FaZe beat NRG in double OT
Dust2 was the setting for the match between NRG and FaZe, which ended 22 - 20 for the Nordic team after two rounds of OT.
It was FaZe taking the pistol round on the CT side. However, a sloppy second round in which the Nordic combine was unable to get a single frag shifted the momentum towards NRG, who would get in the advantage on the scoreboard as well as economically.
With NRG up 3 – 1, it was now up to FaZe to close the gap in the first full buy round of the map. Three AWP kills by Aleksi "allu" Jalli and a double from Håvard "rain" Nygaard gave FaZe some room to breathe. The Nordic team then won five rounds, but were unable to close the half losing 7 – 8.
NRG’s team effort almost reaped its rewards
The second half started equally well for NRG, as the North America based team won the pistol round and were able to take the lead early in the second half in a solid team effort, making it 12 – 9 before Finn "karrigan" Andersen called a timeout.
The timeout seemed to have changed something, as allu and rain with two kills each got their team back on track and into double digits. Their slow methodical play got them another round after that, and sitting at 13 – 11 it looked like NRG’s lead could be in peril.
a particularly inspired allu pushed FaZe to victory
NRG and FaZe then traded rounds, but NRG got the short end of the stick as their economy got reset and they had to eco twice. FaZe got one round away from tying 14 – 14, but NRG winning the second eco thanks to an early double by "" meant NRG would be on match point.
Philip "aizy" Aistrup, who hadn’t been particularly in shape this match, and allu had a possibly tide turning round with NRG’s match point up on the board, winning a 2 vs. 4 to take the match all the way. And all the way it went, as another massive round by allu, who tallied four kills that round and 26 total, took the map to 30 rounds split evenly between both teams.
