HeatoN to be inducted into HOF

Former Ninjas in Pyjamas legend Emil "HeatoN" Christensen has been announced as the first person to be inducted into the Esports Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will take place on July 10 at the ESL One Cologne Major, with current NiP captain Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund presenting Emil "HeatoN" Christensen before he is recognised.

To be eligible for a place in the Hall of Fame, players must have had a career worthy of being inducted and be retired for at least a year.

HeatoN is the first Esports Hall of Fame inductee

Widely regarded as one of the most popular figures in the Counter-Strike scene, HeatoN founded Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2001 and won several international tournaments before hanging up his mouse in 2007.

In 2012, he rebuilt NiP following CS:GO's release and helped to create that which would be the most dominant team during the game's first year.

The nomination and the voting process were conducted by a panel of experts, in which HLTV.org is represented. As of yet, Counter-Strike is the only game featured in the Hall of Fame, but in the future other titles will be included.

Spawn was the one deserved it, if markelof wasn't playing he could take it too
2016-06-28 21:42
potti>spawn
2016-06-28 21:44
Potti > all. His importance on professional esports in general is so often overlooked. FIRST professional in cs history, founded arguably the most well known esports org of all time, NiP, and was a phenomenal player that quit before he was past his prime. The community, however, is still clueless.

2016-06-28 21:54
not even arguable, they are not close to clg tsm etc
2016-06-28 21:55
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA. clg and tsm more WELL KNOWN? Holy shit, LOLOLOL!
2016-06-28 21:56
Actually TSM and Fnatic are the most known e-sport orgs right now.
2016-06-28 22:00
Who said anything about RIGHT NOW? We're talking of all time. TSM, fnatic, Clg, all those current popular orgs have pretty well established LoL teams, thus adding to their fanbases. NiP doesn't delve into other sports too often.
2016-06-28 22:20
U're aware of Fnatic CS team is also much more popular than NiP right? Also if we are gonna talk about past SK was almost more popular than NiP.
2016-06-28 22:21
Think you're confused on the definitions of Well Known and Popular. They are not the same thing.
2016-06-28 22:22
If u are popular that means u are well known. For example; Kardashians. Stop trying to change subject for ur wrong definition about NiP.
2016-06-28 22:24
Popular means of favor. Well Known means widely, and thoroughly known. Michael Jordan, well known. Steph Curry, popular. Tell me Steph Curry is more well known than Jordan...
2016-06-28 22:26
Steph Curry is a new guy on the block and u are comparing him with a legend. Fnatic and SK has been around almost as much as NiP. So one of them being popular means they're more known.
2016-06-28 22:28
spunJ should be next in hall of fame

Did you fall from stairs when you were younger? We are talking about most known org right now, not organization which was "famous" and now is "legendary" in old shit 1.6 times ;-)
2016-06-28 22:16
No, we're not actually. Says specifically "arguably ONE OF the most well know orgs of ALL TIME."
2016-06-28 22:17
While 1.6 were watching like 30k people at the best now you can see hundreds of thousands watching some games. So I think nowadays organizations are building better name and are more known than some old crappy organizations which were playing 1.6 with minimum viewers ;-) also we are not only talking about csgo and cs 1.6. There is dota scene, lol scene, COD scene, which has organizations (as was mentioned tsm,clg,faze...). These arent maybe the oldest ones, but people know them a lot more than fucking 1.6 shit orgs

BECAUSE THERE WAS NO INTERNET IN THE FUCKING WORLD and gaming was as popular as watching koalas mate. So in reality 30000 back then was actually more impressive than a 1000000 now, simply because we were the die-hard fans and some of us used to go to internet cafe to pay for watching a tournament, if there was enough hltv slots available. What effort do today "gamers" make? Get free stuff, opportunity to bet on matches while watching at home, all streamed with a commentary? Don't be a fucking idiot and think before you spew bullshit.
2016-06-29 08:17
yo m8 in the 2010 a lot of people had internet ;) Your point is invalid, you are trying to say that 1.6 was more popular than csgo. Idk if u are retard or just pretend to be

Who the fuck is talking about 2010? I am talking about 2004-2007, if you really think CS:GO is in any way more "popular" or "better" than 1.6 at that time was, you belong to a sanatorium.
2016-06-29 21:18
You do realise that NiP is still a part of this right and for two years was the most dominant CS team in history? And NiP was also represented in LoL for a long time. So we are not only talking about the 1.6 times. (which in fact wasn't all 1.6, but you idiots can't really see the difference).

In terms of cs, yes NiP is the worlds most known org of all time.

Potti was really the best
2016-06-28 22:08
Don't forget he was roommates with HeatoN for many years and teached HeatoN allmost everything he knows said by HeatoN himself.
2016-06-28 22:19
nip most well known esports org of all time kekd thank you good sir *tips fedora*
2016-06-28 22:34
If Potti hadn't vanished from the CS scene after he stopped playing, he'd probably be in contention with Heaton over the first spot. They were two of the best in the world, and you can argue all day about who the better player was. But even after Heaton stopped playing he took on coaching and managerial roles, keeping his name somewhat in the spotlight while Potti faded away. The fact of the matter is that Heaton has stuck with CS through the good times and the bad and showed a true passion for the game even when it looked like 1.6 was dying and had no feasible future. Ironically enough, now that CSGO is so huge, Potti sees opportunity and is trying to make a comeback to the scene - and someone trying to cash in on their legacy like that is, imo, one of the last things you want in a hall of fame inductee. Even still, he will certainly get in eventually, but there was no question that the honor of first inductee was going to Heaton.
2016-06-28 23:00
It's not though, everyone know Potti and HeatoN is the fathers of CS

2016-06-28 22:12
this isnt a 1 person only award, this is a hall of fame, many players can be inducted, and ofc Heaton would be the first, thanks to his career and to all his contribution to the scene!
2016-06-28 21:45
I know this isn't one person. But Spawn and Markelof was everbody's top players in those times. They should be the first ones.
2016-06-28 21:48
no, Heaton as been around for more and made a bigger contribution.. Spawn was a fan favorite, one of mine too but theres no reason to the first HoF inductee in cs to be any other player than heaton
2016-06-28 21:50
This is hall of fame. In normal sports nobody makes someone HoF for founding a team etc. They give it for their talent and carreer. And no Heaton's player carreer definitely doesn't deserve to be first.
2016-06-28 21:54
"Heaton's player carreer definitely doesn't deserve to be first" what? Lol he was probably the first to really master the game, part of that legendary 2003 sk lineup and ofc all his contributions are very important, you can see in music HoF's and etc the artists contributions to a genre and etc. are very important when it comes to being inducted to HoF
2016-06-29 01:09
hmm, SpawN was a good player I agree. But if you remember that SpawN was a stand-in for WCG 2003 when SK won (the only WCG title a Swedish team got) before then HeatoN were better.
2016-06-28 22:08
Spawn was a new player back then. He dominated between 2005-2006,07
2016-06-28 22:11
heaton is a legendary player + he still works in the gaming world and acheived a lot (NiP) markeloff is a legendary player but plays for 2 years in a shitty team SpawN was a legendary player but he didn't do anything about cs since then
2016-06-28 22:25
Like i said to the other guy; This is hall of fame. In normal sports nobody makes someone HoF for founding a team etc. They give it for their talent and carreer. And no Heaton's player carreer definitely doesn't deserve to be first. Spawn had better talent and carreer in his peak than Heaton.
2016-06-28 22:32
HeatoN was the first super star in CS. SpawN was a good player sure, but he was not anywhere close to having the same high-profile in the game. And "Dominated" between 2005 and 2007 lmao. This is so fucking stupid I have no words. If anybody was the TOP1 world superstar between 2005 and 2007 it would have to be somebody like f0rest.
2016-06-28 22:54
f0rest is Getright's shadow and u are calling him superstar. Actually its normal we're in HLTV. Somehow people think f0rest is the better of GTR-f0rest duo lul.
2016-06-28 22:55
You are cleary some newbie talking out of your ass. f0rest won CS player of the year in 2006, and finished third in 2005. He was not top 5 in 2007 sure, but then again SpawN (or Gtr) was not in top 5 any of those years. SpawN's best period was during 2003 with the rest of the classic SK lineup: ahl, potti, heaton, fisker, and element. Everyone who isn't a mong knows this. But nt newbie.

I'm basing this estimation off the absolute retarded arguments you are making here froggie, I couldn't care less about a fucking forum registration date, this indicates absolutely nothing towards actual knowledge of the game

well i am respected as a top 2 analyst in the scene currently.

HeatoN should be the first for good reason. He was a top3 player in the world during the earlier days of Counter-Stike, but the reason he is in the HOF shouldn't be because of his skill. HeatoN was never a top 1.6 player, and during the last year or so of his 1.6 career he was actually quite bad compared to other top pros. What he did was create teams that would go on to be the best in the world. He was a leader in game. Not a strategical leader but a guy with a huge presence and he brought in some players who would go on to be the best in the world. zet is a prime example of someone that HeatoN gave a chance to and he took full advantage and became the most dominant player in the world at one point. Decent player, amazing leader.
2016-06-28 23:40
"HeatoN was never a top 1.6 player" what to you mean with a top 1.6 player?define top player.... top3? come on... he obviously was a top player...he was still one of the best players in the end of his career...maybe not the best but definitely one of the best. I just think people had too much expectations on him his last year....you can't crush it forever. Also zet is definitely over hyped...he had 1 really sick year but not much more.
2016-06-30 00:22
If you watched HeatoN as a player in 1.6, come the end he wasn't even top20. Personally i wouldn't even have had him in the top30. He never evolved with the game. I remember when crouch hopping around corners to peak started to become big, HeatoN would still be crouching slowly around corners. He just wasn't good in 1.6. His best times as a player were in earlier versions / very early 1.6 zet had 1 sick year but he was so dominant. To come from almost nothing outside of Sweden to easily top3 in the world in such a short amount of time was very impressive.
2016-06-30 04:06
Well... yes i did watch him in the end of his career and he fore sure was top 20.....incredible stable player.
2016-06-30 09:11
Potti founded NiP. He said that in an interview. Also a better player, Heaton even accused him of cheating beacause he owned him so bad. But Heaton is still a legend.
2016-06-28 23:54
That's why Potti will come after Heaton.

Heaton is the appropriate choice. I can remember reading that heaton said potti was better than him, but watching heaton play for the first time was unforgettable. he inspired a TON of players in that era even more than potti I think and in the long run did more to drive CS to where it is. congrats Emil and ty for the memories!
