OpTic stun Astralis in Leicester

The first match of the $512,000 tournament saw the fourth ranked team in the world, Astralis, go up against the North American team OpTic. The map for the best-of-one match was Inferno and the Danes started on the CT-side.

René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg stopped the B-site rush with a triple kill in the pistol round and Astralis gained a 3-0 lead after securing the anti-eco rounds. OpTic barely got the bomb plant in the fourth round and came on top to get their first round win. They also secured the following round and forced the Danes to eco, which led to OpTic tying it at 3-3.

A triple kill by Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz gave Astralis their lead back but OpTic tied it at again, this time at 4-4 as Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic clutched a 1vs1. As OpTic made it 7-4, the Danish team asked for a timeout. Astralis answered back in the subsequent round but OpTic finished the half 9-6 ahead.

OpTic managed to win the pistol round but Astralis got a force buy victory. The back-and-forth rounds continued and the North American team made it 12-7 after two bomb defuses. OpTic attained eight match points after extending their lead to 15-7 and they won the match 16-7.
