Luminosity through to Pro League final

MIRAA
May 14th, 2016 19:00

Luminosity Gaming have booked their spot in the grand final of the ESL Pro League Season 3 Finals after seing off Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-1 (16-4 on Overpass, 8-16 on Dust2 and 16-10 on Cobblestone).

The series began on Overpass, Luminosity's map pick, and it was a complete blowout as Luminosity were in control from the get-go: a flying start from the Brazilians on the CT side saw them get out to a quick 6-0 lead, prompting NiP to call a tactical pause to discuss their strategy.

After the timeout, NiP finally managed to get some breathing room by picking up a couple of rounds, but every win from them was quickly countered by Luminosity, whose crushing economic control powered them to take a commanding 13-2 lead at half-time.

The second half began with NiP taking the pistol round after some great defensive work in B, with the Swedes following it up with an anti-eco round. But once Luminosity got their economy stabilised the momentum shifted back in their favor as they won three rounds straight en route to a 16-4 finish.

Luminosity were all over the place on Overpass

Next up was Dust2, where NiP took an early lead on the defensive side after winning a 3vs3 retake in the pistol round. A third-round buy from Luminosity did not work out, further setting them back on economic terms.

The scoreline bloomed to a 5-0 advantage in favour of NiP, but their winning streak came to an end after that as the Brazilians picked up back-to-back rounds. However, NiP were not going to let a comeback happen and went on another run to bring the scoreline to 10-2 before Luminosity picked up the final three rounds thanks to some great AWP shots from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "coldzera" David.

NiP further grew their lead in the second half by taking the pistol round, courtesy of a sensational 1vs3 clutch from Richard "Xizt" Landström on 12 hp, and the corresponding anti-ecos to make it 13-5. Luminosity kept themselves in the game by winning the first three full gun rounds, but a miraculous comeback was not on the cards as NiP locked down the map 16-8.

Xizt's 1vs3 clutch was a hard blow for the Brazilians

The decider map was Cobblestone, where a great start from Luminosity saw them win each of the first five rounds on the Terrorist side. NiP then picked themselves up and strung four rounds together to get inches away from their opponents, but then Luminosity went on another great run to close out the half with a 10-5 lead.

Now playing on the CT side, Luminosity made light work of NiP, winning five rounds in a row to reach match point. Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi took matters into his own hands and kept NiP in the game with an ace.

The Ninjas refused to throw in the towel in the chase for overtime and picked up several rounds in a row to force a tactical pause out of Luminosity. After adjusting their defense, the Brazilian team finally got their 16th round of the board, sealing passage to the grand final of the event, in which they will take on either fnatic or G2.

Expected, LG is better on Overpeass and Cobble, also is worse on Dust 2. Well, the best team in the world are proving themselves, let me see if you stay thinking that LG don't deserve their spot. Thank you NIP for the very hard games and GGWP.
2016-05-14 19:12
They do right now. But with everyone healthy Na'vi and fnatic > LG. That's a fact theres no way you can deny that.

Na'Vi is the same level as LG... But its expected from EU....
2016-05-14 19:17
You're welcome to prove it with facts. LG had close games vs Na'Vi in the major they won when guardian was playing at 30%, having his worse rating ever. EDIT: Expected from a blind fanboy.

Nah, hltv.org/news/16783-luminosity-to-last-f.. hltv.org/news/17265-luminosity-to-iem-fi.. there are more games but i can't find them, LG is beating NaVi since they change their rooster but ok, you're from EU so you have to support your idols.
2016-05-14 19:28
Ok then. It's funny how you only put the wins here. hltv.org/match/2299802-natus-vincere-lum.. hltv.org/match/2300444-luminosity-natus-.. hltv.org/match/2299865-natus-vincere-lum.. There's no point in arguing vs facts. And it's funny how 3 brazils go after you saying "rekt" when they know as much as you do. 0.

2 games from 2015 when LG wasn't that good and still with a new rooster (one game with old rooster - steel and boltz), its not a valid point imo. btw there's 1 game where they lost in finals vs navi in 2016, its fair enough imo but still a close game (OT both games). the score is 7 - 2 for LG in 2016, so...
2016-05-14 21:04
Then it just proves what i said :D LG is better in 2016 because Guardian has been injured, same as olof. But overall, and when everyone is at the top of their game. The RESULTS show that Na'vi and Fnatic (2015 fully healthy) WERE better than LG.

No, GuardiaN was 100% in January and they still lost 2-0. In 2015 every tier3 team was better than LG (CLG, G2, nV, cloud9, Flipsid3, TSM, liquid etc), its not a valid point again my friend. LG got better in 2016 after they changed their rooster and lost 16-0 to fnatic in DUST2. you can do better than that.
2016-05-14 21:14
what do you mean i can do better? I just fed you results and you keep telling me LG was better than Na'vi when they were not. It is just stupid and the thing that makes people here make fun of brazilians you just don't see things right in front of you. If Brazil had a hitler you guys would even be more fanatic than the germans. Most patriotic shit i've ever seen.

2016-05-14 22:08
"I just fed you results and you keep telling me LG was better than Na'vi" "LG is better in 2016 because Guardian has been injured, same as olof. But overall, and when everyone is at the top of their game. " CAN YOU EVEN READ?

No, LG is better than NaVi because they're playing very well, no to do with Guardian, even when he was 100% he lost so shut the fuck up. you're saying that LG is only better than NaVi now because of GuardiaN wrist, i am just telling you that its not true.

Fnatic with olof on the best shape can face equal against LG, that's what I think. This guys improved so fast and with so much quality that we can't say for sure what team will win between those two. One thing I know, Fnatic will not be the same when Olof returns. He's too much time away from the tournaments, and even well healed, it'll take some time for him to shape again. Nonetheless, LG should be careful playing this final, despite G2 or Fnatic wins on the next confront. Finaly, it's nice to have such good matches, independent of the team playing. Do you remember NIP x Fnatic major confronts? It's just nice to see good CS. Hope Fnatic and Na'Vi get in shape soon, then LG can show their real potential. The bigger the challenge the bigger LG grows! ;D
2016-05-14 19:21
Chuckdam, you, you I respect. No bullshit flaming against other teams, but instead stating facts; that's what I like, and if the "favelas" would be like this, no one would hate them. Ofc, when I say favelas I refer to those who talk shit. But yes, I agree, LG is a stronger team right now, and even though I am an NiP fan, I hope LG remain there, nice to see people from outside EU perform at a top level.

And I respect you, my friend. Don't listen to the trolls, they're not only brazillians, but worldwide. People that just want to piss you off. Real Brazilians are nice peoples and act very similar to FalleN. Also, those who just spread caos and offenses must be just kids in front a computer, discovering the power of the internet xD. Now, the facts are that LG and NIP continuing to improve in a way that everything that i've said about LG before can be applied to NIP. We are getting our well deserved spot since 2006 when Mibr shocked the world. CS in Brazil is a passion, everyone knows what it is, everyone played it sometime in the past on Lan. Pretty sure it was the case in Sweden and USA as well, don't know about Denmark. Let me ask you something. Are you not a fan of Astralis?
2016-05-14 19:35
No, I am indeed not a fan of Astralis. Never liked them, and never liked the way they try and represent themselves, they are a failure to me; try to say they are top 5, yet continue to fail in tournaments and against lesser opponents. So TL;DR, I'm not an Astralis fan, but an NiP fan, and I always have been.

Do you really think that the admins they have watch are trained to catch CS go cheats?? Do you really think the equipment pros turn in before games is thoroughly checked?? Do you really think that the pros use the mice provided for them? 100% of the time this is just not the case... Don't you think it would be really easy to switch to a special mouse? Do you know that one of the most profitable ventures for coders is having a working relationship with pro gamers, like the prize money isn't incentive enough? What would you do to get to the top if you made it your life's work ? I'm not saying LG is without a shadow of a doubt but they're certainly suspect. I don't need to provide you any proof, do your own research. I have no time to educate someone who doesn't think for themselves. This scene is falling off quick thanks to coders.
