GuardiaN: "I like the format"

Our next interview from EPICENTER: Moscow is with Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, who talked about clinching first place in the group of ties and Na`Vi's shaky map pool.

Like everyone else in Group A, Natus Vincere tied all their matches but secured first place and thus a semi-final spot thanks to putting up the best round difference of the four teams.

After their last match against NiP, where they lost Nuke but dominated Overpass, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács talked to about Natus Vincere's thinking behind some of the vetoes, their shaky map pool and more:

maps = matches. goals = rounds. but yeah, silly move from nip. sad they're out, good team.
2016-10-19 20:49
Except the football field is roughly the same every time and what side you start on doesn't matter.
2016-10-19 22:41
This. Plus you don't give away goals for free to have a better chance at winning the match, as you do with eco-rounds.

This aint fucking fotball, and you cant compare The 2, football got TIME Which in you defend your goals. In csgo Its first to 16 wins a match, and playing by rund difference is like playing bor in league and deciding by kills

So? All the other teams in the group had 1-1 in every match. Is there a better way?
2016-10-19 20:23
bo3 is, you know.
2016-10-19 20:25
BO3 would be almost the same, if one team goes 3-0 and other 3 would go 1-2. Still one team would be out because of round difference.

If you would have played the groups as seeding rounds it would have been a better solution and then have 4 quarters. Top seed vs bottom from the other group. Second vs third from each group etc. Then it wouldn't be a big deal.
2016-10-20 11:53
every team does, so whats your point ?
2016-10-19 20:27
every team? only guardian said something about the format, we don't know if the others like it or not - nobody asked them
2016-10-19 20:28
every team lost a half of the maps
2016-10-19 20:28
so? every team lost 50% of the maps, but navi placed 1st, while nip placed 4th - ask nip if they like that format. navi like it ofc cuz they're through
2016-10-19 20:31
You are saying like there was coin toss who goes out. NiP went out because of round difference. Back in 1.6 days, top3 teams would never lose 16-3.

2016-10-19 20:10
ofc u like format, u just benefit from that
2016-10-19 20:13
How exactly did they benefit from it? Its the same for every single team in the tournament
2016-10-19 20:17
they benefit from it because they go through to semi, round differences shouldnt be so important, navi won only 3 matches like nip, and nip is out and navi in semi
2016-10-19 20:19
It still doesnt change my point. All teams have exactly the same conditions...
2016-10-19 20:23
yeah, if the rules would say that "NaVi gets full ak47s plus armor every round", then the rules were the same for every team, but it would still benefit navi. can you understand?
2016-10-19 20:47
Yes, exactly... But this case is completely different :)
2016-10-19 20:54
Here's the problem: One team gets a single lucky shot, which down the line causes the other team to eco. That single round then determines who wins. Also: If you play two maps, you can have one of them be good for team A and one of them be good for team B. But if team B's map is worse for pistols, then team A will win less ecos, thus less rounds in general. Is team A worse? Nah, they just lost on a map they're weaker on and couldn't get as many rounds because of map design. Definitely shouldn't drop out. I'd say it's like saying total kills decide who advances. That's just not going to show which team is better.
2016-10-19 23:49
but its still the same for every single team.thats my point...every single team has exactly the same conditions=noone has an advantage. btw its still much better than bo1 group stage format.

2016-10-20 12:38
jeez...but all teams have exactly the same conditions.teams played 2 maps against each others.who exactly had an advantage? navi because they had tie with all teams(just like every team in that group) and they had the best round diff? makes no sense

2016-10-19 20:27
these reasons are still bullshit. just like thorin said in his video, the round difference is dependent on many thing, like the side the team plays first. this game is not about winning rounds, its about winning the match. this is what eco rounds are about. you "throw" away one round intentionally, so you can have better chances in the next one, with better guns etc.
2016-10-19 21:01
