Na`Vi win ESWC 2015 over Cloud9

July 13th, 2015 01:25

Natus Vincere are the ESWC champions after edging Cloud9 2-1 (16-3 de_inferno, 14-16 de_dust2, 16-14 de_overpass) for the $30,000 first-place prize.

The grand final's first map was Na`Vi's de_inferno, and they started delivering from the start. A pistol round went into a won gunround as Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham was forced to save his AWP.

That helped Cloud9 get on the board at 4-1 as they took over banana quickly, but Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko's triple defending a last-second B bombsite push set them back again and Na`Vi capitalized in the following couple of gunrounds as well.

Despite a costly eco Cloud9 were unable to get more than one round until the twelfth, when Mike "shroud" Grzesiek got a triple in an unfavorable retake situation on the B bombsite for 10-2.

Nothing more came of their Terrorist side though as Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács continued to pick them off around mid, and with a second pistol round going Na`Vi's way, the ex-CIS team closed de_inferno at 16-3.

Natus Vincere are the ESWC champions

Despite winning the pistol on de_dust2 as Terrorists, Cloud9 were unable to survive Na`Vi's scout forcebuy despite a good start in the round. Na`Vi got up to 5-1 thanks to GuardiaN's agressive picks around the map before Skadoodle shut him down on long for round two on Cloud9's part.

Following six rounds were split evenly, in one of Na`Vi's rounds Denis "seized" Kostin stepped up with an ace and a 1-on-2 on the B bombsite, while Sean "seang@res" Gares won a 1-on-1 clutch on A for a 5-10 halftime score.

Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert's quad-kill pushed Na`Vi back to a two-round lead before they won the rotation game after initial picks on each side. Skadoodle's six kills in the next three rounds pushed Cloud9 to their second lead in the game at 12-11 before Natus Vincere closed a 2-on-2 out in their favor to even it out again.

Skadoodle continued defending well on the A site with another triple, forcing Na`Vi on their signature double-AK buy, which didn't work out. Egor "flamie" Vasilyev scored a quad of his own to level the score at 14-14, but Cloud9 were able to pick up both remaining rounds for map two win to take it to de_overpass.

Cloud9 were the ones to take the lead there once again, this time 5-0 with a quick B push in the first gunround and a five-man walk push from long, catching Natus Vincere off guard.

n0thing has been showing sparks of his late-1.6 form lately

Na`Vi responded with one, but n0thing's triple in another long-walk strategy broke them again for 7-1 for Cloud9 as Terrorists. After getting a good map control, Zeus and company took four in a row, two of which were due to individual play from flamie and Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev.

n0thing then won a 1-on-2 to break the five-round streak on their opponents, but GuardiaN's triple in the following round on the A bombsite broke Cloud9's economy, for a 7-8 halftime score.

Yet again n0thing with amazing play in the second pistol round was what made the difference, only for Na`Vi to reply with the following anti-eco in a A-bombsite smoke-off strategy. Two rounds were split between the teams, but flamie's quad-kill got Na`Vi their first lead in the final map as shroud continued to struggle with the entry duels.

A triple from n0thing, who put on a great show already, in Cloud9's P250 buy hurt Na`Vi's economy, and Skadoodle's triple in a 3-on-3 leveled the score again at 13-13. A last-minute A bombsite push worked out for Na`Vi, and seized's heroics in a 3-on-5 on B put them on match point.

One more highlight from n0thing on the B bombsite looked like that did it to take the game to overtime, as in the last round of relegation, Cloud9 were up 4-on-2 at one point, if it wasn't for flamie and his clutch triple to grab the title at ESWC 2015 at 16-14.

They didn't say anything after, its feasible that when they have less players playing in the later stages of the tournament that they can use the best pc's they have.
2015-07-13 01:39
From what I gathered all pc's had the same specs or were very similar. Don't remember where I heard this from

2015-07-13 01:50

well played by C9, very impressed Na'Vi look great ever since picking up flamie. They're better than TSM now and the doubters will see what I'm talking about come Cologne. NaVi top 2 now for sure
2015-07-13 01:37
Out of thin air you grasp that one team is better than another. You have absolutely no idea how good or bad TSM will be at ESL Cologne when it is the first tournament they should have had the time to prepare for as a full time pro team.
2015-07-13 12:03
Although i wouldn't put na'vi above TSM but you can't ignore their inactivity and failure at esl/esea league. Assuming na'vi perform better/beat TSM at faceit then i won't have issue saying atm na'vi is performing better but again TSM has done well for a period but hasn't been seen since for quite a while. You can't rate a team that isn't playing but also i can't rate Na'Vi over TSM just yet but after faceit we'll see i guess.
2015-07-13 16:14
Thats my exact argument, that he can't rate a team that isn't playing, but by the time ESL Cologne will be played they will or atleast should be ready. We don't know the strength of the "new" TSM and the failure at the most recent league finals was due to two players finishing school or atleast that is some of the reason behind it. Personally I would put NaVi ahead of TSM - being active, winning tournaments and they have the more recent results to back it when compared to TSM.

Why the hell would you trade a player that has been improving a lot and that's one of the reason a team keeps itself together (freak) for a player that is mostly a pugstomper? (tarik)

Very nice final. Felt disappointed for C9 though, they were quite close to take it to OT. I think they would have won it, Na'Vi seemed to run out of ideas at the end. With their third title this year Na'Vi are looking good for Cologne. Gl to both teams for the future.

It's really hard for now to make any top1-... lists, but I'll try to anyway :-) 1-2. fnatic 1-2. TSM 3-5. Na`Vi 3-5. Cloud9 3-5. Virtus.Pro 6-7. NiP 6-7. EnVyUs 8-10. dignitas 8-10. mousesports 8-10. Kinguin 11-14. HellRaisers 11-14. Flipsid3 11-14. Keyd Stars 11-14. SK Gaming 15-18. Renegades 15-18. GPlay 15-18. Gamers2 15-18. LGB 19-22. PENTA 19-22. Titan 19-22. CLG 19-22. Team Liquid We can't really know, if Flipsid3 will be as strong after kicking s1mple (nobody wants to play with such a kid in one team), I guess they're to lose a lot of firepower because of it. Since the guys, kicked from nV, won't 100% be joining Titan, I'd say Titan can even lose their place in top20, I guess Titan to disband after EnVyUs take their best players. We also can't rate the NA teams, because they had pretty few chances to play vs EU teams. Hopefully Na`Vi will improve enough to finally defeat fnatic on their way to something big. I also hope it will take less time for EnVyUs to get used to their new squad. If they're really picking kennyS, I'm really happy for him to finally have a chance to play in one of the best teams in the world. One more thing I'd like to say - it's a shame that ESWC has so low amount of prize money. It's like a World Cup, and it should have a big amount of $ to pay to its winners. Hopefully Valve will support ESWC one day. P.S. GuardiaN to NiP! [Just kidding]

Renegades > HR, F3, Keyd and SK other than that yeah pretty much
2015-07-13 14:30
Sry man, but F3 defeated NiP, while Renegades lost to nV and Na`Vi. I know, F3 won't be that strong anymore, cuz s1mple is a 20 y.o. man with a brain of 6 y.o. kid, but right after ESWC I think it was like I specified...
2015-07-13 14:35
NiP are terrible now though, it's not really much of an accomplishment. Also F3 would have lost to nV if they played them, and they did thrashed by Na'Vi (even more so than renegades). Either way that's chain logic which is not accurate. The only hard info to go off is the fact that Renegades have played against F3 once and they won 16-2, although that was without s1mple, I still think that Renegades would have won if he was playing anyway. So imo Renegades > F3
