OpTic qualify for ESL One New York

OpTic have secured the eighth spot at ESL One New York by winning the North American qualifier over Cloud9.

Eight teams stood at the start of the ESL One New York North America qualifier, including some of the biggest names such as Cloud9, Immortals and OpTic, and played for a single spot at the $250,000 event kicking off in just under three days.

Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert's team defeated CLG in a narrow best-of-three in the quarter-finals and quickly disposed of TSM on their way to the grand final.

OpTic snatched the last spot at ESL One New York

On the other side of the bracket, the Brazilians and OpTic won their initial battles over Complexity and NRG respectively before meeting in the semi-finals.

Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas and company squeaked by Immortals and took on Cloud9 in today's grand final. After two close encounters, on Train and Overpass, OpTic comfortably secured Cobblestone and grabbed the last spot at ESL One New York.

Its great isn't it. Don't worry though someone might not be able to go. Or there might be some type of petition. C9 usually doesn't qualify for things, but gets in them anyway.

2016-09-28 06:29
Maybe optic will not have time to get everything organized. That would be about how things normally go.
2016-09-28 06:30
Sad, C9 are a much better lan team.
2016-09-28 08:42
You seem to be pretty upset over everything related to C9. Just relax for a moment and enjoy the event.
2016-09-28 06:32
Nah, I just like giving C9 fans shit. It is a bit annoying how over rated they are, but it will be over soon enough.
2016-09-28 06:32
So you aren't mad but you enjoy going on to internet forums for the sole purpose of shitting on other people?
2016-09-28 06:34
Giving someone shit is not the same as shitting on them. Also C9 fans are pretty annoying so whatever.
2016-09-28 06:36
Whatever the difference may be, you are giving someone a hard time when they are probably already dissapointed after the loss. This is the kind of shit that isn't needed, just grow up and enjoy the game. It doesn't really matter how "annoying" the fans are. Evey team has annoying fans so just get used to it.

Congrats to Optic, little slip up on the 2nd map but other than that they had this win in the bag the whole series.
2016-09-28 04:11
You could say the same thing about cloud 9 the first map could have one 2 0 just like optic could have
2016-09-28 05:47
? Optic out played them on every map in the series, had a little slip up on the 2nd map.
2016-09-28 05:50
I dont think they outplayed them on overpass, C9 had it on lock down during their CT side. And train was decided by a few timings and plays that could have gone either way.
2016-09-28 05:59
that 1v1 autim won while having 14hp saved overpass, else it would have been 13-6 up for opric and a save from c9
2016-09-28 06:35
That's true but that could also be said for a lot of the timings and rounds on train. Like the numerous times Stan pushed inner right after a c9 member cleared it or the flying ak shot at connector.
2016-09-28 06:37

it's not that I hate optic, I just think c9 had a better chance at going further in the tournament. Optic will choke again like they did at the last major, and we all know optic players are still toxic af, so once this little honeymoon phase since picking up Tarik is over, I expect shit results.
2016-09-28 07:30
I pretty much agree. Played with stanislaw in an ESEA pug a couple weeks ago and he queued with a toxic loser who yelled at me for "following him" in upper tuns while we were saving. He's the type of "pro" to not comm at all with the team because he thinks he's too good for us. Hope he gets shit on in this tourney cause he deserves it with that shit attitude. ;)

come on guys, you all know that c9 cant play lan with that type of teams, optic will do better than c9 i think...
2016-09-28 16:33
is Optic best NA team then ?
2016-09-28 16:56
I dont know, but the fact is, you can see what games were played like last month or something, and make a statement about c9 being the best na team atm, but to me online matches doesnt mean a damn thing... the oportunities that c9 had with pressure they choked, simple as that, if optic go to this lan and put a fight against the top teams to me they are better than c9 by far... immortals crushed c9 at last lan, optic now outplayed c9 100% on pressure game... how could a team be the best if they cant perform on lan/pressure? the chances of ska or shroud or n0thing playing like a bot on a pressure important game is huge... and they are doing the same thing forever lol, this "oh but c9 still looking hot atm" is the normal thing ahahah
2016-09-28 17:01
last time optic played on lan they got rekt. This is optic's honeymoon phase, similar to cloud9's when auti first joined. Naf and stan are toxic af, there will be arguments soon especially with a braindead teammate like Tarik. Also to note, all of optic's wins have been online, winning against sk, and beating c9 are all online games, on lan they are still shit.
2016-09-28 17:49
yeah, but they are kind of a fresh team, MAYBE they will perform, just like beggining of every cloud9 time lol, cant you see it? just with auti, mayyybe c9 will become good, oh no, choked already couple times, hmm not going to happen.... till optic choke in this lan they will have at least a hope to be better than c9 for me, you need to go full bot mode to be worse than c9 on lan comps
2016-09-28 19:01
Yea they got rekt at the major where to get there they had to qualify on LAN beating Immortals 2-0 in semis 16-6/16-5 then 2-1 in finals of the Americas minor. Then they went to the major qualifier an beat Hellraisers flipside and Fluffy Gangsters to qualify for the major. They've also beaten Astralis on Lan and played SK and NIP and other teams pretty close.
2016-09-28 23:08
m8 that was with a different lineup. And at the major they got destroyed. pretty sure they came out in last or close to last place. They also got rekt at northern arena lan, I mean naf just doesn't show up on lan they lost to echo, tsm, and heroic on lan. All teams that have lost to c9 recently. Astrallis also got beat by c9 on lan. Optic's only acheivments are, winning against sk in an online series, and winning against immortals in an online series and beating c9. optic doesn't even play in the same room together, Tarik, stan, and naf aren't even in the same state as mix and rush.
2016-09-29 16:05
Northern Arena wasn't this lineup. They have yet to play on LAN with this lineup. hltv.org/match/2302607-astralis-optic-es.. NAF has had some good LAN performances.
2016-09-29 19:10
It's funny because if this game was on LAN, C9 probably would have won.
2016-09-29 02:32
The entry into these tournaments are kind of a joke. Cloud9 is like 21 and 1 in ESL...but they don't qualify for this major because they lost 2 - 1 in qualifier. Autimatic with the carry.
2016-09-28 16:35
thats the key thing, c9 flyes with online games bo2 and stuff... when come to important decider matches, they choke... optic is playing good, we dont know how they will perform on lan against top teams yet... but is not that hard to play on lan better than c9, for real =p
2016-09-28 16:41
Spain Alser
There is so much ignorance in that post holy shit. -ESL NY is not a major -Why the fuck would C9's online record in a completely different league matter at all in this qualifier? Invites were handed out before C9 had any good results on LAN, and understandably it was the teams with good results that got invites.
