FlipSid3 advance to the winners' match of group A after surviving the first best-of-one versus Selfless at the Columbus main qualifier 16-13 on de_inferno.
As the competition in Columbus moved on to group A's initial round, FlipSid3 were set on a collision course with Selfless on de_inferno, with the latter starting as Terrorists.
There the teams began by taking the first three rounds back and forth in forcebuys with Michael "Uber" Stapells's team coming out ahead for 4-1. Exchanging the next two rounds meant FlipSid3 had to go on an eco, but a saved gun on Vladyslav "bondik" Nechyporchuk set him up for three triples in a row for their first lead in the game at 6-5.
Despite the rough start at the beginning FlipSid3 retook control and won all rounds except for one where Selfless came out on top of a 2-on-3.
bondik's three triples in a row shifted momentum
Selfless equalized the score after a triple-kill by Michael "MAiNLiNE" Jaber in banana in the second pistol round, but a powerful A take ended up with Kenneth "koosta" Suen saving a weapon. Only a mistake by FlipSid3 cost them a round against a forcebuy in the following six rounds, as they powered to a 14-10 scoreline.
A couple of exchanged rounds saw FlipSid3 reaching match point, while Selfless had to go on a poor forcebuy. Somehow they made it work in a retake on the B bombsite, but we didn't see another overtime due to FlipSid3 closing the map out at 16-13.
