Liquid ease past G2 in New York

Team Liquid are now 1-1 at ESL One New York after defeating G2 Esports 16-7 on Train.

Starting out on the CT side of the map, Liquid got out to a quick 3-0 lead following some very clean first rounds. After getting their economy in order, G2 were able to get the first full gun round, courtesy of a trio of entry kills from Cédric "RpK" Guipouy inside B, but they were unable to follow it up, which cost them dearly.

G2 opted to play slowly and wait for picks before pushing the bombsites, but with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Josh "jdm64" Marzano in stunning form, the Frenchmen only managed to scrape two rounds before the end of the half.

Liquid bounce back from Na`Vi defeat

The French team found a lifeline in the second half as they won five rounds in a row to keep themselves in the game. But once Liquid found their feet there was no stopping them as they did not take their foot off the pedal before getting their 16th round on the board, securing their first victory in New York.

Not their year. This is what you get from hyping a tier 2 team for a month worth of good performance.

That was one of the worst T sides I've seen in a while. G2 keept going Ivy again and again when JDM alone(almost) was shuting them down. WP by liquid tho, good read on G2 (kinda obvious) plays.

Liquid just beat a better team in their first LAN without s1mple than any team cloud9 has beaten in their "run." But c9 top1 world LOL

You mean after elige lost against navi.
2016-10-01 00:38
It's just disgusting that of all of the people, nitr0 is the one calling. The one who, by far, needs to focus on his own game the most. I hope Liquid get their structure together.
2016-10-01 00:52
Yah im confused about this as well. I know that hiko is uncomfortable calling but nitr0 should be the one focusing on establishing a level of consistency, not worrying about how to lead the team.
2016-10-01 00:54
This is the part where I look like an idiot for saying adreN would have worked well in this setup. He wouldn't have been a primary AWPer, but a secondary, so his performance wouldn't matter as much as before. They have jdm, who played like dogshit vs Na'Vi, but we saw him warm up vs G2, so lets hope that remains during the rest of the tournament. This IGL crisis in Liquid is going to be their undoing. They need to reach an enpasse and it can't be either of the entry fraggers doing the bulk of the work. Maybe evenly distribute the load and call for a census like Cloud9 do.
2016-10-01 00:57
Although it seems that Liquid are struggling with the IGL aspect of the game, Im not sure if adreN would be a good addition to this roster. I do however think they could model C9's system and distribute the IGL role so some of their players can establish some consistency.

Pretty understandable when NaVi >>>>>> G2
2016-10-01 01:22
Liquid were in shambles vs Na'Vi. They could have easily stood a better chance had they played like they did vs G2. vs Na'Vi, it was like they had to shake the cobwebs off before they got into gear. vs G2, it looked like they had found themselves. VP are pretty much the murican destroyers so I don't even hold that against them.
