DH Malmö NA qualifier invites out

Invites for the North American closed qualifier for DreamHack Masters Malmö have just been revealed by DreamHack.

Half of the closed qualifier teams have just been revealed, as arguably the eight best teams playing in the North American region have received invites.

Understandably teams such as Cloud9, Liquid, CLG and OpTic are amongst the invitees, joined by Renegades, Enemy and SPLYCE.

SPUNJ's Renegades receive an invite for the closed qualifier

The last spot went to Tempo Storm, who have found quite a lot of success in the region in the last few weeks, as they came out on top of the IEM Katowice qualifier, as well as RGN Winter Classic II.

The team list is following:

United States Cloud9 United States CLG
United States Liquid Canada OpTic
Brazil Tempo Storm  Australia Renegades
United States Enemy United States Splyce

A total of 16 teams will battle in the closed qualifier, which will have three DreamHack Masters Malmö spots on offer, with the other eight coming from the open qualifier. The open qualifier will take place tomorrow, on February 20th, followed up by the closed qualifier the day after.

Does anyone know what the format is like, because it must be with a lot of bo1's since this is a 2 day tournament. Looking forward to it.
2016-02-19 14:26
Open Qualifier on Saturday is BO1 single-elimination and the Closed Qualifier on Sunday is BO3 single-elimination.

I meant at the actual event itself and not the qualifier :p

DreamHack Masters Malmö is 12-17th of April, 16-17th in Malmö Arena open to the public. Detailed schedule will come soon.
2016-02-19 14:37
Oh really that's interesting I thought it was just from 16-17th. I am attending it so I curious what the format would actually look like.
2016-02-19 14:38
All matches in the arena will be BO3, I can say that much :)

2016-02-19 14:42
Dont 3 teams from this qualifier go to the tourney?
2016-02-19 15:38
Didn't catch that. TS should qualify regardless if FalleN is coaching or not. CLG and OpTic are contenders, though.
2016-02-19 17:22
TS coach/IGL is Peacemaker... If you understand a little bit of portuguese you can watch the Periscope that TS do when they are playing and you will see that Fallen is only there for motivation. Motivation/cheering is completely different of coaching. ;)

RNG Upset? maybe c9 or liquid could upset rng and go. 1st RNG 2nd TS 3rd Liquid
2016-02-19 22:53
youre a fanboy, rng isnt even top20 world and their performance in NA previously wasnt winning tournaments, one 0-2 final loss and one out in groups. they were also knocked out of cluj qualifiers by NA the performance against CLG was good but everyone is destroying CLG rn, theyve looked awful ever since return from game show

Actually not a fanboy, more of a realist. To not have rng in a top20 list is just dumb. Ill be sure to reply to one of your future posts in a couple of months to remind you of the time you dribbled absolute garbage here.
