Tempo Storm survive nV comeback
Tempo Storm narrowly triumph in their Group D game against EnVyUs with a score of 16-14 on Cobblestone at DreamHack Masters Malmö.
Early indications decided in favour of the Brazilians as, following a clever CT-side push by NV on their pistol, it was Henrique "HEN1" Teles who pulled off four Glock headshots to win the pistolround for Tempo Storm.
Following the subsequent rounds going Tempo's way, including the first gunround which saw an aggressive take force the Frenchmen to save early, it was Kenny "kennyS" Schrub who won a one-versus-two for his team to put the Boys in Blue on the board.
Tempo Storm continue to defeat EnVyUs in offline games
However, ongoing confidence by the young Brazilian team, including a one-versus-one by Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles in the next round, continued to propel Tempo Storm forward on their T-side as they broke nV's economy and moved ahead to a 7-1 scoreline.
The following round was one of a flawless defense from Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer and his men as they took down all five Tempo players without losing a man, but Tempo Storm, led by HEN1 and João "felps" Vasconcellos continued to apply pressure correctly (especially in the drop area) and moved ahead to a dominant 11-2 score before nV were able to win another round, this time with a B defensive hold. Tempo Storm finished the half up 12-3.
nV seemed determined not to continue a streak of humiliating defeats in offline games lately as the team were re-energised on their T-side and picked up a clean second pistolround, losing only Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt in the process.
The old nV of yore seemed on display for a few rounds into the second half, as the team moved ahead to a 7-12 deficit before Tempo Storm turned up their defensive efforts and picked up two rounds of their own. With a match point appearing certain, EnVyUs somehow made a pistol buy and B-site take work and advanced to a 9-14 score after winning TS' pistol save afterwards. After nV won another gunround, the Brazilian team felt the need to call a tactical pause.
The tactical pause was to no avail however as rounds continued to go the French team's away, including a one-versus-one won by kennyS. With the score at 14-14, the Brazilian team finally experienced some reinvigoration as HEN1 and Gustavo "SHOOWTiME" Gonçalves cleaned out an A rush by EnVyUs. In the final round, another well-orchestrated B hold by Tempo gave them the round needed to win the map 16-14.
Day two of DreamHack Masters Malmö kicks off tomorrow with a Group A elimination match between Liquid and TYLOO at 11:00. All four of the elimination matches will be played first before the winners matches tomorrow.
