Cloud9 and Renegades split maps

Cloud9 and Renegades have won one map each in the last match of Group A's round robin (Train 16-7, Cobblestone 11-16) at ELEAGUE.

Renegades and Cloud9 played the final best-of-two of ELEAGUE's Group A, which was practically a pre-match of tomorrow's semi-final between the two, as the top and bottom seed have already been determined.

Jake "Stewie2K" Yip kicked things off in style on Train, as he nearly took a 1v4 to his name as he attempted to defend the dropped bomb on the B bombsite as CT, but eventually fell to the last player.

Renegades and Cloud9 to meet again in the Group A semi-finals

However, his team made up for it in the following round, and two more afterwards as they won a forcebuy quite comfortably. Renegades then showed up with five rounds in a row, breaking their opponent's economy twice during their run to a 6-3 lead.

From there on, it was all Cloud9 until the end of the half, as Stewie2K and Alec "Slemmy" White put up the numbers to take a 9-6 half. The youngster and veteran Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert then combined with doubles to take the second pistol, extending their lead to 14-6. It didn't take long before the map came to a close as the North American lineup picked up a 16-7 victory on map one.

Cobblestone followed as map two, this time with Cloud9 getting a 3-0 lead despite a scary quad-kill from Justin "jks" Savage in the second-round forcebuy. Renegades decided to force it up again in the fourth round and won it, but Stewie2K's 1v1 win put them up against a three-round deficit again.

However, great offensive play from the Australians gave them seven rounds in a row, most of which went their way in a comfortable manner, before Cloud9 put in three rounds at the end, making it 8-7 in favor of Renegades.

Another pistol round win for Slemmy and company saw them retaking the lead and their four MAC-10's in the first gunround nearly worked, as Mike "shroud" Grzesiek was close to winning a 1v3 while Karlo "USTILO" Pivac got four kills and the final 1v1.

Out of the remaining rounds, Renegades managed to only drop one, winning the second map at 16-11.

What I saw on Train, which is imo a better map for C9, made me think that they could take them on Cobble. And Renegades Train vs. LG was impressive imo. I don't even think you could call this luck, as Renegades won even without winning pistols.

Cloud9 literally throwed second cbble half because there was no point for them continue playing. Teams like this deserve to be rekt in playoffs.

Why are they so over analyzing cobble? C9 gave zero fucks on their t side. Meaningless map
2016-05-26 00:50
So Liquid can still win a group if they win against LG? So the situation would be excacly the same if Liquid was 1st and LG 4th?

There is nothing wrong with the format. The format is the preferred one by professional players and the same one used at The International. Please stop talking you idiots. Don't you want the best team in the group playing the worst? How are you supposed to determine that? You kids are baffling idiots.

So you talked with players in person? The thing that is wrong with this format is that team that is 1st in a group and won all 6 of their matches have the same chance of advancing as a team that finished 4th in a group with 6 loses, so it doesn't matter if you win 6 games or lose 6 games, the outcome is the same.

wait what how?

The games played in this group stage only defines who plays who in the playoffs where the tournament actually start for real with a BO3 against 1#LG vs 4#Liquid and #2 vs #3 of the group.

They weren't exactly "throwing" on cobble... Like they were still trying a bit... But you could definitely tell that they knew they had 2nd place and weren't really giving a shit anymore and putting overly much effort in.. That full mac 10 play on the CT's buy round pretty much confirmed they were just giving zero fucks about it, haha.
