OpTic send G2 packing

OpTic Gaming have moved into the fourth round of ESL One New York after beating G2 Esports 16-7 on Cache.

The first elimination match of the day in New York pitted G2 Esports, coming off a disappointing 7-16 beating at the hands of Team Liquid, against OpTic Gaming, who had been thrashed by fnatic in the previous round of matches.

The French team started out the brighter of the two sides as they won the opening pistol round thanks to a trio of kills from Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro during an A retake. After losing an eco round, OpTic went on a full buy, a gamble that paid off as they won the round without losing a single man.

G2 looked to be in a great position to win the next round after Richard "shox" Papillon landed a double AWP kill through the door inside A, but Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas stepped up to the plate and won a 1v2 clutch to equalise the score and break the Frenchmen's economy.

OpTic pick up their first win in New York

OpTic continued amassing rounds, forcing G2 to call a tactical pause while down 2-7. A 1v3 clutch from William "RUSH" Wierzba was further evidence of the state of disarray G2's players were in as the North Americans picked up 12 of the final 13 rounds of the half to take a commanding lead going into the second half.

The home side piled more misery on their opponents in the second half by winning the pistol round with an A retake before taking the next two rounds to reach match point. With G2 having no margin for error, their offense finally came to life, but it was too little, too late, as OpTic hammered the final nail into the Frenchmen's coffin to move on to the next round.

They need to give more invites to good NA teams for these events. First ECS, now this, every tournament always has all the EU teams last place.
2016-10-01 18:01
funny .Optic is destroyed by FNatic- a team very bad - lose to HR - who get destroyed by no name epsilon

Pathetic show from G2. You can't be strong, having SmithZz and bodyy in your squad. RpK should step it up too. EnVyUs suddenly turned out being a better team than that piece of a joke called G2. It's sad.
2016-10-01 18:00
Dude, bodyy is great, a bad game and you shit on him? SmithZz is bad as usual though, unless they're playing Dust2
2016-10-01 18:02

2016-10-01 19:38
Mmm I'd say g2 having a bad event is down to the way they play, if players are having off days they don't really have much to fall back on in terms of strats etc... They've been decent the past few months but they rely too heavily on just out aiming people

They know me as BOT SmithZz. They know me from the AWP misses I make. They know me from the bad score I have. They talk about my score and they think for me leaving G2 is so easy. But I will never get replaced and that's it. But my chokes, they come from more than just sucking shox's cock. For me - being a BOT - it is about precision... This part people don't see. This part, it does not show up in hltv. When I go to bait my teammates for exitfrags on the server, everything already is a part of me...
