HellRaisers & more to CPH Games*

Copenhagen Games have revealed four more invited teams to their 2016 edition of the tournament where the Nordic event will feature €30,000 in cash prizes.

This year in Copenhagen, the Øksnehallen exhibition centre will host a sixteen team event from the 23rd to the 26th of March as the eight invited squads will go up against the eight qualified to take home the first place prize of €17,000.

The qualifiers will be held on-site and is open up to 64 teams. Eight teams from this qualifier will go onto one of the four groups. The group stage will have a GSL format and the games will be played as a best-of-one.

HellRaisers are among the invited teams

The top two lineups from each group will advance to the single elimination playoffs where in order to advance, the teams will have to top their opponents in a best-of-three series.

Recently announced teams include HellRaisers—who have struggled lately and weren't able to qualify for the major as they lost to Liquid—, RCTIC, ALTERNATE aTTaX, and CPH Wolves are the other teams that have received invites.

Update: Originally, YP were supposed to be in the tournament but due to visa issues RCTIC have replaced them.

Below is the complete invited teams list for Copenhagen Games 2016:

Denmark Dignitas Denmark SK Finland ENCE  Bulgaria E-frag.net
Germany ALTERNATE aTTaX  Europe HellRaisers  Finland RCTIC Denmark CPH Wolves

The prize distribution will be as follows:

1. - €17,000 + hardware
2. - €8,000
3. - €3,500
4. - €1,500

2016-03-16 17:32

I seriously hope ENCE goes far, their results have been so bad compared to expectations :( Yes I know its 3 months old team but still...
2016-03-16 13:35
There is a limit to how much allu (and partly sunny) can carry ;)

Denmark b0ychild
stonde and juho is way better, sunny is the worst on the team with xarte
2016-03-16 15:29
Not sure about Juho but stonde is a god when hes hitting his shots
2016-03-16 16:26
If he hits... Don't remember what game but I watched stonde get 1 or 2 awp kills during a whole game, refusing allu to awp which rekt with it anytime stonde died.
2016-03-17 16:35
Actually allu is the one who said that he doesnt want to be the main awper
2016-03-17 22:58
The results weren't bad. It's your expectations that were unrealistic, because you're Finnish.
2016-03-16 14:41
Uhm? Look at their LAN stats. I dont give a shit about random online games.
2016-03-16 14:44
Aint been that bad has it? They are in the lead at ESEA Premier over teams like PENTA, E-Frag and HellRaisers. Got top 8 at CEVO Pro League and a second place at Assembly (where LDLC played very good all event). Sure they have had their ups and downs as any new team would but imo they've done at least what I expect from them this far. Which is to be a top T2 team and ranked in the top 30 in the world. Eventually I still think they will reach a major but they need some more time.

So sad to see the once great CPHG being reduced to this. Only two years ago this was a tier1 tournament
2016-03-16 15:05
True that. Would like to see such huge tournament but also with tier1-2 teams.
2016-03-16 16:34
Yeah true, but 2 years ago Gaben didn't open his wallet and make $1 million tournaments. And it was just pretty much just the majors that had the $250k prize pool tournaments back then as well, wheres today when a lot more has it. And it's understandable that not every company and organizer can have such a high prize pool. So I think they made the best of it, and that it's actually pretty awesome that it's done this way. Ofc they probably would've wanted more tier1 teams to attend, but this gives the teams that just barely missed the major another tournament to attend instead, pretty much as a "consolation prize" kind of tournament where they still can prove themselves and fight against other good teams.
2016-03-16 16:44
I know. The big companies like esl and dreamhack out compete the smaller business.
