi a round, and crucially forced fnatic on two save rounds. Tied at 13-13, fnatic once again got a lead with a stop.

Once again it was up to Edward to score three kills to tie the game, but yet another CZ75 round loss, this time with olofmeister getting three, cost Na`Vi a chance at a regulation win.

The series was ultimately decided in the final round when fnatic's flusha won a crucial one-on-two, with a one-on-one against GuardiaN at the end, to win the map 16-14.

gg ul for na'vi that it was nuke
2014-08-16 12:34
ul? nuke has been around since CS:GO launched, how is it unlucky that they still haven't learned the map properly? gg wp fnatic, showed up better prepared and it showed.

i wouldnt say 14-16 against fnatic losing anti ecos and lost that round 1v3 isnt properly
2014-08-16 12:35
Yeah, they aren't even bad on nuke, people just keep trying to use it as some sort of excuse. "Oh no, they got nuke, that's why they lost." People just don't realize that using that excuse is dumb, since not being proficient on a map that has been around since launch is just silly. If nuke was really the reason then they wouldn't have lost inferno.
2014-08-16 12:43
It's quite clear NaVi don't know the map like at all... Did you watch their CT side? :D I mean rounds where f.e. JW just walked to main and shot seized to heaven. That shouldn't happen EVER. Did not see their T side though so I suppose fnatic are just pure shit in Nuke :\
2014-08-16 12:51
dumb is that fnatic don't train nuke also SO it was just randomness !
2014-08-16 15:32
Theyre gonna get raped in semis, you'll see.
2014-08-16 12:36
Be happy and stfu that fnatic got nuke as third map, in other two NaVi would rape them.
2014-08-16 12:37

2014-08-16 12:41
You're aware of that fnatic doesn't play nuke aswell, right?
2014-08-16 12:41
I am, but still. Old fnatic line-up was pretty good in last StarSeries season and had a lot of prac when NaVi never played and pracced nuke, just few esea cases.

Two teams playing out a map they can't play for a spot in the semifinals of a major tournament. Sick veto system valve, gj Also those 1v1 cams, seriously. Don't they watch their own stream or something?
2014-08-16 12:38
which map couldnt THEY play?
2014-08-16 12:40
Both fnatic and navi veto nuke normally. If it was a 5 map pool with the regular veto system, we'd have a map where both teams are really well prepared. Instead, we got a pubstyle mix match with no tactics and sloppy play. It was fun to watch, though.
2014-08-16 12:46
navi perhaps, fnatic aint THAT bad on nuke. they just fell in navis rhythm on ct-side.
2014-08-16 12:48
I still believe that with that kind of play fnatic would lose against dignitas, Titan, LDLC, NiP and even VP on nuke
2014-08-16 13:04
Maybe NaVi should have banned Nuke if they didn't want to play it.
2014-08-16 12:57
Well, the random veto system tempts you. It's 33% odds and Na'Vi was ready to gamble. Oh well, it turned out alright, they almost took it.
2014-08-16 13:03
yeah it would've been awesome to watch them playing train as deciding map, they were both pretty cool on it

I think it just needs a few alterations. Make it more expensive, give it a longer reload time, fewer bullets in the magazine and/or make it less accurate.
2014-08-16 12:58
Yea sure, but it's not needed, it hasn't made the game more exciting, it's made it more random, sure you could nerf it so no one buys it anyway, but frankly I think it's better off gone.

only able to win in their own countries ? What? I think you are braindead
2014-08-16 12:49
well, I think you're one of those 90% retards on this site so who cares. Your brain is so limited that words like "SOME" are invisible for you and reading between lines lies far beyond your reach. Sad, but no worries I guess you're coming back to school soon so pay attention during lessons. Maybe one day your brain will start working as god designed it to work.
2014-08-16 13:22
and by SOME which teams do you mean?
2014-08-16 14:25
fnatic - Dreamhack Sweden Na'Vi - SLTV Ukraine IBP - ESEA USA LDLC - ESWC last year France
2014-08-16 14:39
That's like 15y old logic, NaVi has been dominating events in 1.6 in many countries so your argument about them is invalid, in France it wasnt LDLC it was Clan-Mystik, fnatic were underperfoming as a team they had troubles with that lineup even in Sweden after Dreamhack, i can only agree for iBP they seem to be a lot worse outside USA.
2014-08-16 17:19
Haha it's funny how a guy who ACTUALLY represents such logic tries to implement it to other person. We're here and now, 1.6 is far behind so wtf is wrong with you to mention about it? Buahahaha I can't fuckin believe it, not to mention the freaking LINEUPS. So Clan-Mystik, who cares. French team won in France it's another evidence.. WOW WHO CARES ABOUT fnatic having problems in SWEDEN later?! THE only tournament they did well on was DREAMHACK IN SWEDEN. All of those examples are 100% accurate. In CS:GO there are teams winning events only in their countries. I gave you the evidence in black and white. So stop this bullshit replies because I won't waste anymore time to explain you obvious sh!t. Have a good day

love all those whining at map or cz because you lost skins. News for you, its a major tournament, both teams knew this could happend. And both teams can buy the cz so it doesnt favour just one team. GG, was suprised how shaky both ct sides were, but flusha showed he is a man of the big situations. Doesnt matter thought because dignitas is going to stomp everyone all the way to victory.

All of u the above haters need to stop blaming Na`Vi. I was surprised (kind of) twice: 1st when I saw nuke is being played and 2nd the final score was so close on it 16:14 to fnatic... Basically, if it wasn't for that damn randomized new system then Na`Vi would have never ended up playing this map as they have never ever pracced it since the beginning of their CS 1.5 / 1.6 days and were always able to cross this map vs other teams, they never needed to worry about it and now BOOOM, its ESL One Cologne and they ended up playing it and Na`Vi played it ridiculously well (at least that's what the score shows). So, fnatic almost screwed up on that one, but they won and GL to them... So, if you want to blame someone, blame the veto and valve rather than the team that couldn't help it much, but still did the best they could in a situation they were randomly put in. So gg!

Na'Vi gave fnatic one hell of a fight on nuke on t side which forced fnatic a bit sloppy, and they also played really well on dust2. So really good job by Na'Vi.
2014-08-16 16:07
Close one :D

Hopefully this will be a wakeup call to Na'Vi to practice the hell out of Nuke.
