Luminosity top ECS Group A
Luminosity Gaming have secured the first spot in the ECS Season 1 Finals last-four stage after edging out Team Liquid 16-12 on Train.
The match began with Luminosity taking the pistol round and the following anti-ecos to start off the game with a 3-0 lead. Liquid then responded in the first gun round, thanks in no small part to Josh "jdm64" Marzano's double kill, but their economy was left in shambles right after as the Brazilians rallied back.
Down 1-6, Liquid were able to get a second round on the board, with jdm64 once again getting crucial kills. That win eventually turned into a streak, but just when Liquid were about to close the gap, Luminosity found their feet again and ran away with the lead, ending the half with 10 rounds.
Luminosity through to the semi-finals
The second half followed the same pattern of the first, with Luminosity securing the pistol round with ease. A third-round buy from Liquid proved successful thanks to a quad kill from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, and it initiated a great spell from the North Americans, who hit double digits.
Liquid went on to reduce the deficit to just two rounds as they continuously punished Luminosity, who struggled to get their economy in order. But as the threat of overtime loomed, the Brazilians reached match point, with Marcelo "coldzera" David hammering the final nail in Liquid's coffin with an ace.
