Teams set for FACEIT Stage 3 Finals

Following today's finish of the European group of FACEIT League Stage 3, all eight teams are set for the finals hosted by DreamHack Open Winter from November 26-28.

One of the spots at the finals has been determined for nearly a month due to the difference in format over in Oceania. There, Animal Squad, now representing Legacy eSports, surprised both Immunity and Renegades as they came out on top of a four-way tie.

Another couple of spots were snatched three days ago in North America, where Luminosity came out on top of the group, only losing a single map throughout the league.

Liquid securing a place due to head-to-head adds to their rivalry with Cloud9

The second North American spot went Liquid's way, who were in a tie with Cloud9, but defeated their rivals in both of their matches and thus deserved the spot in Jönköping at the end of the month.

Group Europe was quite wide open until the very last moments, both NiP and Virtus.pro won the majority of their matches in the last three days, which secured them a spot alongside TSM and EnVyUs. fnatic were another team to make it thanks to a head-to-head ruling, in this case over G2.

With that, the full list of teams for FACEIT League Stage 3 Finals at DreamHack Open Winter is:

Australia Legacy eSports  Brazil Luminosity
United States Liquid Poland Virtus.pro
France EnVyUs Denmark TSM
Sweden NiP Sweden fnatic

Head over to the league's coverage page if you'd like to see how the groups panned out before the teams head to the $250,000 finals at DreamHack Open Winter in Jönköping on November 26-28.

I don't get why they even count RD if it doesn't matter in theory. Then it's just a useless stat. But yeah, I would still rather see fnatic than G2 at the lan. However I could've been without NiP easily. Sad for G2, would've been a good chance to show the new teams muscles.

If each team won a map then Rd would apply

I still think it would be RD > h2h, as RD says more about your performance throughout the whole league. But yeah, [*] G2

If you have the same points as another team it's only fair to count h2h first. "Same points, different results throughout the group, but we lost twice to that team, they deserve it"
2015-11-16 01:51

so what about VP losing 6 games in last 2 weeks to G2? they deserve it?
2015-11-16 02:05
1 reply
Yep they 100% do considering they won more games than them. It is like g2 fans are new to the game. Pretty much everything has always been overall record>h2h>RD. I'm pretty tired of g2 fanboys acting like they are somehow anywhere near VP or top 4 because of a few h2h wins already.
2015-11-16 02:58
but in csgo, it's not uncommon to have maps where a team will win more than 16-5 due to how the game works. And in many cases, this isn't an accurate showing of a team's performance.

RD can be misleading on heavily sided ct maps. Win half 12-3, win pistol and it's over. That's why it comes after h2h

+1 FACEIT schedule was fucked up this time, even for EU since VP had to play all their games when everyone else had already been playing theirs. Which for VP was a clear advantage against the others.

Shame that Oceania only had a one-stage round robin unlike the other groups that had two. Oce had a group the same size as NA so I don't see why that wouldn't have worked? Also, unlike NA, Oce completed their group in like less than a week; what's a few more days?
2015-11-16 05:24
