DH Tours to host European Minor

Shortly after ESL revealed that the major circuit would come back to ESL One Cologne in the Lanxess Arena, DreamHack have revealed details for the European Minor Championship, which will be held as part of DreamHack Tours.

DreamHack Tours will have $50,000 on offer, the same amount for all four Minors, and will take place from May 14-16, nearly two months prior to the Cologne Major.

This time top two teams will receive spots at the major's main qualifier, as opposed to just one previously, who was, in Europe's case, HellRaisers after defeating E-frag.net in the PGL Minor's grand final.

HellRaisers came out on top of the last European Minor, then hosted by PGL in their studios

A total of eight teams will take part in the tournament, all of which will be decided via qualifiers. Those will once again be comprised of an open stage, as well as a closed stage, which will feature invited teams alongside top contenders of the previous open qualifier.

The qualifiers will be played on the following weekends:

  • April 23-24: Qualifier #1
  • April 30-May 1: Qualifier #2

They know me as the headshot machine. They know me from the highlight they see. They know me from the matches they watch. They talk about my one taps and they think for me aiming is so easy. I just go into a match and that's it. But my aim, it's comes from more than just a game. For me - aim - it is about precision... This part people don't see. This part, it does not show up in highlights. When I sit down to play everything already is a part of me...

ESL Pro league is from 12th to 15th may, same weekend wtf
2016-04-08 22:43
The only team potentially affected by that would be dignitas, who can still qualify for EPL LAN and aren't a Legend/Challenger

So, we'll not be seeing the best teams in Tours ;( Except the team which are not qualified for the EPL
2016-04-08 22:49
You already won't be seeing the best teams in Tours, because all the best teams are already qualified to Cologne or the Offline Qualifier.

Not a french tournaments... they always fail and have been doing so since the start of CS 1.6! They cant host events without tecnical failure and/or stupid management. GGWP FRENCH TOUR!
2016-04-08 22:49
I don't know what you are basing this on. ESWC in Paris hosted some of the most successful events back in the days, ESWC 2007 is still one of my all time favorite events. The European Minor at DreamHack Tours is operated by same group of people behind DreamHack ZOWIE Open and DreamHack Masters.
2016-04-08 23:07
last dh tours was correct, i don't remember it to be bad or anything, the eswc hosted at PGW on the other hand were bad.
2016-04-08 23:38
The last year ESWC wasnt at Paris, but at Montreal ;) Every french tournament was epic. Just take for exemple the LoL world championship in france, it was the best part of the worlds (the audience is one of the best in the world)

This can motivate some french teams to do well in a minor because last minor LDLC's performance was disappoint imo.
2016-04-08 23:04
IMO at least the winner or finalists of the previous minor should have autoinvite to the minor

They know me as the baguette machine. They know me from the drama they see. They know me from the white flag they watch. They talk about my baguette and they think for me surrender is so easy. I just go into a french team and that's it. But surrender, it comes from more than just a white flag. For me - crying - it is about precision... This part people don't see. This part, it does not show up in reddit. When I go play like a bot everything already is a part of me.

So you have to qualify for the qualifier to the qualifier of the major
2016-04-09 02:14
They dont want 100 diff teams at the final qualifier. This picks out the best teams for the final qualifier.
