Liquid invited to ESL One New York
ESL has announced that Team Liquid have been invited to compete at the upcoming ESL One event, in New York.
The North American giants are the third team to have earned an invitation to compete at the event, joining a list that also features ESL One Cologne champions SK Gaming and ECS Season 1 winners G2 Esports.
Liquid surpassed all expectations at the Cologne Major as they finished in second place, with Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev acting as a stand-in. The last spot on the team has since been taken by Danish talent Jacob "Pimp" Winneche, formerly of SK Gaming and dignitas.
Team Liquid to compete at ESL One New York
The news comes just days after Liquid were announced as one of the first two confirmed teams for IEM Oakland, alongside SK.
ESL One New York will take place from October 1-2 at the Barclays Center, home of NBA franchise Brooklyn Nets and of NHL team New York Islanders, with $250,000 on offer. Tickets for the event can be purchased on ESL's website.
The last five invites are expected to be released by ESL in the coming weeks. The list of participants for the event now currently consists of:
