fnatic sweep past PENTA Sports

fnatic have secured their place in the ESL One Katowice semi-finals after defeating PENTA Sports 2-0 (16-8 on de_inferno 16-7 on de_cache).

de_inferno was fnatic’s map of choice and they showed why they picked it in the opening round as they cruised past PENTA on their way to the A site, courtesy of Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer’s quad kill with the deadly Tec-9.

fnatic were then caught off-guard by an ecoing PENTA side, but the Germans got a taste of their own medicine right after as they also slipped up in the anti-eco round.

The Swedish team went on to take the score to 3-1, but then PENTA picked themselves up and equalized the game on three rounds. A 1-on-2 clutch from Jesper "JW" Wecksell in B then put fnatic back in the lead, and the Swedes did not take their foot off the gas until the end of the first half as they took up a sizeable 11-4 lead going into the second half.

Now playing on the Terrorist side, PENTA found a lifeline by winning the first four rounds of  the half, but double kills from JW and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist in the 20th round brought the Germans' streak to an end. From here on PENTA struggled to break the defensive setup from fnatic, who got the five rounds they needed as CT to get a one-map advantage in the series.

JW vs. dignitas

jw was on fire on the first map

de_cache was the map that followed, and here PENTA came inches away from winning the opening round after planting the bomb in A, but a triple kill from flusha in the retake spoiled their plans.

A third-round buy from PENTA almost bore fruits thanks to a triple kill from Tobias "Troubley" Tabbert, but flusha was in the right place to clutch it for his team in a 1-on-2.

It was only six rounds into the map that PENTA finally managed to break fnatic's defense, following a B push, but that did little to prevent the Swedes from running riot as they brought the score to 12-3 at the end of the half.

An A push from fnatic in the pistol round as Terrorists then saw them further extend their lead to 14-3. PENTA still attempted to produce a comeback and pulled some rounds together, one of them thanks to an ace from Denis "denis" Howell, but there was nothing they could do to stop fnatic from picking up the win here.

you understand "sweep" phrase is used when someone ends on 0 right? in nba terms sweeping is winning the series 4:0
2015-03-13 19:22
So? Does that change anything? Exactly, no. -.-'
2015-03-13 19:24
It's as much for us as it is for you guys, it gets tedious writing similar titles all the time (=}

Of course it does! :p

"de_cache was the map that followed, and here PENTA came inches away from winning the opening map" I think there's a typo. You meant "opening round".

Today scheduling is really awful from ESL. Making nV - Na'Vi, the most interesting quarter-final of today, be played at 13:00 CET, when most people in EU are working or at school, and in NA most likely sleeping, was really a stupid decision. Especially since it makes no sense and there is no logic behind it, since NiP - TSM are playing tomorrow we could have expected the match to take place at 19:00. VP - Keyd would have been played at 16:00, which would not make much of a difference for Brazilian fans since either way they have to watch the match during day time. Instead we've had to suffer PENTA getting demolished by fnactic, as expected, for the end of the afternoon. I hope we won't see Keyd suffer the same treatment from VP tonight or that would make for a really disappointing experience for spectating quarter-finals of a major tournament ...

keyd is gonna take it over vp you heard it here first

add me on friends "LEGZ" I will give you a free asiimov FT if that happens
2015-03-13 19:32
It's not that unlikely. Pretty much the worst enemy VP could've gotten drawn except Penta since they have no clue what to expect from KeyD. Nobody knows what to expect. VP is not prepared for them probably but for others they are.
2015-03-13 19:34
they dont have the fire power to take down vp... believe me , keyd are going to be stomped
2015-03-13 19:38
Could be, the odds are higher that they get stomped especially since it's in Poland but it could also happen that they're not prepared for them at all.

the whole VP team has 2 years of CSGO experience ahead of Keyd. Not to mention 3/5 of VP's are some of the most decorated players EVER in e-sports. no my friend, I was just being realistic. Keyd can try to be a top4 in the future but definitely not now.
