CEVO S7 with $135,000 purse

CEVO has announced that it has guaranteed a minimum $135,000 prize fund for its premium CS:GO divisions for season 7.

Following the success of the RGN Intercontinental Open tournaments, CEVO has decided to officially reach out to Europe, where it will open pay-to-play and free-to-play CS:GO divisions.

Season 7's professional division will culminate with the offline finals at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio, from July 24-26, where the top four teams from Europe and North America will duke it out for their share of the $75,000 prize purse. CEVO will also offer the participating teams $42,000 in travel support.

To earn an invite to this division, teams will have to prove their worth in the off-season placement tournament, which will take place from March 22 to April 9.

CEVO has also announced that it will turn to crowdfunding to beef up their prizes, so a lot more money could be on offer in Season 7, which is scheduled to start on April 19.

Unbelievable. I believe this prize pool is more than any major in 1.6 history, except for ESWC 2006. Who would have thought prize pools would be this tremendous two years ago?
2015-03-09 20:02
oh god.. welcome to new era of cs, guys!

From a joke of North-American scene to one of the largest events in just under a year... damn that great to see, keep up the good work!

For those wondering where the massive amount of money came from, it was MLG. I'm all for MLG investing in CS but the problem now is that CEVO will stream all of its matches on MLG rather than Twitch...

fuck it who cares, what matters is that csgo pro scene is growing with no sign of stopping. Also mlg is not that bad people will bitch about anything these days.

It's their streaming service, its truly awful. The quality is so bad even at the highest setting its super grainy. Not to mention the constant buffering
2015-03-09 23:59
eh, I'm already over it. MLGTV is has terrible some terrible video compression though that makes twitch look like some kind of bastion of fidelity.
2015-03-09 23:19
wow, big improvement. CEVO must be flush with that MLG cashflow. grats on getting that partnership guys.
2015-03-09 23:14

Asia is always forgotten :(
2015-03-10 02:17
Too bad NA hasn't got anymore legends to play for it. R.I.P. Swag's career.
2015-03-10 04:09
I kind of fear that same thing will happen that did with NA sc2. Americans starting to compete with prizepools that are not sustainable (IPL, MLG, NASL) and soon all of them are either bankrupt or out of sc2. Maybe this is sustainable with MLG giving CEVO money to run their tournament, maybe not.
2015-03-10 05:05
Now that's an improvement. Yet we see Copenhagen Games with a pricepool of 26.000€. :(
2015-03-10 07:12
MLG arena, I will expect very good coverage
2015-03-10 08:06
First i thought there are 135k on the line for US teams only. Sounded like a small major with a big prizepool so US teams would finnaly have the feeling of winning a good prizemoney but then ive seen EU teams there aswell and then i thought like, rip murican dream... Another big prizepool to be grabed by the EU teams making the muricans cry in their own country
