ECS round robin reaches end

The round robin stage of ECS Season 1's European division has come to an end, with G2 joining Astralis at the offline finals.

With Astralis already through to the offline finals after posting an impressive 7-1 record in the round robin stage, the second spot was contested by NiP, G2, FaZe and mousesports as we headed into the final day of the league.

NiP took a giant step towards a top-two finish as they defeated mousesports on two maps before their final clash against in-form G2, who began the day by moving past dignitas 2-0.

With an excellent display from their in-form duo Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom and Richard "shox" Papillon, G2 were able to defeat NiP 16-13 on Dust2 and 16-14 on Train to create a three-way tie for second with the Swedish giants and also FaZe.

G2 set to return to London

The first criteria applied, map difference, ruled FaZe out as they had a -1 record, against their rivals' +5. And after much deliberation and confusion, the admins looked at the number of maps wons. This criteria put G2 through as they had 12 maps won in total, against NiP's 11.

There was also a three-way tie for sixth place, with fnatic leapfrogging both EnVyUs and Virtus.pro due to having a better map difference (-3 against both rivals' -4).

This means that Astralis and G2 are through to the offline finals, taking place from June 24-26 at the SSE Arena, in London. The last two continental spots will go to the leading teams of a double-elimination bracket featuring the teams who placed third to sixth.

I didn't say it was perfect. Faze should get 2nd cuz H2H, but since that ain't happening it makes more sense for G2 to be 2nd

rules are rules get over it :)

My thought exactly. Lately every tournament seems to use head to head matchups, but suddenly round difference counts the most. Sure, if it's in the rules, then that's how it is, but still seems strange to me.

Its not strange? First, it comes down to points. If its tied, +/- game points. If its tied again, h2h rule.

It should be Faze 2nd - G2 3rd - Nip 4th, so it's not perfect, but it's better than NiP 2nd

Wtf double elemination bracket? And b03 They do everything to get fnatic and nip there. There is never this format anymore. Also This mess up show u why this is the worst way to rule a 3way tie
2016-05-24 00:54
What's wrong with b03 double elimination? It's the best system to get the best teams win.

people embed.gyazo.com/03c6a9e9d946c90690e48add.. and they didn't "make" up the rules on the fly, they told the teams before the league started!
2016-05-24 01:08
lol, cut the crap. Every one can make up something like that on the fly, even the admin of the tournament. There goes your proof, vanishing into thin air as twitter.com/OfficialXizt/status/73488138..

Just because they didn't know the rules doesn't mean ECS didn't send them before the tournament as the admin said on Reddit.
2016-05-24 01:54
xizt literally said on his twitter that the admin told them different rules before the match, confirmed those rules after the match and changed the team that goes through afterwards because they "were wrong". Of course faceit admins will try to save face on Reddit, just for curiosity link me the thread if you can find it.
2016-05-24 03:51
This is so retarded even the players didnt know the rules twitter.com/GeT_RiGhTcs/status/734857448.. twitter.com/fribergCS/status/73485232879.. twitter.com/pythCS/status/73485747577885.. twitter.com/G2shox/status/73485964370554.. im pretty sure they just made up this shit :This criteria put G2 through as they had 12 maps won in total, against NiP's 11.

something doesn't feel right about this. round difference lol...
2016-05-24 09:02
Please learn to read guys. Whether round difference is a stupid way to rule a tiebreaker is pretty irrelevant in this case, since it doesn't apply. It's map difference.
2016-05-24 10:11
you said impressive 7-1?
