Turkey defeat Argentina 2-1 (Train 16-14, Overpass 5-16, Cobble 16-8) to win The World Championship 2016!
With $100,000 on the line, Turkey were looking to confirm their favorite status, while Argentina were hoping to complete their underdog story with a title at the first international event they attended.
With the veto settled, the action started on Train, the playground of the Turks so far at the tournament. Argentina got to start as CT though, and managed to get up to an incredible 11-0 lead at the start of the map.
Team Turkey fought back though, and got a nine round win streak of their own. The score got tight towards the end of the map, but after a tie at 14-14 it was Turkey that managed to steal back map one with a 16-14.
Turkey seal the deal on Cobblestone to become TWC 2016 Champions
Moving on to Overpass, it was all Argentina once again, with the unlikely hero in Nahuel "Straka" Vazquez stepping up. Starting up on the T side, the South Americans ran away with the match in the first half, racking up a 12-3 lead and closing it out with a dominant 16-5 score.
Argentina couldn't replicate their good start on the last map though, with the Turks being the ones controlling the flow of the match from the Terrorist side of Cobblestone. Jonathan "JonY BoY" Muñoz and co. managed to get back to 8 rounds but that was all in the end, as Turkey closed it out 16-8 to win the series and the championship.
