LDLC White & Blue fold
The LDLC organisation have announced that they have dropped support for both their White and Blue rosters after fielding both teams for approximately a year.
The LDLC brand name stands out to many as being the organisation which supported a team featuring the likes of Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer and Richard "shox" Papillon in 2014 (and slightly into 2015 at MLG X Games Aspen); the team masquerading under this name won the DreamHack Winter 2014 Major and numerous other events and was considered an elite contender.
Following the loss of this team to EnVyUs, LDLC decided to sign two separate Francophone teams—Platinium and Awsomniac—that went under the names of LDLC White and LDLC Blue respectively.
LDLC have dropped support for both their teams
Both teams had their moments in the sun in the following months, with LDLC White winning ESWC France and attending ESWC 2015 (where the team bombed out in groups) and LDLC Blue defeating their brethren at the ESWC PGW Open later in the year.
2016 was a mixed bag for both teams in terms of offline showings: LDLC White were wiped out at the PGL Minor (7-8th place) and Acer Predator Masters Season 2 finals (7-8th place).
However, LDLC White did manage to win Assembly Winter 2016 (and LDLC Blue survived groups and finished in 3-4th place) and the latter team also finished in second place at the regional Gamers Assembly 2016 event behind Millenium.
Following this mixed series of results, and the equally damaging fact that two of the LDLC White players were poached by the two biggest teams in the region recently (Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon by Envy and Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro by G2), the LDLC organisation have now announced that their support for the teams is effectively over.
The manager of LDLC Blue, Grégory "Geekory" Caboche, released a statement for the occasion:
"13 months… It’s not with sadness that I write this message, quite the opposite! The adventure should end one day, this was bound to happen, just a matter of time. This journey in Team-LDLC ends today. In the name of the whole team, I would like to thank the staff for the trust they put in us, but also their patience, as some moments were delicate and complicated. Thank you Stephan, Anthony, MoMaN, but also the people who operate behind the scene: Mimmou, Jothy, Pata, Valère, and of course the BEST…. KaO. What Team-LDLC gave us is priceless. The chance to stand alongside this structure was a rewarding experience.
"And I would like to thank the people who supported us in the difficult times. Thanks to the players for these beautiful moments. I will never forget the first international event in Finland and our victory at ESWC.
"And don’t worry, despite the very advanced age of HEdm (Dewid), none of the players have decided to take a retirement. I wish them good luck with their new companion. And as said by the great Geekory (a great guy I've heard), every road leads to Tours!"
The statement does seem to imply that the players will remain in action (at least LDLC Blue), although it is unclear how the core of the teams will stick together at the time of publication.
LDLC White's last seen lineup was:
Simon "Fuks" Florysiak
Antoine "to1nou" Pirard
Matthieu "matHEND" Roquigny
LDLC Blue's lineup was:
Guillaume "XpG" Veron
Younes "YOUYOU" Ait Lalla
Charbel "BouLy" Naoum
Julien "PetitSkel" Marcantoni
David "Dewid" Thalien
