Invites for ECS Dev. League revealed

The organisers of the Esports Championship Series have revealed the eight teams that have been invited to compete in its Development League.

With ECS Season 2 due to start only in October, the league's organisers will be hosting in September a qualifying tournament to give teams the chance to earn spots in the $1.75 million competition.

The ECS Development League will consist of two divisions, each one with eight teams - four invites and four determined by open online qualifiers.

SK will need to requalify for ECS

In North America, the top two teams from the Development League division will take on the bottom two teams of Season 1 in promotion matches to determine the final teams entering ECS Season 2.

In Europe, the first-placed team of the qualifiers will move directly into ECS due to the region having an additional spot up for grabs following Na`Vi's withdrawal, which means that it will be the runner-up and the third-placed side going to the promotion stage against the bottom teams from the inaugural season.

Below you can find the participants' list for the Development Leagues:

Europe North America
Sweden GODSENT Brazil SK
World Natus Vincere Australia Renegades
Russia Gambit Brazil Immortals
Ukraine FlipSid3 United States Selfless
Poland AGG (Open qualifier #1)  Canada RONIN (Open qualifier #1)
Denmark X (Open qualifier #2)  United States Prospects (Open qualifier #1)
Europe Open qualifier #3 North America Open qualifier #3
Europe Open qualifier #4 North America Open qualifier #4

SK Gaming will need to requalify for ECS through the Development League after losing their spot in the league following the signing of Luminosity Gaming's squad.

I understood your point bro. But in 15 years of CS champs this rules exist. Football teams have a 30 players plantel, CS are five and if you change one team is not the same. Put your brain to work, So Bit1, Nak, Destiny, Yel and PKL now are qualified cause LG now?

It works now. Never happened before E-league and now ECS. Terrible future to CS if this be a general rule. Good teams losing spots and not good teams winning without any effort

You should be very happy actually. Because, based on the rules LG will most likely have a spot in the league. So now you will get to see another brazilian team that would most likely have a hard time qualifying AND SK who will definetely qualify. Just a win for the Brazilian fans imo.
2016-08-20 21:03
Giving spots to orgs instead of players is really a shitty way to do stuff on CS. I wonder how Valve that's is always so silent, gets so talkative about coaches and ask tournaments to use their rules but say shit about this. Even when it goes against the rules Valve enforces on the majors, handling spots to a 3 players core instead of orgs.
