LanTrek announced with $6,000

LanTrek will host a $6,000 tournament from February 26th-March 1st at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre in Tampere, Finland.

The Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre will play a host to this year's edition of LanTrek, which will hand out $6,000 in prizemoney, which is nearly a $1,200 increase from last year.

LanTrek 2015 is open for eight teams, which will be put into GSL-system groups, heading into a best-of-three single elimination bracket.

natu's ENCE won last year's event

The qualifier for two teams has already been played out with Finland's revoluted realm and Estonian manupelaa advancing to the grand final last week. For teams to be able to participate, you can ask for an invitation through this form, as six teams will be invited.

Last year's event was won by Joona "natu" Leppänen and Aleksi "allu" Jalli's ENCE, who defeated Menace 2-0 for the first place prize of €2,000.

Yeah well i think thats good for some unknown teams from Nordic/Baltic countries (Estonia mainly)
2015-02-02 17:49
Winning 6000$ would be like winning lottery in brazil?.
2015-02-02 19:31
That 6k will be split between top3 teams most likely. So winner doesnt get 6k :D
2015-02-03 03:46
finn and can't understand that rrrekt
2015-02-03 12:18
You imply that he did not understand that? He just told that 6k is much money to brazil ppl.
2015-02-03 17:10

2015-02-03 18:59

2015-02-08 00:29

2015-02-02 17:47

This tournament is mainly for not-so-well-known Nordic teams...
2015-02-02 18:00
yy, agree, glad that the scene develops, though not so fast.. GL
2015-02-02 18:05
which will be put into GSL-system groups, heading into a best-of-three single elimination bracket. How have CS tournament organisers still not learned that this tournament format is fucking random LOL
2015-02-02 17:47
More random than classic round robin in groups where a 2-0-1 doesn't have to mean you're through?
2015-02-02 17:50
No but brackets need to be double elim.
2015-02-02 18:16
they're both awful. it's really silly to have a really compact format like this in long tournaments, why not have e.g. a round robin with all teams in one group and then double elim playoffs, maybe with the bottom four starting off from the lower bracket? even larger yet not necessarily longer tournaments like dreamhack would benefit from a format like this or at least something remotely similar
2015-02-02 18:16
Sure, having like 8 teams in every group would be the best case scenario (at least for majors), though it's basically impossible seeing as tournaments only have a limited amount of time to work with and this prolongs it
2015-02-02 18:21
double brackets were working in CPL tournaments for ages. why someone changed it?
2015-02-02 18:28
change is humans behavior.
2015-02-03 03:39
Nice
2015-02-02 17:54
6k might not seem all that much in the context of prize pools in international events these days but it's still great for us in terms of incentive to practice.
