Gambit knock out EnVyUs
Gambit eliminated the defending champions EnVyUs after beating them 16-13 on de_cache as Jan 'waylander' Rahkonen starred.
Envy and Gambit met on de_cache in the third elimination match in Columbus after they lost their opening matches on day one. Gambit's loss against Astralis was expected, unlike Envy' defeat against CLG which put the defending Major champions on the verge of being eliminated in the group stage.
Jan "wayLander" Rahkonen pushed middle in the pistol round and got three kills to put his CT-sided team 1-0 ahead. Gambit won the anti-eco and Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov clutched a 1v1 against Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer in the first buy round as they made it 4-0. Envy picked off their opponents one by one to get their first round to make it 5-1.
wayLander picked up one crucial kill after another
Envy took charge after getting their first round, tying it 5-5 but the Frenchmen were stopped on the A-site and Gambit once again took the lead (6-5). Happy & company won the half 9-6 as Gambit struggled to put together proper buys at the end of the half.
With Dosia and Rustem "mou" Telepov's entry-frags, Gambit were victorious in the pistol round and tied it at 9-9 after winning the anti-ecos. wayLander got three kills in the first weapon round of the second half to put his team ahead 10-9. wayLander's dominance continued as he got four kills in the 21st round and got two opening kills in the following round.
wayLander could not be stopped and kept getting entry kills as Gambit reached the match point(15-9). Envy made a mixed-buy work and got their 10th round but Gambit closed it out 16-13 and completed one of the biggest upsets in CS:GO history.
