FlipSid3 upset NiP; go on to semis
FlipSid3 go on to the semi-finals of ESWC after causing a huge upset to NiP 2-1 (de_inferno 1-16, de_mirage 16-10, de_overpass 16-12) despite having a stand-in.
NiP started off as Counter-Terrorists on de_inferno and with a good read on the pistol round went on to pick up a couple more off of it due to Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy's mistimed bomb plant in a favorable 2-on-2 situation in the following forcebuy.
One more opening showed up for the Georgi "WorldEdit" Yaskin-less team in the first gunround, but Aleksi "allu" Jalli turned it around with four kills in a 2-on-5 to make it 5-0. More time issues on FlipSid3's part resulted in Adam "friberg" Friberg's lonesome triple on B.
The first round offered itself to FlipSid3 at 10-0 and this time around they were able to close it on the B bombsite, but NiP continued to dominate the half with allu on a rampage (24-4-5 score at halftime). FlipSid3 then couldn't turn a favorable situation in a second pistol-round win and NiP went on to close map one at 16-1.
allu tore FlipSid3 apart on de_inferno
With a Counter-Terrorist pistol round in the bag, FlipSid3 went on to get a flying 6-0 start with comfortable defences apart from a close 1-on-1 by B1ad3. A couple of A executes by the Swedes were then split evenly, although NiP were broke and the scoreline was sitting at 1-8.
NiP tried to quicken up the pace and got one round with a fast B split, but another takeover attempt was denied by Yegor "markeloff" Markelov's smoke double in a 2-on-2 for FlipSid3 to get back on the horse and take the half to a 13-2 score with B1ad3 on top of the scoreboard.
Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's triple was not enough for NiP to earn a good enough chance to come back from the deficit and it seemed like it would be over soon, but the Swedes managed to win the following forcebuy.
A bomb plant two rounds afterwards in a forcebuy helped FlipSid3 get to 11 map points just for NiP to break them again for 15-6. A miraculous 2-on-3 retake scenario worked out for the Swedish side and a good read on their part made it 10-15, but FlipSid3 managed to close it out in the next round thanks to a perfect A push.
FlipSid3 got a great start on de_overpass yet again, this time starting as Terrorists, as they stormed onto a 5-0 lead before Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's AWP quad-kill got NiP on the scoreboard.
NiP are leaving the competition with their heads down
NiP couldn't capitalize on a positional advantage afterwards and broke their economy at 1-7, but markeloff's team-kill in a 2-on-2 lost FlipSid3 the following anti-eco. The Swedish economy got broken once again as Richard "Xizt" Landström's team had to double eco. A stack on the B bombsite in the second one wrecked FlipSid3 for 3-9, and NiP managed to hold on for both remaining rounds in the half for a 6-9 scoreline.
A pistol and both anti-ecos went in favor of the mostly-Ukrainian roster, and the following quick B pushes were split evenly and NiP had to save yet again, while FlipSid3 were happy to take the 14th round to NiP's seven.
NiP then won an absolute must-win round and the following anti-eco, but allu's 4:3 resolution settings then allowed Vladyslav "bondik" Nechyporchuk to sneak past him on A long and get two kills from behind for six match points. A quick B strat yet again, coupled with a forcebuy on FlipSid3's part, helped NiP lower the deficit to three. Just a round after though FlipSid3 survived a scary 1-on-3 by friberg, started celebrating and defused in the last second.
