HellRaisers beat OpTic

The second Group A match concluded with HellRaisers beating OpTic (Cobblestone, 8-16, Cache, 16-8, Overpass, 16-3), earning themselves a spot in the winners’ match where they will face Virtus.pro, while the loser will face Splyce for a second chance in the elimination match.

The match started on Cobblestone, HellRaisers’ pick with OpTic taking the terrorist side pistol round in which Damian "daps" Steele won a 1vs1 afterplant situation against HellRaisers’ recent acquisition Vladyslav "bondik" Nechyporchuk.

OpTic got a 3-0 lead going into the first gun round, but Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný was quick to stop the streak from increasing with a quad-kill on A, forcing OpTic into a less than optimal fifth round buy.

Patrik "Zero" Žúdel winning a 1v2 afterplant on A got his team back even and forced OpTic into an eco, which HR won taking the lead for the first time in the map, 4-3. OpTic were quick to retaliate, however, tying the game 4-4 and pushing HellRaisers into a forcebuy.

After winning against the forcebuy, OG were flying as they won the eco and the next gun round, forcing HR back on a pistol buy and extending their lead to 7-4. The half ended with OpTic up 10-5, partly thanks to an impressive 19 frags by Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, although the score wasn’t representative of how close the half really was.

Another quad kill for Null element got HellRaisers the pistol round and the upper hand at the beginning of the second half of the map, the oft-favored terrorist side. The first buy round and the following went the way of the North American team, after which HellRaisers—trailing 12-8—, decided to take their timeout.

OpTic’s economy in shambles, with three FAMASes and a UMP in the mix were able to take the round, as daps beat bondik on a 1v1 afterplant for the second time this map. Losing another clutch situation was enough for HellRaisers to cave, as the Canadian team took it 16-8.

stan was law on Cobblestone

The second map, Cache, started out with OpTic trying to push into B site on the pistol round, but HellRaisers were able to hold their own and take the first round of the map. The first round went the way of OpTic, however, who were able to take advantage of HellRaisers holding less firepower as they kept weapons from the anti-eco rounds.

OpTic were quick to tie it up, as they were able to string two more rounds together, putting HellRaisers on the defensive going into the seventh round with nothing but pistols and eventually giving OpTic the lead.

Both teams then started trading rounds back and forth until HellRaisers won the 10th round, after which HellRaisers took the five remaining going into the second half 5-10.

HellRaisers got themselves close to victory by winning the pistol round, and put themselves on the driver’s seat for the rest of the map with a 6-13 lead after the two following anti-ecos. OpTic stopped HellRaisers from running away immediately, though, as they took the first gun round of the second half.

Martin "STYKO" Styk played a great 3v1 afterplant on the 22nd round to get his team to the 14th round, only two away from bagging the map and taking the match to a third map, which they did ending 16-8.

HellRaisers obliterated OpTic on Overpass.

The third and last map started with OpTic gaining the upper hand on the pistol round, but Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow and STYKO were able to win a 2v4 to bag the pistol round.

HellRaisers were able to hold on to the momentum, as the European team quickly got themselves 5-0 and in great position to take the map and match.

That wouldn’t be the end of it, though, as HellRaisers kept pounding on an OpTic team that was fraying at the seams, allowing the CTs only two rounds in the whole half.

OpTic won the T pistol round, giving them a third round, but HellRaisers won the following round and the anti-eco, putting the Europeans on 12 match points, despite only one more round was needed as the map got closed out 16-3.

Oh man, cobblestone looked very promising. But: -M1xwell was underperforming, let's hope it changes tomorrow -They need a coach rn, you cannot lose 5 rounds and don't call a timeout -Daps stop being the IGL so he can at least kill anybody -You could clearily see they were nervous, you shouldn't lose a 2 M4 vs 1 Tec-9

It's their first LAN. Of course they will be bad, since they've actually never played vs anyone as good as HR on LAN or online.

Well, is not m1xwell's first LAN against a top team. He almost beat fnatic and dignitas when he was playing for gbots. So i cannot understand the choke. But seriously, they really need a coach
2016-04-28 23:25
1 reply
It doesn't matter if he beat Fnatic on a joke tournament. He has never played on this high level before, and especially never on LAN of this level. It's not a choke, he just isn't that good.
