Luminosity & NiP with wins

Two more matches have been played in Katowice as Luminosity beat fnatic 16-12 on de_inferno and NiP got their first win against TheMongolz.

Both Luminosity and fnatic won against Natus Vincere in their opening matches and the battleground for this one was de_inferno. The Brazilians' CT-side pistol round victory was spoiled by a vintage fnatic force-buy to start things off. Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer & co. earned the subsequent two rounds, followed by two rounds of Luminosity to tie it at 3-3.

Their streak was stopped at five as fnatic grabbed a round but Luminosity answered right back. After Fernando "fer" Alvarenga's quad-kill to bring it to 7-4, olofmeister's triple kill got his team their fifth round. At halftime, the Brazilian team led 9-6.

fer keeps on impressing

Dennis "dennis" Edman's triple-kill paved the way for the pistol round win and after that, fnatic reached to nine rounds, tying the game. fer's awesome showing continued with a 1v2 clutch quad-kill prevented fnatic from running away with it.

After a tactical timeout by fnatic, dennis showed up once again with a triple spraydown to cut the deficit to two (11-13). Epitacio "TACO" de Melo's 1v2 clutch gave his team three match points and they finished it off 16-12.

The other match brought NiP and TheMongolz together on de_mirage. Both the Swedes and the Mongols fell to mousesports in their first matches. Despite losing the pistol round on the T-side, NiP exerted their dominance and initiated a huge streak.

Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg came on top of a 1v1 clutch, getting his team's tenth round in a row. The Swedish team finished the half 13-2 ahead and won it all 16-5. f0rest's 22-10 K-D in this matchup was a good sign for the ninjas.

If I'm being completely honest I didn't expect NIP to win. LG vs. Fnatic was pretty obvious, LG had the time to study Fnatic, same with Na'Vi.

2016-03-02 16:15
Implying they'd do that.
2016-03-02 16:16
Why not? JW said in his stream that in his opinion LG is top 2, why'd they not study the 2nd team? If they were from Denmark, Sweden, or anywhere else they'd study them wouldn't you think that? It's obvious that you think just because they're from Brazil they're not worthy.
2016-03-02 16:54
Why would you take offence? The point is that this new Fnatic team doesn't do a lot tactically. They won't change 'till they lose, LG on the other hand work a lot harder.

Oh, Mongolz lost to NiP
2016-03-02 16:33
lol bait in hell
2016-03-02 16:34
Haha indeed but, face it, NiP is not the team they were 2 years ago. The fact that they refuse to kick Friberg who constantly underperforms, the fact that pyth is not pulling his weight, and the fact that they do not have a dedicated awper and forest fills the role (meaning that they cannot compete with the dedicated awps of any top team and they are consistently missing out on forest's rifling skills) means that NiP is unlikely to return to tier 1 any time soon. It's a shame.
2016-03-02 16:41
Pyth has shown he's got crazy skill in the past, I don't think anyone could have predicted such a shaky start though I thought it would be hard. NiP would be stupid not to give him some more time and see if he fits into a role better. As for friberg, I have to agree.. He's had too long a time underperforming. I would have dropped him already.
2016-03-02 16:51
Yeah NiP could get back in shape if they replace Friberg with a dedicated awper and pyth really steps it up but, even then, I do not think they would have enough firepower to challenge other top teams like fnatic, LG, Na'Vi, EnvyUs (and, depending on their shape, VP on LAN and Astralis).

round difference. It's like average in soccer etc. Rounds win minus rounds lost equals round differential. The team with the more RD advances.
