Na`Vi take down CLG, advance
Na`Vi are the final team to make the Top Eight at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca after defeating CLG 2-1 in the decider match (16-9 on de_train, 12-16 on de_cbble, and 16-8 on de_inferno).
The final decider match put together two frequent group stage rivals (at least in 2015): Na`Vi and CLG.
With CLG chosing the first map, de_train, it was their opponent Na`Vi who exploded into the game, taking the first pistol round and first gun round, up until the score stood at 5-0.
CLG switched into a series of precise executes, which helped the Canadian-Americans pick up five rounds to equalise the score. However, Na`Vi readjusted their mid-game and a crucial B-site defense by Denis "seized" Kostin helped the Ukrainian-Russian-Slovak team end the half 9-6 up.
Na`Vi shut down de_train
The second half saw Na`Vi keep their foot on the gas pedal, taking the T-side pistol and only allowing CLG to pick up one round until the game stood at match-point. CLG rallied with two more rounds but it was to no effect as Na`Vi ultimately took the map 16-9.
de_cbble was the second map, and a map of close contention for these two teams as previous meetings had gone Na`Vi's way with 16-14 and 16-12 scorelines. CLG took a clean CT pistol round only to be eco'd by a Na`Vi in the next round and allow the latter team to gain a foothold on the first half.
There were a number of rounds that came down to versus engagements and awkward duels, proving that both teams were evenly matched on cbble as had been previously suggested. However, Na`Vi had a slight edge and Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko and his men finished the half up 8-7.
Cutler led his team to success on de_cbble
CLG took another clean pistol, only to be once again eco'd thanks to Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács's Deagle and Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev's Five-Seven. However, CLG showed a rare bit of resilience and counter-eco'd Na`Vi to equalise the game.
Despite a tactical pause from Na`Vi, CLG continued to hold the momentum in the game from that point forward, moving all the way 15-10, when, in a truly bizarre one-versus-one, Zeus died while walking through a Molotov with 100HP, a move which gave CLG the map at 16-10.
de_inferno seemed to be a straight forward affair at first, with Na`Vi shutting down Pujan "FNS" Mehta and co. on the CT half, going up 13-2 by half's end. However, after losing the pistol round, CLG force-bought against Na`Vi and won, and began a comeback.
After Josh "jdm64" Marzano won an unlikely one-versus-two, Na`Vi called a pause which finally gave the team the wind in its sails to close out the map, which they ultimately won 16-8.
