fnatic beat Na`Vi to win StarSeries X
fnatic won SLTV StarSeries X following a 3-2 victory over Natus Vincere (17-19 on de_mirage, 16-3 on de_inferno, 11-16 on de_train and 16-14 on de_dust2).
Having won the knife round, Na`Vi got to picked the side they wanted to start on de_mirage, and it is no surprise that they chose the highly-favored CT side. fnatic went for a straight apartment rush in the pistol round and managed to plant the bomb in B, but Na`Vi easily retook the site to win the first round of the game.
In the first gun round, fnatic went for an A split and almost got the round as Markus "pronax" Wallsten got three kills, but the Swedish player fell short against Denis "seized" Kostin in the final confrontation. In the following round, fnatic attacked A again, but this time they executed the strategy to perfection to reduce the deficit to 1-4.
Still, Na`Vi kept their cool and won the next four rounds thanks to a lot of key kills from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, after which fnatic got their second round of the match. That was as far as the Swedes went, however, as Na`Vi went on to make it 13-2 in their favor.
Things then went from bad to worse for fnatic as Na`Vi added two more rounds to their tally following an A push in the pistol round, but then the Swedish side executed one of the biggest comebacks in the history of CS:GO as they strung 13 rounds together to force the match into overtime.
Still playing on the CT side, fnatic got two first two overtime rounds but fell short in the third one, a mistake that would prove costly, as Na`Vi got three rounds as CT to walk away with a 19-17 win.
Na´Vi take the lead
On de_inferno, fnatic, who played the first half on the lesser-favored Terrorist side, took the initiative and won the first round with relative ease and the following two anti-eco rounds.
Surprisingly enough, Na`Vi were having a hard time to get a grip on the game, which allowed fnatic to further enlarge their lead to 6-0. The Ukrainian side then finally managed to get a round of their own, but they were immediately kept at bay by their opponents, which broke the team’s economy.
fnatic continued in the driving seat and won all rounds left in the first half except the last one, which gave them a 13-2 lead when they switched to the CT side.
The second half’s pistol round was a complete slaughter fest in the middle, with Na`Vi coming out on top as they got five kills without losing a single player. However, the Ukrainian team were not able to capitalize on that and were immediately dealt a huge blow by fnatic, who ran out 16-3 winners.
KRiMZ was a one-man army on the first two maps
Next up was de_train, where Na`Vi got to start on the CT side. In the pistol round, fnatic went for an inner push and managed to plant the bomb, but the Ukrainian players retook the site very easily and defused the bomb.
After losing the second round, fnatic decided to buy and rush the outer side, hoping to get some long-range kills, but they were simply outaimed by the home side, who also won the anti-eco round that followed.
With the score 4-0 in favor of Na´Vi, fnatic went for a double AWP setup and got two early kills, one from Jesper "JW" Wecksell, the other from Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer, but the Swedes still fell short after planting the bomb.
fnatic were looking helpless at times here, and a perfect example of that came in the eighth round, when they rushed the outer bombsite and planted the bomb. The Swedish team had a one-man advantage but still they were outplayed by Na´Vi, who remained in control of the game and picked up a commanding 13-2 lead.
The Swedish team came out the brighter in the second half and won the first four rounds, but then they were taken aback by a great strategy from Na`Vi, who faked the inner bombsite with two players to get all the opponents to rotate, this way leaving the other bombsite clear.
Robin "flusha" Rönnquist then got three kills to his name to keep his team’s hopes alive, but this time a comeback was not in the cards for fnatic, as Na`Vi ran out 16-11 winners to take the game to a fourth map, de_dust2.
GuardiaN's AWP was as lethal as ever
On de_dust2, Na´Vi, who were playing on the Terrorist side, rushed B in the pistol round and planted the bomb, but they lost control of the bombsite in a 3-on-3 situation. Na´Vi then went for a mid-B split, and such a move paid off, with Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev flanking two opponents in the tunnel before getting two more kills inside the bombsite.
Na`Vi went on to get the following two rounds to make it 3-1 in their favor, but a great retake from fnatic in the following round allowed the Swedes to close the gap to just one round.
GuardiaN, with two AWP kills from the T spawn, paved the way for his team to get back into the game, at which point the match was paused because of internet problems. For the rest of the first half, neither side could really find a breakthrough, but in the end it would be fnatic to be happier of the two as they switched to the highly-favored T side leading 8-7.
fnatic picked up where they had left off and added to their lead by winning the pistol round with a B rush. In gun play, Na´Vi picked themselves up and turned the deficit around, eventually making it 13-12 for them. It looked like the home side would take the title, but two rounds in a row for fnatic gave the Swedes the lead and forced Na´Vi to go on eco.
The last round went down to the wire, but Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko could not take down the second opponent after being left in a nail-bitting 1-on-2 situation in A, and so fnatic ran out 16-14 winners and collected the $14,000 cheque.
