NiP send Astralis packing

Ninjas in Pyjamas have progressed to the knockout stages of DreamHack Masters Malmö after edging past Astralis 2-1 (16-5 on Cache, 9-16 on Inferno and 16-12 on Train).

The third match of the day brought together an all-Scandinavian clash as Astralis, who had looked way off the pace against dignitas the day before, battled to preserve their survival in Malmö against Ninjas in Pyjamas.

The series kicked off on Cache, where Astralis, who began on the CT side, came out the brighter of the two teams and picked up a 2-0 lead. The Danish team were then punished for playing too aggressively, allowing NiP to get their first round on the board. That win sparked a massive run from the Swedish lineup as they gave up just two more rounds before the end of the half to sit on a commanding 11-4 lead before the teams switched sides.

NiP piled more misery on their opponents and further grew their lead by taking the first two rounds of the second half. Armed with Desert Eagles and Tec9s, Astralis were able to get their fifth round of the game, but NiP were not going to let their opponents go any further and bagged the next three rounds en route to a 16-5 finish.

NiP survived the Scandinavian derby

Inferno followed the same pattern as the first map, with NiP hitting back with a buy in the third round after losing the opening two rounds. Nicolai "device" Reedtz, who had missed some easy shots during the first gun rounds, stepped up to the plate and became more confident as the game wore on, powering Astralis to turn a 2-5 deficit into a 10-5 advantage.

The Swedish team came from the break determined to turn the game around and won the pistol round with an A retake thanks to a massive blunder from Finn "karrigan" Andersen, who failed to get a single kill during a flank attempt. NiP continued racking up rounds and eventually reduced the gap to 9-10, but then a quad kill from Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen during a mid-B split gave Astralis their first round on the Terrorist side. The Danes kept pressing forward and eventually got their 16th round on the board to take the series to a third map.

Astralis go home early

The decider map was Train, where NiP got off to a great start as they enjoyed a five-round lead on two occasions. However, Astralis were simply dominant during the final stages of the half and took a narrow 8-7 lead before switching to the Terrorist side.

The Danish team enlarged that lead by picking up the first two rounds in the second half, but then NiP were simply far too hot to handle, winning nine of the next 11 rounds to seal a 16-12 victory and an overall 2-1 success.

one good map in a bo3 doesn't mean he is 'good'
2016-04-14 21:49
No one has said "good" except you though. He said he played well this game.
2016-04-14 21:56
Definition of well: in a good or satisfactory way. Therefore he implied that pyth played good.
2016-04-14 22:01
Exactly, he played well this game, he commented this thread for this game.. He didnt say "pyth is good" like u trying to make it sound like.
2016-04-14 22:04
I can tell English isn't your strongest subject. in a good or satisfactory way. in a good or satisfactory way. in a good or satisfactory way. in a good or satisfactory way. He IMPLIED that pyth played good. Just in case you come out with another stupid comment definition of implied: suggested but not directly expressed
2016-04-14 22:09
A bad player can still play good.
2016-04-14 22:14
I never said that a bad player cannot play good, read #205 I said one good map does not make a bad player good.
2016-04-14 22:16
If one say "glad to see pyth playing well" it kinda means that he hasnt played well before, but he did well this game. He didnt say anywhere that he thinks pyth is a good player.
2016-04-14 22:22
You just went full retard... n1 incest product
2016-04-14 23:37
Hilarious and original.
2016-04-15 08:52
playing well and well are two different phrases and u cant separate well from playing in the first case (im not going to react to your replies though sorry [for party rocking] cuz i have seen enough of your shizza)
2016-04-15 13:44
made no sense but OK
2016-04-15 15:21
Just wow..
2016-04-15 00:03
lol...so delusional.
2016-04-15 09:06
So you are saying 1 map where the player performed decently makes him a good player?
2016-04-15 09:08
He didn't say that. He said that pyth played well this game. He didn't say he is a good player. Like the guy above said, a bad player can also play well sometimes. Just like this case. Please stop making a fool out of yourself.
2016-04-15 09:10
I pointed out that he only played well for one map in this whole bo3, which and that guy implied that he played well throughout the bo3. When in reality he only had one good map which didn't make up for his awful performance in the previous 2 maps.
2016-04-15 09:13
That's exactly the point. He played bad on the first two maps but played well in the final map. Hence the comment "glad to see pyth playing well". It just means that it's good to see a guy who wasn't very good in the previous maps play good for once.
2016-04-15 09:16
But he implied that he played well in the entire bo3.
2016-04-15 09:17
Ok. I give up.

Yeah it is really impressive. Sure he has some bad games but man the guy can still play on the highest of levels.
2016-04-14 22:12
yeah its insane
2016-04-14 22:26
Yeah. My respect for f0rest just increases every day. That guy is truly a legendary CS player. He may not be the beast he was in 1.6 but even now he is a player to be taken seriously. He just amazes me every time.

They are usually extremely consistent in groups
2016-04-14 22:44
Exactly. They are like very good till the semis. I don't understand what happens in the semis. Perhaps the Danish god of asphyxiation intervenes.
2016-04-15 09:36
They went out in groups in EEPL S1. Lost to LG and fnatic in 2 Bo1

In this world of crazy upsets, f0rest and GTR carrying nip to a win over astralis just like old times makes the world make just a little more sense again.
