fnatic 1, VP 1 - group stage ends

Virtus.pro and fnatic split maps in the last match of the group stage (16-11 on Cobblestone, 13-16 on Mirage) to secure the top two spots in Group B.

The last match of the day, that would decide the final placings in group B, started off on fnatic's pick - Cobblestone.

The Swedes lost the pistol, but Dennis "dennis" Edman got three kills with a Deagle in the following round to allow his team to bounce straight back. After a tight start to the first half, Virtus.pro were the ones to build a lead on the Terrorist side of Cobblestone and go 9-4 up.

fnatic pulled the following round back from an unfavorable position, with Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson and Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer getting all five kills on the B site defense.

Virtus.pro were in control throughout the first half of Cobble

After a 5-10 first half, fnatic came in strong in the second, losing only one round out of the first five and equalizing the score at 11-11 thanks to the economy of the Poles getting reset.

Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski clutched a 1v2 with the AWP to keep Virtus.pro in the lead, while his team cleaned up the B push in the following round to put fnatic on an eco at 13-11.

Snax picked up two more kills in round 26 with some good positioning, getting the Poles on match point and allowing them to close out the map 16-11.

With the first place in Group B already secured, Virtus.pro had little to play for in the second map. However, SK would be in Virtus.pro's side of the bracket if they were to lose Mirage, which might've motivated the Poles a bit.

A win for fnatic meant they would be facing Dignitas in the quarters, instead of G2 who would be their opponent if they lost.

After some technical issues and delays, the second map started with Filip "NEO" Kubski and co. being a bit slow out of the gates. Simon "twist" Eliasson was doing a lot of work for his team, putting fnatic 8-4 up.

Virtus.pro managed to get back in it towards the end of the half, but twist managed to steal the last round with a 1v3 to make it 9-6 for his team after the Terrorist half.

After winning the second pistol fnatic were in the driver's seat to close out the the map, but were halted on match point as Virtus.pro prolonged the series.

It was to no avail, as the Swedes closed it out 16-13 in the end to get the second seed in group B.

SK will never ever win this.. They already got dumpstered by VP in the group stage of this tournament and semi finals of ESL One New York. NaVi trumped them with ease on their best map, Mirage. G2 also punished them at ECS Season 1 LAN Finals.
2016-10-19 23:47
SK were struggling in the first two matches vs VP and fnatic. I bet they already found their A-game and will defeat everyone on their road to the win.
2016-10-19 23:50
+1 but i think navi/vp 2/1 sk

Are people retarded? Always the same fucking stupid comment Round difference is BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS THAT ARE TIED thats why Fnatic is 2nd
2016-10-19 23:11
Calm ur tits, Collie Roger
2016-10-19 23:14
So the retards of VP by throwing the last map (it was obvious they didnt care) now have to play SK in semis instead of final. You have to be stupid to make harder your own path to finals when you had the decision on your hands. They must have made the calculations like HLTV retards and thought SK was 2nd. Either way deserved for not trying in the last map.
2016-10-19 23:15
lol vp throwing, vp after cobble had assured 1st place in group so mirage was for them training and funny
2016-10-19 23:17
You are clueless if you think VP doesn't throw. Just because they aren't retards like IBP or cause they don't throw for skins, it doesn't mean they don't do it. Valve can't prove if they throw to have an easier bracket or to not make it to a LAN (watch last ESL online matches vs G2 and Dig, clear throws). It obviously understandable they don't want to play and travel to so many LANs but thhe throw is there.
2016-10-19 23:20
Vp throw a lot of times on csgolounge as they are the owners and nobody can do anything against that, unlike IBP players who were very careless to bet there. VP is the most shadowy org that exist in the esports and still it remains throwing/fixing games like all Polish teams.

And of course, the team that actually got the most points get's the 10x harder draw, with G2 and SK on their side. Meanwhile, the three teams who scraped through on unfair scoring get easy draws. Fnatic vs Dig are the worst 2 teams left in the tournement yet they get to play against each other. Easy route for NaVi to final. Ridiculous

This format is really confusing for casual players. It seems that also casters/analysts (I believe Semmler for example) struggle with it, since it's hard to follow. This match was very annoying to watch in particular, since there were hours of delay in the middle of games because players crashed. Casters mentioned DDos or something. I'm sure Epicenter will fix that for the future, but couldn't have hurt to mention that in the report above.

LEL. Navi never beat fnatic, not even with new lineups. They have no confidence against them and get ptsd when olof and Dennis are in the server. You have to be way beyond blind not to see that at this point.
2016-10-20 15:06
navi ez LUL
2016-10-20 14:47
What a dream bracket for fnatic. Straight to the final. Navi beat them. Olof and Dennis still have way too much confidence against them and navi the opposite.
2016-10-20 15:04
if they beat dignitas I'm 100% sure that they'll get to the finals but beating dignitas won't be so easy :/
