EnVyUs to semi-finals over Na`Vi

EnVyUs are through to the ESL One Katowice semi-finals following a 2-1 victory over Natus Vincere (16-12 on de_cache, 14-16 on de_dust2 and 16-3 on de_cobblestone).

On de_cache, it was Na`Vi who claimed bragging rights first, thanks to a quad kill from Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev, their pistol master, in the opening round of the map. Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács and Denis "seized" Kostin followed it up with three kills of their own in the first and second gun rounds, respectively, to give the Ukrainian side a sizeable 5-0 lead.

EnVyUs only managed to break Na`Vi’s momentum in the seventh round, but still they managed to start a streak that lasted for five rounds. With seized doing a great job in the fragging department, Na`Vi were able to get the last three rounds to sit on a 10-5 lead going into the break.

In the second half, Na`Vi once again came out the better and won the pistol round despite Richard "shox" Papillon killing four Na`Vi players in a 1-on-4 situation in A as he did not have enough time to defuse the bomb. Still, the Ukrainians were caught off-guard in the first anti-eco round as they carelessly pushed towards A without checking for opponents first.

EnVyUs went on to add the next four rounds to reduce the gap to 10-11, after which Na`Vi picked up a round of their own. However, the Frenchmen quickly regained control of the proceedings and secured six rounds in a row to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

EnVyUs scored first blood

Next up was de_dust2, where EnVyUs got off to a great start as they strolled to an early 5-0 lead. Both teams then went for a double AWP setup, and this time around it was Na`Vi who prevailed in the gun battle.

The next round then went to EnVyUs, who were now leading 6-1, but two AWP kills from the Terrorist spawn put Na`Vi in a 3-on-5 situation and allowed them to get back into the game. The rest of the half was neck-and-neck, with neither sidle being able to stamp their authority, and in the end EnVyUs were enjoying a narrow 8-7 lead before switching to the Terrorist side.

For the majority of the second half, it was a very close game to call as rounds kept going back and forth, but Na`Vi kept their cool and eventually took the score to 15-13 following some great fragging from GuardiaN. A forced buy from EnVyUs wreaked havoc in Na`Vi’s defense and took the match to the very last round, which ended up going to the Ukrainians despite the fact that they had the money disadvantage.

GuardiaN powered Na`Vi to equalise the series

After such an exciting map, fans were certainly disappointed to see that de_cobblestone was nothing more than a way-one street: despite some very close first rounds, EnVyUs, who started the map on the CT side, simply took control of proceedings from the fifth round onwards and went into the break with a whopping 13-2 lead.

The former LDLC side picked up where they had left off and added two more rounds to their tally to get on the brink of victory. Na`Vi then won their third round of the map, but it was simply too little, too late, as EnVyUs claimed the following round to seal passage into the semi-final stage of the tournament.

WP Na'Vi, EnvyUS is the better team as it stands and deserve to move on. It's been said again and again, but if Starix can start contributing consistently or be replaced by someone who can..... Na'Vi will finally be able to win these types of games. Not until then =/

i agree in removing De_Cobbleshit, it really isn't a well developed map enough for competitive scene yet... and i don't think they can make it so :/ I would love to see Season instead of train though, i really think that map has potential of being a great competitive map. but yeah... that's just my opinion. I really relly don't like Cbble

starix -25 :D, he was always my favorite player but it is time for him to leave navi
2015-03-13 16:52
it's sad to see but he should really be replaced, LAN after LAN he doesn't show up.
2015-03-13 17:00
really sad to see that teams and tournaments gets decided by this trashmap 99,9% people and 100% of the players would rather play inferno, mirage, tuscan or oldschool train as 3rd map, thats competitive cs, cbble is a shame. it already ruined a major in cologne right after it got released, now it gets played in half the bo1 and as decider map in bo3 after being updated and changed only a couple of weeks ago. really sad shit bcuz it will be in other quarter-, semi and maybe even grandfinal again.
2015-03-13 16:56
it's a shame the changes to cbble only came so recently so teams didn't really have time to properly train it, I honestly think this new cbble isnt all that bad, way more competitive than the old one that's for sure.
2015-03-13 16:58
it should be compared to inferno, mirage, oldschool train or tuscan, not to the older cbble. its not hard to be a better map than the previous one, thats doesnt make it competitive and shouldnt decide on this level
2015-03-13 17:00
Recently? There's been more than enough time to practice it though.
2015-03-13 17:02

I just wanna see season instead of cbble. The old train will not come back, the new one is rubbish and we could be sure than tuscan is nowhere near the horizon for CSGO. Maybe try mist? (it would surely be fun to watch pro's on it)

I'm sad to say this but it's time for starix to retire. He had a stellar 1.6 career but it simply did not translate to go. They need someone who can go big aside from GuardiaN and seized. The problem is, i don't know who they can add...
