Team list for IeSF finalized

The International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) announced the 21 CS:GO teams that will be competing at the 8th e-Sports World Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 6-9.

The CS:GO competition will be played alongside the League of Legends and Hearthstone tournaments, with the country with the best results in all three games combined taking the title of the e-Sports World Champion.

Last year's competition was won by Serbia and had Korea taking second place, but featured StarCraft 2 - which was replaced by CS:GO for this year.

The organizer announced the participation of the following CS:GO teams:

Australia Athletico Azerbaijan FiRENATioN  Brazil Hardknocks China TYLOO
Egypt Anubis  Finland ENCE Georgia eSportsLab Indonesia nxl
Italy ExAequo Korea MVP Project Philippines Mineski Romania Nexus
Russia 5FRAGS Serbia iNation South Africa Team South Africa  Sweden Dank Deaglez
Switzerland Maaischguet Thailand Signature Tunisia DreamRAR Vietnam Sabertooth
Other Team Maldives

With most teams and players prioritizing one of the two overlapping events: WESG EU&CIS and TWC 2016, TYLOO should be the favorite for the event - as they are the only HLTV top 30 team to attend.

Team such as Athletico could have something to prove if they get a chance to face off against lower tier European teams such as ENCE, 5FRAGS or Nexus, while iNation will hope to get a good result to defend their nation's first place from last year.

With Tyloo attending, China are set to win the CS:GO competition

The tournament will use a round-robin group stage format, followed by a single elimination best-of-three playoff bracket. The prize pool for the CS:GO competition is $20,000, with additional prize money awarded for final national rankings.

CS:GO Prize pool distribution:

1. - $10,000
2. - $6,000
3. - $4,000

HLTV didn't announced this tournament nor the qualifiers... they also didn't ever featured any matches related to the event. Then out of nowhere, this news. If the main CS website didn't drop a single letter on the whole thing, I wonder how these small teams were aware of the existence of the tournament (and it's qualifiers, as you're saying).
2016-09-30 15:26
Each country's federation holds a LAN event, the winner of the LAN event qualifiers to go representing the country. That's the overall premise not sure if everyone has done it or not, but that's what was done for Anubis (which is my team). EDIT: The event contacts the federations, the federations generates local announcements for their respective country. Which is why it was pretty low-key I guess.

It's an Egyptian flag, and I'm a dual nationality. Which is the reason why I've been the team captain for Egypt the last two years. Pretty common knowledge. hltv.org/news/14968-world-championships-.. hltv.org/news/17887-twc-2016-captains-un..

2016-09-30 16:37
Common knowledge? Get off of your high horse lmao
2016-09-30 15:46
That was not my intention :), I meant that it wasn't a secret that I have a dual nationality, if I were a little bit more awake at the time I wrote that, I should have said it was public knowledge since I'm not embarrassed by it. I agree though, "common knowledge" did sound bad!

they need to stop calling events "world championships" , the only true world championship event was WCG, and it was a limited format anyway that doesn't really work in modern csgo.

You're telling me all these random nonamers teams pay their own trip to the event? Traveling to Jakarta will be more expensive than the 1st place for the EU teams. lol
2016-09-30 15:52
same with WESG.. at least this is 20k tournament, not 100k xd
2016-09-30 15:52
isn't WESG 1.5m?
2016-09-30 15:58
yes but regional finals have 75k i think, space soldiers destroyed all me and aus teams..
2016-09-30 16:01
IeSF and national federations covered the trips for the teams, they're sending people in 3 games. Similarly how in WESG all teams have their trips paid by WESG.
