ALTERNATE dismiss smn

November 17th, 2014 19:01

Team ALTERNATE have announced that they have cut ties with Simon "smn" Beck following the player's cheating incident on ESEA.

The German community woke up to the news that ALTERNATE's Simon "smn" Beck, formerly of n!faculty, had been banned on ESEA for a year after being caught cheating by the company's game client.

With ALTERNATE due to attend the EPS Finals, in Cologne, in less than a month, the news immediately led to speculation surrounding smn's future on the team.
HLTV.org knows that smn had prepared a statement in which he professed his innocence in this case and affirmed that he had appealed against the decision.
However, such protest was quickly closed by ESEA, which resulted in ALTERNATE removing the player from the team with immediate effect.
"After we initially waited for an apeal, we must now assume that smn used cheats in his role as a player for Team ALTERNATE," a statement from ALTERNATE reads.
"Of course, this goes against everything that Team ALTERNATE wants to stand for, so we would like to apologise to our opponents, our fans and the CS:GO community for the behavior of the player.
"Moreover, the player will, of course, be removed with immediate effect from the lineup, and ALTERNATE also reserves the right to take further legal steps due his defamatory conduct."

smn did go on lan and did fine aswell.
2014-11-17 20:11
Aye but still a cheater, which also begs the question, if you can do well on LAN why the fuck cheat? 12 year olds cheating to get GE in the hopes it gets them some pussy is fair enough, good players who play good on LAN cheating beggars belief.
2014-11-17 20:18
read lurppis's news post about the upcoming dreamhack winter event - apparently every team that gets to be in there gets 50,000$ in stickers, which is probably a good enough reason to cheat...

2014-11-17 19:05
as long as there are FPS games there will be cheaters.. there were many cheaters in 1.6 also ( also on this semi-pro scene) but VAC for 1.6 haven't been updated for fucking long time so that's why a few were caught.. Also no one played ESEA during 1.6 times in EU so you could be banned only by VAC or ESL Wire ( or Aequitas if some of you guys still recognize what is that) So basically your argument is false
2014-11-17 19:11

Peru dbie
the fact that this is happening so often in the pro/semi-pro scene is ridiculous. VAC was shit in 1.6 but the private anticheat programs were pretty efficient.
2014-11-17 19:14
totally agree! the popularity of CSGO brings in lower skilled players and ofc everyone wants to be good, so cheats make them good? np they will use them!
2014-11-17 19:38
I told you only reliable anticheat that was used back in the days was ESL Wire(Aequitas) and you could easily avoid playing just ESL.. Also back in the days noone played pugs - most of the community were playing just mirc mixes
2014-11-17 20:12
here in latinamerica we had the sXe injected, that shit was rock solid, I'm not sure about how it worked in europe but I doubt their anticheats were worse.
2014-11-17 20:41
We had easy anti-cheater that time :)
2014-11-17 20:26
dude don't tell me that you find EAC proper anticheat please
2014-11-17 20:36
was practically a free anti cheater....was better than nothing right ?? or do u think vac was better ? I'm not comparing with the esea or esl anticheater
2014-11-17 20:58
EAC was a free anticheat that is true.. but cmon these advanced cheaters like smn emilio or zaider could've easily bypas anticheat like this

2014-11-17 19:16
So he used good configuration of silent aim because many people thought that his kills are simply flickshots which are common on 16tick demos. After this strange players will avoid ESEA. Anyway Valve should do some kind of commands for server operators so they can set recording demo tick from 16 to min. 64, currently we can set it by these commands: tv_snapshotrate <n> //Sets world snapshots broadcasted per second by GOTV (master only). But it change the snapshot rate for viewers too but it should be 16tick for viewers but 64tick while recording demos by server. Viewers = 16tick Demos = 64tick So it would be easier to check player shooting behaviour etc.
2014-11-17 19:16
agree 100%, it's a logical and not very difficult step that would make detecting cheats easier.

2014-11-17 19:54
true. and i'm actually wondering... would an esea admin be able to ban (popular) players on purpose and make it seem like they were banned by the esea client? right now smn's career has been ruined just because of the faith we're having in the esea's integrity. and what else have we actually gotten to see other than that ban note on smn's profile?
2014-11-18 09:55

"Of course, this goes against everything that Team ALTERNATE wants to stand for" Yet they accepted kRYSTAL on the team back in 2011, even though he was the most famous hacker in all of CS:S history. Just sayin'. youtube.com/watch?v=_0UvhF6LpYQ

"...ALTERNATE also reserves the right to take further legal steps due his defamatory conduct." Just do it already. Cheaters get away far too easy no matter how much damage they do to a company.
2014-11-17 21:58
So true, would be great if cheaters got to see that what they do can lead to more than just being kicked from their team

Having your appeal quickly closed means you are 100% cheating. The other ones that have cheating bans overturned are those that became ESEA employees(cakeBUILDER) or someone like slemmy who might of triggered something that bugged their detection.
2014-11-18 02:08

Honestly would like to see some more solid proof. What cheats did he use? Why should we buy into these ban notes without being provided with the evidence? People can potentially have their careers destroyed on false grounds because of this blind reliance on anti cheat systems and networks.

+1 I think ESEA or any website anticheat related, should expose wich cheat they DETECT, in this case people won't go for them and maybe they will stop trying hard to cheat
2014-11-18 18:06
I think ESEA or any website anticheat related, should expose wich cheat they DETECT Yeah, let's save cheaters from getting banned by telling them which cheat got detected & that they have to wait until its update. Probably one of the most stupid things I've ever read. You do understand that this will make cheat manufacturers' job MUCH easier? in this case people won't go for them and maybe they will stop trying hard to cheat It's better when those kiddos use detected cheats and get banned. Your suggestion will only make cheater's life easier.
2014-11-19 10:54
Yeah, let's save cheaters from getting banned by telling them which cheat got detected & that they have to wait until its update. Probably one of the most stupid things I've ever read. You do understand that this will make cheat manufacturers' job MUCH easier? So let's them play one month with a detected cheat to destroy every online qualifer. Expose what is detected, people will fear.
2014-11-19 13:01
It's not a fucking VAC, client-side anticheats ban you instantly or after a short period of time if they detect that cheating software is being used. While with a FULL list of detected cheats, don't you think that cheaters will simply buy an undetected one, causing a lot more trouble?
2014-11-19 14:22
They will try, but if some one can found undetected cheat, this means admin can find it = ez blacklist
