The International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) announced the 21 CS:GO teams that will be competing at the 8th e-Sports World Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 6-9.
The CS:GO competition will be played alongside the League of Legends and Hearthstone tournaments, with the country with the best results in all three games combined taking the title of the e-Sports World Champion.
Last year's competition was won by Serbia and had Korea taking second place, but featured StarCraft 2 - which was replaced by CS:GO for this year.
The organizer announced the participation of the following CS:GO teams:
|5FRAGS||iNation||Team South Africa||Dank Deaglez|
With most teams and players prioritizing one of the two overlapping events: WESG EU&CIS and TWC 2016, TYLOO should be the favorite for the event - as they are the only HLTV top 30 team to attend.
Team such as Athletico could have something to prove if they get a chance to face off against lower tier European teams such as ENCE, 5FRAGS or Nexus, while iNation will hope to get a good result to defend their nation's first place from last year.
With Tyloo attending, China are set to win the CS:GO competition
The tournament will use a round-robin group stage format, followed by a single elimination best-of-three playoff bracket. The prize pool for the CS:GO competition is $20,000, with additional prize money awarded for final national rankings.
CS:GO Prize pool distribution:
1. - $10,000
2. - $6,000
3. - $4,000
