EnVyUs win Gfinity Champions

MIRAA
September 27th, 2015 18:00

EnVyUs have been crowned the Gfinity Champion of Champions after defeating fnatic 3-2 (16-12 on de_cobblestone, 16-6 on de_mirage, 12-16 on de_train, 13-16 on de_inferno and 16-9 on de_cache).

The action kicked off on de_cobblestone, where fnatic, who began on the CT side of the map, picked up the opening pistol round. The Swedes were, however, unable to capitalise on that as a Tec9 push saw EnVyUs equalise the score. In gun play, the rounds that fnatic managed to get were few and far between, which allowed EnVyUs to control the economy and take an 11-4 lead to the break.
The second half began with fnatic winning the pistol round and the following anti-ecos, but the Swedish team fell part when it was time for EnVyUs to buy. The Frenchmen would take the scoreline to 14-7, but then fnatic responded by stringing a few rounds together, one of which thanks to a sensational four-kill by Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer in B.
With the scoreline 14-11 in favour of EnVyUs, the French team called a timeout, and the move paid off as they ended fnatic's streak thanks to Fiveseven ace by Kenny "kennyS" Schrub. The following round would go fnatic's way, but then EnVyUs stalled the Swedes just enough for time to run out, sealing a 16-12 victory.
The map that followed was de_mirage, where after an initial period that was highly contested, EnVyUs took control of the game, ending the first half up 10-5. fnatic kept themselves alive in the game by winning the following pistol round, but then they collapsed during an anti-eco round, giving the Frenchmen the chance to claim a 16-6 victory and take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Next up was de_train, where fnatic opened up the game with an outstanding CT half, leading 12-3 by halftime. EnVyUs picked themselves up in the second half and closed the gap on their opponents, but they fell short in the dying stages, losing the game 12-16.

EnVyUs are the Gfinity Champion of Champions

The fourth map was de_inferno, where a strong start from EnVyUs saw them take a 10-5 lead at the break after playing on the CT side. Many believed that this was the Frenchmen's game to lose, but fnatic gave an impressive account of themselves in the second half to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and tie up the series 2-2.

It all came down to de_cache, the final map of this exciting series. The first half was played at a very high pace as teams literally traded round for round, with EnVyUs holding on to an 8-7 lead. The Frenchmen grew the lead by winning the pistol round, but then they were dealt a huge blow as a full buy from fnatic paid off. Still, fnatic were unable to build on this round win as they were caught off-guard by a Tec9 rush from EnVyUs, who would go on to win seven of the next eight rounds en route to a 16-9 finish.

For all the cheating threads made about flusha and fnatic I expected them to win this LAN with ease. How could all the gold novas on HLTV possibly be wrong? Kappa

You had to achieve "something" in the past, right? That "just showing" up cost a lot of efforts in the past, so nothing easy.

The odds were crazy, I hope people start to realize that fnatic is not the clear top1 team anymore. All tier 1 teams can beat each other depending on how they feel on that exact day, it's much more exciting to watch and hard to predict now.
2015-09-27 18:10
Looks like you thing fans bet to earn money. Lol. Ofc not. Most of fans in important matches bet against teams they cheer. Why? To be in win win scenario. This is why VP and NIP have so big odds and fnatic so low odds. I "lost" that way ~4000. In reality people know fnatic can only win esl or dh in europe only and when cheating and other teams are in slump. The top3 is now: 1 vp 2 nv 3 tsm

I never bet on CS. I'm taking about the odds to show how peope are clueless, according to them fnatic was a massive favorite, it's obvious that matches between fnatic, EnVy, VP and TSM, there aren't a massive favorites in any matchup.
2015-09-27 18:47
You dont understand odds dont mean who is a favorite. Odds mean who has more fans! Most of fans bet with emotions so they bet on enemy of their team, not with a brain to earn money. At least this is a case for important matches.
2015-09-27 18:50
Arguably the most retarded comment on HLTV to date.

well looks like they are dropping, lost to cloud 9 2-0 before cologne, almost lost to vp at cologne 2-0, lost to vp at esl dubai and now they went 3-2 against nip and lost against nv
2015-09-27 18:54
You can't lose 2-0. Not possible. If you have 2, and they have 0, then you win, they lose. Get your facts straight.

EnvyUS is a solid team yes, but you can't say its the best team of all time, since fnatic has more tournament wins this year, and the next major we will see which team is truly the best.
2015-09-27 18:45

Two teams suppose to be better than Fnatic - TSM , Envyus !!!! I never believed Fnatic was the best ... French guys have super talents! They should be able to destroy Fnatic every single time . But they choke instead !! TSM should be the most balanced team!! CsGo should be the ralry between TSM and Envyus ! VP , Fnatic should belong to the 2nd tiers that could challenge the top 2 teams

can't help the feeling that envy would be even better if they stopped playing like a pub team. happy is playing everytime like hes on dm server lol. that's why sometimes he destroys enemy team completely, but sometimes fucks up so bad, like today on inferno on B site when spraying with mp7 through smoke without a reason. probably costed them a map.
