myXMG, PKD, AliGon & ALT top Q2

Last four teams that will have a chance to fight for a place at DreamHack Winter 2014 were determined in tonight's second open qualifier, and they are myXMG, Planetkey Dynamics, AliGon and ALTERNATE.

The first 12 teams in the 16-team European qualifier were known after yesterday's qualifier #1 and earlier today when the 8 invites were announced, so it only remained to see which four will join them from the second open qualifier.

The first to do so were Danes myXMG, although in a revamped lineup that featured Michael "Friis" Jørgensen and Danni "smF" Dyg.

Their road wasn't too difficult overall, but they did have a lot of trouble against Swedes highgrade in Round of 64 when they mounted a comeback to win 16-14 on de_dust2.

Later on the deciding quarter-final match pitted them against one of France's four remaining ESWC hopefuls, iGamerz, and the Danes ran over them with a 16-5 scoreline on de_overpass.

Friis teamed up with MSL & HUNDEN and made it to the Closed qual

Planetkey Dynamics were knocked out yesterday in Ro32 by a team that ended up being disqualified for cheating a round later, TBD, and they hid no feelings towards FACEIT admins for the way things turned out.

This time they played with the youngster Alexander "alexRr" Frisch as a stand-in for Dimitrios "stavros" Smoilis, and they managed to go all the way with wins over teams such as eXes (3rd at Danish ESWC qualifier, albeit in somewhat different composition), French side Platinium and finally their countrymen MTW, whom they defeated 16-9 on de_inferno to clinch the spot.

MODDII may get a chance to take on NBK again

Andreas "MODDII" Fridh, who yesterday played with his former fnatic teammate Friis in a mix-team DkZ and failed to make it through Infused in Ro16, today teamed up with Jerry "xelos" Råberg in AliGon.

They defeated Serbian mix iNation 16-12, then Danish youngsters Gamersphere 16-11 and finally a Danish mix uN featuring former dignitas and CPH Wolves member René "cajunb" Borg 16-4.

In the last quarter-final, DH Stockholm participants ALTERNATE met French team Katrina who had just won 16-14 over Marcus "Delpan" Larsson & co. Their de_nuke clash ended with the Germans overturning a 6-9 T side deficit to a 16-12 win and booking the final spot for Tuesday.

Here are the last four qualified teams and their rosters:

Denmark myXMG

Denmark Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen
Denmark Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen
Denmark Michael "Friis" Jørgensen
Denmark Danni "smF" Dyg
Denmark Asger "AcilioN" Larsen

Germany Planetkey Dynamics

Germany Anil "cLy" Gülec
Germany Tobias "Troubley" Tabbert
Germany Johannes "nex" Maget
Germany Hendrik "strux1" Goetzendorff
Germany Alexander "alexRr" Frisch (stand-in for stavros)

Sweden AliGon

Sweden Jerry "xelos" Råberg
Sweden Andreas "MODDII" Fridh
Sweden Mattias "khobra" Heidnert
Sweden Marcus "makkeP" Persson
Sweden Gustav "KAB0M" Runemalm

Germany ALTERNATE

Turkey Fatih "gob b" Dayik
Germany Michele "zonixx" Köhler
Germany Manuel "approx" Zeitz
Germany Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch
Germany Simon "smn" Beck

Additionally, the admins stated that yesterday's supposed matches for seeds will not count and that the teams weren't told they had to play them. Therefore, there was no matches after the quarter-final today and all teams will have the same starting point at the Closed qualifier.

Here are the 16 teams set to attempt to qualify for the $250,000 tournament at DreamHack Winter 2014:

France LDLC Ukraine HellRaisers Denmark CPH Wolves Europe mousesports
Finland 3DMAX Spain x6tence Null element dAT Norway London Conspiracy
Sweden FlipSid3 Sweden duttdutt Germany PENTA Poland ESC
Denmark myXMG Sweden AliGon Germany ALTERNATE Germany Planetkey Dynamics

The European Closed Qualifier will take place on October 21st-22nd with a single elimination bracket starting at 19:00 . The 4 teams that lose in the quarter-final will after battle for the 5th spot in a new bracket.

Ex6tenz had Vac-ban in source. Is he banned from Valve Torunaments? No. Why? The rule is only for cLy. Craziest rule ever but if you do it, do it for all. No cLy, Ex6tenz, flamie, emilio, nooky, xelos, delpan etc. etc.!
2014-10-20 14:03

The rule was put in for cs:go Bans. Not 1.6 or source.
2014-10-20 14:34
But Ex6tenz is not a cheater. cLy,emilio and others are. Your argument is invalid.
2014-10-20 15:40
How about players like S1mple. He has been banned from esl in 22 years, or something like that, for cheating. It says so on his profile.

It's not the same story. The rule is, that anyone with a VAC ban in CSGO aren't allowed to compete in Valve funded tournaments.

He still mentioned xelos, xelos was not vac banned, he was esl banned without prove of cheating. The admins just said he was cheating.

The rule counts for everyone who's got a VAC ban in CSGO.
2014-10-20 16:42
most likely valve do not want people who are banned in csgo for cheating on a valve account in their tournaments however they currently have not yet released any information regarding it
2014-10-20 19:35
he is still allowed to carry his team on the qualifiers. wierd no? I saw your blacklist idea, it's should work as a ban like 2-3 years. Why? because of mistake..when you child...or maybe 5years. I think it's time to invest on some anti-cheat lan. (you should watch for EAC or ESEA)
2014-10-20 12:00

I mean, if you cheat and are under 18, I can probaly just set it to a 365 or 2 year ban. But if you are over 18 i think you should be banned for life. Its wired i know, but we have been bad to be clear about this, at the same time cheaters should use common sense like everyone else. :)

So players who got caught cheating in csgo are still welcome to the majors... Awesome for the community, not only does one face a million cheaters when playing MM now you can also enjoy cheaters on the big stage. If valve and the events(those not funded by valve) truely wants to help the community, please just have a zero tolerance rule regarding cheaters :).

Yeah okay I didnt think about that :D But that ESL event was supported by VALVE so i assume valve supports AEQ/esl ac.. Regardless there need to be rules about these players not being allowed EVER to play in competition again. Sends the wrong signal when they can enter tournaments after getting banned. If its a correct ban that is, no one should suffer from an incorrect bad obviously ;)

Fetish, don't worry. Vac-Banned players are not allowed to participate. Why they still are qualifying must be a mix of "hope they forgot" and the fact that valve and Dreamhacks rules don't apply to the face-it qual.
2014-10-20 11:12

Yeah i figured :D But regardless all lans/online tournaments need to be more strict about these individuals. Once a player gets caught cheating that person should never be allowed to enter competetive play again. Anywhere.

I can tell you that we're currently looking into some kind of a blacklist system. Where a player that is caught cheating will be lifetime banned from all leagues. As it is not its just retarded, players with vac is actually thinking for real that they are welcome because "dh didnt say anything", so in their minds that is equal to "Vac-bans is legit in dreamhack"

because apparently everyone is invited to cheat the fuck out of qualifiers in faceit and the admins dont give a shit
2014-10-20 13:33
There needs to be more control over this because it's unacceptable that ESL and ESWC still allow cLy and other VAC banned players to play just cause they weren't banned in their own competition. I mean they got banned by Valve from playing the actual game, there's no leeway there. Unless they can actually prove it was a mistake (which is a less than 1% chance), they should be done for all events. What I'd do is 2 year ban for under-18 players and career ban for 18+. Then let's see who thinks it's worth trying to cheat.

One of the guys from Planetkey said in another thread that cLy won't be allowed to play. I guess faceit is the ones to blame for letting him play in the qualifier, as they were hosting it. As far as I can tell, everyone who's got a VAC ban in CSGO isn't allowed to play in the Valve funded tournaments. Why other tournaments don't follow that rule set, I've no clue and I agree with you on that part.

bo1 single :DDDDDDD Are we in a hurry finding the teams for DHW? Don't do anything half, do it right, or do nothing at all. I'd rather play with WIRE as long its bo3 doublE :>

yeah indeed its fucking shit method of qualifiers to such a great tournament, a horrible joke :\ i liked quals thru ESL much more
2014-10-20 14:10
Pimp, we are not in a hurry, it's up to FaceIT how they wanna find the teams. As long as it's equal for everyone. For me personally, I will try to make qualifiers different for next tournament. But that is not where we are right now.

Then talk to faceit about it? It should not be so hard to see that what they are doing is not alright.... bo1 single elimination is a fucking joke.. Stand up for something please..
2014-10-20 14:58
faceit is ignorant, unprofessional and unorganized. they shouldn't be allowed to host anything like that. the teams should seriously boycott this ridiculous qualifier. i guess even ESL would be able to host a better tournament in no time. 1 more round and we'd had a bunch of german cheaters on their way to dreamhack. because of that, matches until 4:00 in the morning. well played.
2014-10-20 15:28
No worries Pimp, with the skill you've been playing at lately, you'll topfrag any game vs any mix team / old cheater. Just keep madfragging, dude! Gl with fnatic today :D

Faceit being Faceit once again. It's honestly saddening in SO many ways, that Faceit gets to host these kinds of tournaments, when they are so unprofessional it hurts. For starters, BO1? Why the fuck would it ever be BO1, is DHW this weekend? I think not. Remove the random factor (upsets on bo1 are WAY more likely than bo3), it is a fucking MAJOR after all. Second of, cLy? It's a Valve-sponsored major tournament, why is he still allowed to play the qualifiers? Their full team should get DQ'd and the team they knocked out should get their spot. Honestly at this rate, no wonder people start to prefer MM over Faceit. This is just a clear sign that you care not for the community, you care for profit.
2014-10-20 14:22
1.LDLC 2.HR 3.Mous 4.3DMAX 5. 5TH spot is gonna be even but i belive on LC

if vac-banned people are not allowed to participate, then it should mean (in theory) that LDLC wouldn't be able to attend as well, since Happy has got a vac ban, too. steamcommunity.com/profiles/765611979782..

Hltv logic strikes again, just because I'm from germany doesnt mean that I support cLy in anyway, I hate what he did as much as anyone else on hltv. I'm sorry if I hitted your g-spot with my comment, and now would just kindly fuck off? 4-0

Only VAC bans in CS:GO are relevant, according to Valve rules

2014-10-20 15:53
Haha that's so fucking funny. Before cheating : "woaaah, cly unbelievable, super nice TURKISH player, nice nice nice!" After cheating : "Lol, fucking GERMAN hacker cunt, hacking like every GERMAN player" So many reverse-nazis here, hilarious :D
