Four teams advance to EU Minor

With the first closed qualifier finished four teams have moved on to DreamHack's European Minor taking place at DreamHack Tours from May 14-16.

On Saturday the first open qualifier for the DreamHack European Minor took place, which would determine eight teams advancing to the closed stage through a best-of-one bracket.

Some of the bigger names such as ENCE and CPH Wolves made it out of the first open qualifier to join eight invited teams in the second stage.

dignitas through to the European Minor

Mostly it was the invitees to prevail in the Round of 16, apart from Preparation, who lost to the aforementioned Finns, and E-frag.net, who fell at the hands of nerdRage.

The quarter-finals saw the other two Danish teams, Dignitas and SK, defeat Aleksi "allu" Jalli's team and nerdRage respectively for two of the four spots.

The other two went to CSGL, whom GODSENT took to two reasonably close maps, and HellRaisers after defeating AGG on three maps.

Thus far, the list of teams for the European Minor looks as follows:

Denmark Dignitas Denmark SK
Poland CSGL Europe HellRaisers
Europe Closed Qualifier #2  Europe Closed Qualifier #2
Europe Closed Qualifier #2 Europe Closed Qualifier #2

The second round of qualifiers, again featuring two stages, will be played out over the next weekend, from April 30 to May 1.

DreamHack's European Minor, which will have $50,000 and two ESL One Cologne Main Qualifier spots on offer, is set to take place during DreamHack Tours from May 14-16.

its a joke that EU minor and CIS minor both get 2 spots, should be 3 for EU and one for CIS or just have one joint one for both

Well that's what happens after all the teams from CIS qualified to the major (gambit flipside) and are therefore automatically invited to main offline qualifier. Which makes space for other teams... If there were 3 CIS teams at the major then certainly there's a lot of talent in CIS that deserves opportunity.

I dont understand the format. How can GOD qualify after they lost a single elimination bracket to CSGL? I thought at that point it was over. I hope not....but it's a weird system.

I know. It is just weird that they get 2 bites on the apple. Is it like...quarterfinalists from first qualifier get second chances in the second qualifier...or what? I dont understand. So does deadweight have a second shot next week too? Or will it be other teams?

I think so yes
2016-04-25 11:20
I guess it's somehow like double elimination brackets... And it's good because if like two best teams met somewhere in the middle of the bracket... only one get's to advance when clearly both of them deserve a spot over some other teams... It's a good system.

Funny how Ence got the #1 seed for the Sunday games and got to face Dignitas, the best team invited to the qualifier... One would assume that the #1 seed would not need to face best team...

2016-04-24 23:11
Dignitas best team on that qualifier ? :DDDDDDDDD that was almost as pathetic lie(excuse) as finnish kids saying that ENCE is tier-1 team D:DDDDDD maybe just time to realize real world where ENCE just sucks and that why they ain't playing in big tournaments :)

Well, Mr Troll, which team was the best then if not Dignitas? Who is saying ENCE is tier 1? This is for the minor, which should not include much of the tier 1 teams anyways, but Dignitas is in the very border of tier 1.
2016-04-25 08:33

Finnish scene: If you say ENCE ain't tier-1, people call you "Mr Troll" :) I can name at least 4 better in qualifier than Dignitas: GODSENT, SK, CSGL, HellRaisers (probably more if i check full list for qualifier) and on good day E-frag.net (e-frag is very inconsistent) Dignitas is max tier-3 team, only tier-1 teams are: LG, Fnatic, NaVi, tier-2: Liquid, CLG, C9, Astralis, NiP, ENVYUS, VP etc.
2016-04-25 14:24

We have then completely different understandings what tier 1 team is. I would say around 6 to 8 teams are tier 1. Fnatic, LG, NaVi, NiP, Astralis, Envy, Mousesports are all tier 1. They can all beat each other and it would not be an upset. Tier 2 again is a set of teams that can have similar results. This is all teams basically from 8 to 20, and ENCE is in this group. Dignitas on the other hand is very top of tier 2. I would not pick them to win over those tier 1 teams on BO3, but it would not be a super big upset either. And no, SK, HR, E-FRAG or CSGL are not better than Dignitas. Godsent if they play Malmö level would be, but it looks like that tournament was more of a fluke.

Last BIG 6 events: LG: 4 finals, once 3rd, once 8 NaVi: 4 finals, once 3rd Fnatic: 3 finals, once 8 NiP, Astralis, Envyus or Mousesports, none of them couldn't even make to finals twice in last 6 big events. Real tier-1 is team that can constantly get to finals its quite obv that those 3 teams are on their own level at the moment. Just because some team can in good day beat of one best teams, doesn't make it best. Getafe can beat in good day Barcelona with some luck, but that surely don't make them tier-1 with Barcelona. Its how team place overall And you putting Mouz to tier-1 while they never even won big event hahahahahahahahahaha
