Na`Vi skip CEVO Gfinity S9 Finals

Natus Vincere decided to pull out of CEVO Gfinity Season 9 Finals to prepare for other tournaments and allow more time for Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács to recover.

Just before DreamHack Masters Malmö, Natus Vincere received a direct invite to CEVO Gfinity Season 9 Finals, which is set to take place in London, United Kingdom, from April 28 to May 1.

However, their attendance with the full lineup has been in question due to Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács's injury, and it seems that despite the Slovakian attending the playoffs of Malmö, Natus Vincere decided to skip CEVO Gfinity Finals.

The team's manager, Eugene "ugin" Erofeev, cited numerous issues to be the reason for them pulling out, such as being unable to fill out the necessary documents in time, preparing for other tournaments ahead, as well the Slovak's recovery:

"As much as we want to take part in all the tournaments, at times we just can’t do it physically. In this particular situation, we don’t have enough time to prepare the necessary documents to travel to England because the interval between the events does not allow us to. Besides, air travel can be extremely exhausting, and we have very important tournaments ahead, which require much time and preparation. So we decided to slow down a bit and miss CEVO Gfinity Season 9 LAN. Moreover, considering what’s been going on lately, our sniper Ladislav will also benefit from this decision." Erofeev said in a statement for navi-gaming.com.

With Natus Vincere pulling out of the $125,000 tournament, the team list for CEVO Gfinity Season 9 Finals now looks as follows:

Poland Virtus.pro  Canada OpTic  Denmark Dignitas Other TBA
Brazil Tempo Storm North America NA Bracket #2 North America NA Bracket #3 Europe EU Bracket #2

As of writing this article CEVO and Gfinity have not made an announcement about Natus Vincere's replacement.

Which is a good thing because tier 2 can have a chance to win something, and then tier 2 will grow and tier 3 will follow.
2016-04-20 21:01
there are million dollar leagues like ECS and E-league, majors, and huge dreamhack 250k tournaments why the fuck would they bother showing up to such a t2 tournament with their loaded schedule teams are getting burned out with so many events and the quality of their matches is dropping in consequence... people must start getting used to not seeing t1 teams in LANs twice a month, just like in dota 2

i feel so bad for this tournament's organizers, nowadays if your prize pool isn't at least $250k you're not gonna attract any of the top teams.
2016-04-20 18:16
yep, so funny how it changed so fast in just a couple of months. DH need to get a bigger prize pool soon or top teams will stop attending
2016-04-20 18:38
I dont know man, maybe its because there so much events in a short period of time, t1 teams needs to rest and train too, good to know that VP, TS and maybe LG will play.

In some months we will only see Dreamhack, Esl and MLG hosting tournaments with the big teams cause they don't need to take part in these "smaller ones" (insane to say that about a 120k tournament)

Well this may be what VP needs to get back on form, there should be no excuse to not get 1st place now. Unless somehow another T1 team joins the party but it seems CEVO has been avoided like the plague for most top teams.
