Cloud9 to StarSeries semis over F3

Cloud9 bested FlipSid3 2-1 (Overpass 16-8, Train 8-16, Mirage 16-5) on their way to the semi-finals of SL i-League StarSeries Season 2.

FlipSid3 began the first quarter-final clinching the pistol round as Counter-Terrorists for an early 3-0 lead. Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's entry kills in the following four then helped Cloud9 take the lead away, though FlipSid3 won the next forcebuy and equalized Overpass at 4-4.

From there on until the end of the half, Cloud9 powered through the defence and grabbed a strong 11-4 half with FlipSid3 barely getting any footing in the rounds.

Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy's side overpowered the B bombsite in the second pistol round, lowering the deficit to four rounds, while Cloud9 grabbed two gunrounds on the B bombsite, one of which was a close retake including a 1v2 from Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert.

Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham's aggression earned him two opening kills, pushing Cloud9 to 14-7, while FlipSid3 were forced to eco. The Ukraine-based squad managed to delay with a great fake, but eventually conceded map one at 8-16.

Train was much more promising for F3, who got off to a 4-2 start as Terrorists once they stabilized from trading the first couple of rounds. Cloud9 couldn't find a response to their opponents' executes at all and lost a couple of retake scenarios while FlipSid3 were on their way to 9-3.

Cloud9 are the first semi-finalists of StarSeries

With Yegor "markeloff" Markelov finding a few entries, his team pushed to a crushing 11-4 halftime score and after completing a close retake on the B bombsite in the second pistol round, FlipSid3 were two rounds away from equalizing the series.

Cloud9 avoided match point for four rounds, one of which included a quad-kill from Jan "wayLander" Rahkonen in an eco, but FlipSid3 closed it out eventually at 16-8 with Georgi "WorldEdit" Yaskin and wayLander delivering most of the blows.

Cloud9 kicked off the decider, Mirage, by clinching the first pistol round on the back of Skadoodle's triple up against a late-round strategy. FlipSid3 were prepared for the Americans' aggression in the first couple of gunrounds, equalizing the score at 3-3.

As the next two rounds were traded, Cloud9 found themselves on an eco, but they correctly rotated into the B bombsite where n0thing added a triple to his name only with a P250.

The economy turned on its head, as it was Stewie2K's squad who had the advantage, forcing their opponents on two ecos over the next four rounds for an 8-4 lead. Cloud9 ended up switching to Terrorists at a comfortable 10-5 and added a pistol round on top of it, inching ever closer to the semi-finals.

Stewie2K then came out on top of a 1v2 afterplant clutch thanks to a well-placed molotov from B apartments and Mike "shroud" Grzesiek's five kills over the next two rounds gave Cloud9 the victory at 16-5.

there's no god way xyp9x is better than yung stew or autimatic.
2016-09-10 13:37
Well no doubt Device is the better rifler. But if you compare Ska to the other C9 guys he doesn't need to be as good as Device. Plus he outskills his awp. So either Ska=Dev or Ska>Dev. Our friend oskzur pretty much had it right. You could only argue about Shroud=dupreeh depends on the map tho.

Atm i would take ska over device for sure, even though xyp is better than auti, he is playing pretty insane and has so many impact frags.

Feel bad for flipside. Waylander is out of shape which is pretty sad. They had a chance... On the other hand im happy for c9 and stewie +autimatic. Hope that they will be able to play on the highest level. Potential is surely there

Exactly. I cheer for all these teams(underdogs) and its rly nice to see them beating the top teams. Nice to see someone like you who dont trashtalk the best teams because the lost and who are able to give some credit to these teams. I hate blind fanboys (and im fan of navi) who only try to make excuses

I like a lot C9, but they're not really underdogs, they are supposed to be a top team. I'm glad to see them coming back to what is supposed to be their "real" level. Can't wait for the semis :D

They werent relevant since their last run where they were able to finish in final 4 tournaments in a row... Thats fact. And they were underdogs (and everyone here trashtalked them when they picked stewie)... But yea, the big names are there and i hope that they will be stable to team
