EnVyUs to semi-finals over Na`Vi
EnVyUs have booked the first spot in the ESL One Cologne semi-finals after seeing off Natus Vincere 2-0 (16-13 on de_inferno and 16-10 on de_mirage).
The first map of the series, de_inferno, began with Denis "seized" Kostin going huge in the B site, taking down three opponents before his team-mates completed the job. Na`Vi followed that up with two anti-ecos, but then the first gun round went to the Frenchmen following a fast entry in the B site that caught the two defenders off-guard.
Na`Vi went aggressive in the following round in the banana area, with seized picking up four kills as his team restored a three-round lead. A series of errors on the part of both teams saw them trade the next couple of rounds as the game continued to be played at a high pace.
With neither side being able to stamp their authority, raw talent made the difference: a double AWP kill from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács at 5-4 left EnVyUs frustrated in a B push, and in the following round Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer won a 1-vs-2 clutch through smokes thanks to the tracer. Rounds kept going back and forth, with Na`Vi taking a narrow 8-7 lead to the break.
A triple kill from Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko in the pistol round as Terrorist saw Na`Vi further enlarge their lead. The CIS team would add three more rounds to their tally, bringing the scoreline to 13-7, but then EnVyUs finally woke up and started stringing some rounds together. With the scoreline 13-12, Na`Vi called a timeout in an attempt to slow the pace of the game, but there was no stopping the EnVyUs train.
EnVyUs are the first team through to the last-four stage
Na`Vi knew that it would be very hard for them to turn this around as the decider map of the series was de_dust2, a map they do not feel very comfortable on. Still, that did not keep them from trying.
A flying start from Na`Vi saw them take eight of the first nine rounds, but then EnVyUs finally put their foot down to hold back their opponents and eventually reduced the deficit to 7-8.
Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey's triple in the pistol round as Terrorist allowed EnVyUs to draw level, and the Frenchmen remained in the driving seat, conceding just two rounds before sealing a fantastic 16-10 win.
